  • Baltonia - A set plan on what the RP will be like.
Which one was better?

Aurentina's success, and Baltonia's failure, I think had far more to do with the general enthusiasm for the Senate at the time. Baltonia struggled because it was met with the same fatigue/lack of interest that Aurentina suffered in its last days. When Aurentina started, the whole concept was fresh and was met with a blaze of interest.

As an aside, it may also be worth reaching out again to our NSG roots. We're what, 18 months or so down the line from Aurentina now, so there's something of a new generation of Generalites for which this idea could be as fresh as the original concept.

Voting had started on Thursday, 20 November at 16:05 (UTC +8), and it is currently 16:32 on the 22nd. As such, the vote is hereby closed and no further votes shall be counted.

The final tally is as follows.
______________
Nation: 20 (83.3%)
__________
UN: 4 (16.6%)

Abstain: 2 (0%)
_____________________
Because more than 66.6% ("two thirds") + 1 of voters have expressed support for a single nation, the issue is hereby closed and no longer up for debate.

The current proposition at debate is as follows.

Resolved: The RP should start with a more minimal plan of IC details (blank slate) AGAINST Resolved: The RP should start with a more comprehensive plan of IC details

Thank you.

Well, thank you everyone for informing me of this thread :/

Anyway, it's pretty clear that Baltonia was a failure. I'm convinced that it was Aurentina's blank slate that attracted the initial burst of players and that's something we require. However, a complete blank slate may lead to similar problems as caused by the lack of control in Aurentina at the nation's birth. Some of the RP talk in the Lobby has softened my position on blank slate - We do need some kind of compromise here. I don't think we should pre-fabricate any kind of nation, but it's preferable to avoid the initial chaos if possible.

Have you considered that the lack of interest in Baltonia might be thanks to it being pre-planned?

I vote for non-blank slate.

Even though Vestmark seems really interesting, now that I know that we could potentially return to Aurentina that will be the option I'll vote for if non-blank slate wins.

I'd like a compromise between the non-blank state and the blank state. Aurentina was great and exciting because nothing was written down in stone but it was also awfully annoying when people tried to get away with crimes because "no law" technically existed on the subject.

The best solution is a blank slate with common law. It allows the Senate to still draft laws and statutes, but in the meantime we have the courts actively determining the law in the process.

Common law only allows the judge to interpret the law as they see fit and set precedent from it. It's not some magical fix for not having laws in the first place.
