"Why not? It's worth a go and I heard winners write history. At Europe's height and in laizzes faire's finest hour only 60 million people died in colonies with much thanks to European ideological negligence and many shrug off it's implications in the current geopolitical structure. I'm sure you can blame the ENSO if you can't get away with it completely, and as a plus, it's more common than in Victorian times. Think of yourselves as crusaders on a mission to save Earth from overpopulation. Make your country's name so fearsome that future generations around the world will his it out as if they saw Satan himself. Make the world tremble with fear and respect as they look at your grand shadow. Go on and make Tagliaferro eat her words."

"50 million is way too hyped for Stalin, that's closer to Mao. 8 million is still to nice and glossed though...making a semi-educated guesstimate and scrolling through various historians, I'd say 15 to 20 million tops which can be added more if you count his megalomaniacal leadership during the Second World War, there's near to one million extra if you count the Afghan invasion and probably dozens to hundreds of thousands though internal oppresion, once again guesstimating. Pol Pot claims about 3 million or more. The guys here were tame in comparison with about 40,000 executed...and nobody ever counts the African leaders because they just kill everybody regardless of a supposed ideology. Yeah, I'd say the Left is more efficient than killing that the Right, more than double the slaughter or negligence...but I'm only counting Capitalism's colonial adventures. "

"The highest praise one with controversial positions and the will to express them publicly can receive is the openly declared hatred and denigration of their opponents."

"Pardon? My watch? It's a Movado, actually. I'm told that's Esperanto for "movement," or something like that. The company was founded in Switzerland in 1881 and later bought in 1983 by a man living in America who had fled the Marxist revolutionaries in Cuba in 1960. I think they're based in New Jersey somewhere now."

-- Secretary of State Amaya Tagliaferro, when asked about her timepiece.

"Presently a U.S. Senator is paid a wage of about $35,000.00 a year, which is about what a Sergeant in the Army pulls down with six years of seniority. Now, if a man who goes into openly hostile locations and literally risks his life to defend others and uphold the ideals of the Republic can do with that and not complain, should our legislators honestly demand more?"

That cannot possibly be true... That's like £22,000... Nurses earn more than that... In their first year!

"I assume you'll follow that statement up by saying that CEOs of the companies you hold shares in shouldn't demand a higher wage than the guys who clean skid-marks out of the toilets?
Heck, I didn't want the guy performing my lung transplant to be earning £2.50 plus tips, I sure as shit don't want the guys administrating our entire country to earn that.
You pay peanuts, you get monkeys. If the teen who works in the print-room is paid more than the guys running your country... Well... That may explain why you guys can only afford to pay your senior NCOs what is less than the minimum starting wage for a newly qualified teacher in this country."

"The pleasure of the masses is irrelevant in world-history. You can harp about 'healthier and wealthier' or 'socially advanced' all you like, but you have perhaps not accounted for the fact that we do not actually care about those things in the first place. Or at least how you care about them. I shall simplify this for you; I would rather 40 million of the mediocre suffered if a few thousand geniuses lived in prosperity. It is not the quantity of happiness that matters, it is its quality. I am hesitant to go into the realms of speculation but I would think a man who had earned his prosperity with the sweat on his brow and climbed from nothing would be a great deal happier than one who had had it given to him on a plate."
