This quote can be associated with the Esalvian religious scholar and architect Alijecék bin Mehmedaju Uslanu al Krsy. One could almost say that he agreed--before his time--with Thomas Hobbes. One could say he was most distrustful of humanity. This was possibly linked to Esalvian society's norms at that time. Esalvia was essentially a brothel of trade and pleasure pre Rennaisance... It was a thriving Islamic kingdom, but that practically in name only.

Uslanu al Krsy saw the state of Esalvia as anathema to not Islam, but to human nature itself. As the Kingdom of Esalvia was essentially an anarchy. Putting self interest before oneself due to this freedom, without any thought of the consequences, spiritual or otherwise.

Of course, such a critic on human nature--espeicially on the basis that without presenting the consequences beforehand--that humans will always go off into hedonism is weak.

In short, his rhethoric was largely based on redundancy.

Further historical evidence showed that Esalvia at that time was much more civilized (in the sense that it was not a decadent anarchy), and was in fact on the decline into being incorporated by the Ottoman Empire (Who were the ones that Islamized Esalvia a few decades earlier).

However, it should be reconsidered that these terms associated with Uslanu al Krsy are not completely nullified and that he should be descredited completely, especially once one revisions it into more contemporary works criticising human nature based on psychological and socialogical evidence.

I on the other hand stand against his idea that humans only can descend into decadence.

I believe humans are far more complex than that. Humans are not evil, nor are they pure beings who become 'bad' as a result of surroundings. We are simply too complex to pigeonhole.
