The Senate of Aurentina,

Recognising that the situation in the Fiji is very quickly changing,

Declaring that the Republic of Minerva is to be recognised as an independent nation by all Aurentine government facilities.

We also recognise that the violation of Minerva's independence is a violation of the independence of a sovereign nation, and will condemn anyone who does so.

I wonder if in the midst of all these joke bills, I could sneak in a "Recognize the Republic of China" or "Recognize the Republic of Palestine" act

I would be OK with recognizing Palestine as an independent country if the issue came up to a vote in the United Nations. However, the diplomatic ramifications of recognizing the Republic of China are huge and I think its probably best to strive to maintain the status quo in that reigion.

All senators shall be bound by a dress code, while in the senate chamber.

The wearing of denim shall be prohibited in the senate chamer .

Consisting of a ceremonial robe of black silk damask trimmed with gold lace and frogs.

Under such robes suits shall be worn by men and dresses by women.

I do wish China would change its "One China" policy and I do support stronger relations with Taiwan, but the diplomatic dangers of recognizing the ROC are enormous. At the end of the day, I dont feel like making an enemy out of the Chinese.

This^^^^

If Russias annexation isnt properly dealt with, we than put the rest of Eastern Europe and possibly ourselves at risk. China is not actively breaking international law and it isnt breaking the international norm of of not sending troops in and annexing other peoples territory. Proposing recognition of the ROC is like proposing recognition of Chechnya as an independent state

An invasion is pretty unlikely, but allowing Russia to get away with annexing other countries territories is dangerous. Generally its highly frowned upon to pursue regional hegemony through means of annexation, but if we fail to enfore such norms than they are weakened and the global consequences can be irrevocably bad.

Further, Russia has been pretty big on annexation, invasion and expansion and who knows whats on Putins mind? Regardless of what he has planned, a Russia that annexes other countries territory is bad for Europe as a whole

I made up a bill. Any suggestions or sponsors?

South African AIDS Prevention Act

Author:Marshal Potenco (MSP)-Sponsors: Wilheim Von Hohenzollern (RG)
Recognizes that South Africa is the largest democracy in Africa

Commends the Republic of South Africa for its affirmation of LGBT rights

Recognizes a crippling rate of HIV AIDS, with 17.9% of the population infected

Hereby set aside two million pounds for condom distribution and safe sex education courses

A special effort will be made to reach out both to South Africas urban and rural regions with regards to rape prevention and prevention of sexual assault.

Will further allocate funds to educate South African law enforcement forces on rape prevention and sensitivity training

Yeah, the majority of people in Africa with HIV have got it through heterosexual intercourse or drug addiction, not homosexual activity.

Oh yeah, I know that. I just decided to list a reason for why South Africa should be seen as in good standing with Aurentina. In all fairness, the linking of homosexual sex and AIDS in the publics mind is understandable as MSM sex is riskier in that regard.

Yeah thats true. Me putting down euros wasnt as ptoo delibertartely politically motivated, I just wasnt sure if we used Pounds or Euros, and if I messed up with either of those it would have come off as a political statement so I preferred to go with coming off as a wrong eurofederalist rather than anglophile.

For now it probably is best to maintain the status quo. However, I do like the idea of joining the EU in a more stable market.
