Bitely does not necessarily need a commendation, but he is looking for one on his terms. Going this route pretty undermines everything they have done; from accusations of the WA being run by an elite group to their continued dismissal of any and all logic. They will get a badge, but anybody who clicks on it will be able to see that all of their "I am against the WA elite" is absolute garbage, doubly so when the commendation states that he will be inducted into the elites.

Self damning to the Assembly, maybe. Harming Bitely's overall cause, definitely.

Not necessarily. If someone were to only babble about elites, that's one thing. If someone were to babble about the elites and then pour a couple hundred bucks or so into the site for stamps and ads and postmaster general status, well, damn, that kind of hypocritical behavior should be encouraged, yes?

Yet, there are many adverts plastering the WAHQ and much of NationStates. For those who click on that but do not click on the badge itself, this would be interpreted as player-wide sanction for his actions to this point.

It leads me to believe that he is trying to get any attention he can get whether negative or positive, so no that really isn't a a ground breaking revelation by any measure.

Maybe. Except that being praised by the very "Elite" he despises, and in a supremely ironic and sarcastic manner, is not something I think he wants.
