I could quote more self-evident pieces but this pretty much sums it up.

You definitively knew that by playing the joke card made every serious guy out there look uptight and heralded yourself as a victim of their seriousness. You knew that this would absolve this proposal from any criticism because it is meant to be a joke 'anyway'. And unfairly so given this in all intents is definitely not a joke proposal - and for that - I think to owe everyone you derided in this thread for being too serious an apology.

I can't deride people for being too serious? Why not? This not being a joke and telling people they need to lighten up are not mutually exclusive.

Furthermore, the person I was responding to with that quote was not criticizing my proposal in any meaningful way: they just said people needed to remember this was a game. So do you actually have an example of me shielding my proposal from criticism by playing the joke card?

Allow me to jog your memory: you derided people for being too serious because you said that this proposal was meant to be a joke. While the hypothetical scenario you provided in your reply is not mutually exclusive, the fact that you deliberately used the 'fact' that this proposal was a joke to deride the serious legion - when the proposal was NOT a joke - changes things.

As for the second point - you might need to be reminded that although your quote was a reply to Neph, you were indirectly accusing of people who criticised your proposal in more than one meaningful ways to being too uptight. As for quotes? I unfortunately can't do it now because quoting on my phone is a major pain. I'll let anyone with a more adept device to do that if that person so pleases.

If anything, Bitely has gotten better since we got involved. *nods*

I know right? All I do is author a joke proposal, and suddenly people are jumping all over me, telling me I'm being "awfully mean". People need to lighten up and pass more stupid Condemnations.

If I missed any of LBP Union's criticisms, please tell me. I have tried to address the criticisms LBP Union raised here and in LBP Union's pre-emptive repeal of this proposal.

Train Wreck? This here is top-quality Condemnation. It is probably typo-free, has a sorta-long drafting phase, won't be funded by stamps, follows the rules, won't have ex post facto branding, and is generally the exact opposite of what Bitely did.

I won't even fight a repeal. Passing is its own reward.

Alright fine. You know what? We fucking tried. We tried, and tried, and even tried some more, but you seem so dead set on embarrassing yourself, so go right ahead. I am done with this mess. By the time this is over, I can assure you you credibility will be in the shitter, and I will be standing right there to make that oh so glorious flush of shame. Don't say you weren't warned.

No; this is the Security Council, not the General Assembly. There is nothing wrong with "joke proposals" having individual threads here.

Also note that a proposal that is intended as a joke, or not entirely seriously, or that is humourous in some fashion is not necessarily a "joke proposal" that is illegal under the rules. There is plenty of precedent for proposals being passed with non-serious intent or containing humour.

Well, I think what we all want to know is, do you mean that you seriously want Bitely condemned? Or was it meant as a joke? If it was serious, like I stated before, you'll get nowhere with a condemnation. Your currently good reputation will be crushed. I absolutely hate Bitely, but I don't think condemnation will do anything. Look at other nations that were condemned. Did it stop them? Is this about you wanting the WA to know how much you hate Bitely? Or is it about stopping Bitely from causing further chaos?

That's the problem, though, if this somehow passes at vote, even once repealed, it is there forever. You will lose any and all credibility you have in the SC, and a fair portion of the GA. If you really want to pursue this, at least wait until Protection of Sapient Rights 2: Electric Boogaloo is passed.

The ambassador from Bright Waters approaches the podium, tie recovered from the previous night's celebrations of the repeal of the WSA:

"With respect, Ambassador, the dear ambassador from Bitely has been embarrassed already with the powerful repeal of his legislation, as well as the ransacking of his WA offices. Ambassador Bell personally defiled his trash can, as I recall

To condemn him would simply give him more material in his arguments against WA elites which, my aide has pointed out, he continues to do outside the halls of this majestic chamber, although he now seems to be permanently wearing a tin foil hat, complete with the phrase "World Assmebly Suks" scrawled in crayon.

We suggest that the good ambassador let the representative from Bitely quietly walk off into the night.

And, if no one minds, might we take his office? It is much better than our 8th floor office"

I don't see the issue. The proposal is about the GA, so presumably players can RP it if they wish. GP-based proposals are another matter.
