[INSTA-REPEAL] Repeal "Liberate Capitalist Paradise"

Postby Mundiferrum » Tue Jul 15, 2014 2:21 am

My first attempt at a resolution. Hopefully, the logic and the language won't be irredeemably ugly.
I really hope that I would never have to submit this.

The Security Council,

Reiterating that this Council's mission statement truly is to "spread interregional peace and goodwill, via force if necessary",

Observing the lack of interregional conflicts participated in or caused by Capitalist Paradise,

Declaring, therefore, that a liberation of Capitalist Paradise destroys goodwill without furthering interregional peace,

Adding that a region "not fulfilling its potential" is too ambiguous a reason for using this council's powers upon a region,

Aware of the intent of the liberation: to stifle the conflict-causing actions of a member of Capitalist Paradise,

Noting that the member nation stated above is no longer a member of Capitalist Paradise,

Noting also that none of that former member's actions were representative of or backed by Capitalist Paradise,

Believing that this liberation's foundations were either misinformed, unreliable, or completely maligned,

Hereby repeals "Liberate Capitalist Paradise".

Wow. No reference to Afforess at all. I approve.
Represented permanently at the World Assembly by Benjamin Olafsen, and on an ad-hoc basis by Alethea Norrland and rarely Gaia Pao and Gabriel Dzichpol.
OOCly retired from the GA/SC for something called 'real life'.
Author of GA#288 and SC#148.

The ambassador is pleased to see that a non native of Capitalist Paradise is proposing this repeal. Should the liberation pass, this will have the full support of Nation of Quebec. We will instruct our counterparts in our WA puppet state, Uchila Eru, to support this resolution should it come to vote. We will also inform our counterparts in Capitalist Paradise to support this resolution. We again wish to reiterate that the liberation was only drafted as revenge against the former nation of Afforess and point out that there are no grounds for a liberation. Capitalist Paradise has an active Founder, free elections, no password to speak of, and is welcoming of all nations.

The welcoming I got on the Capitalist Paradise forums suggests otherwise.

Your efforts would be better spent on preventing the Liberation from passing at all.

Let's not liberate them and instead, invade and annex.

Problem is, since it is proposed by Nierr, Unicorn is going to vote FOR it out of the gates, and then the lemming effect will take over.... :(

That is not true. I do believe even Aba's own proposal has to go thru voting in TNP.

"Liberate Capitalist Paradise" is a poorly written liberation that's probably being used as a queue blocker, so you have very little to work with. That said, it's pretty good, especially for your first proposal.

Adding that a region "not fulfilling its potential" is too ambiguous a reason for using this council's powers upon a region; Comma needed at the end of the clause.

Aware, furthermore, of the intent of the liberation: to stifle the conflict-causing actions of a member of Capitalist Paradise,

Noting that the member nation referred to stated above is no longer a member of Capitalist Paradise,

Noting also that none of that former member's actions were representative of or backed by Capitalist Paradise,

Believing that this liberation's foundations were either misinformed, unreliable, or completely maligned,

Hereby repeals "Liberate Capitalist Paradise".
Just some weeb.

It goes through voting yes.... I am a member of the TNP. Unicorn votes based on the regional forum vote. As soon as it is 1-0 either way that is the way he initially casts his vote. As Nieer is also a member of the government, and can vote.... You see what I am saying?

I'll [try to, since I am fairly inexperienced with campaigning,] work on that for when it comes to vote. For now, with only 23 hours left, and with 85 delegates supporting it, it seems unlikely that it should ever not come to vote. Think of this more as....emergency preparations.

And me taking advantage of this proposal in getting that neat little badge! :D
No, no, I jest.

Did you at least try sending campaign telegrams to the Delegates approving it? :P

What I did doesn't matter anymore. :P

(Answering your question: No, I didn't. To put my explanation simply, I didn't do so because I was fairly....stupid, due to a combination of bad assumptions (especially after Afforess's deletion, from whence I assumed the support would immediately die down) and a general lack of confidence (I haven't really participated in the actual campaigning process of proposals in the GA before))

Somebody did however. The proposal dropped down to about 80 approvals before heading back up to where it is now.

So what did you tell people exactly to make them support such an obviously frivolous liberation?

I did; every time someone withdrew their support another delegate would follow and support it. -_-
