SUBMITTED: Condemn Krioval

Postby Krioval » Tue Sep 22, 2009 8:08 pm

After the utter failure of our resolution, "Fairness in Currency Exchange", I am left feeling the need to publicly repent. Thus, enclosed is the text of a proposal to address our shame in a truly democratic fashion. Please let me know if further self-flagellation is needed; the character limit is quite high, after all.

NOTING that the Great Chiefdom of Krioval promotes the vile and disgusting ideology of free trade despite a flat income tax of nearly 90%,

CONCERNED that said nation is eroding the purity of its home region, Antarctic Oasis,

UTTERLY HORRIFIED that Krioval has opposed legislation that would protect cute fluffy animals,

DISMAYED BEYOND HOPE that said nation might resort to WA puppetry in order to statwank,

CONDEMNS FOR ALL ETERNITY* the Great Chiefdom of Krioval

* unless repealed

Did I hold back too much?

CONDEMNS FOR ALL ETERNITY the Great Chiefdom of Krioval

Illegal, a permanent, non-revokeable resolution is not technically possible and would require changes to the game mechanics.

Did I hold back too much?

No orange/blue WFE ? -- That's a shame. I don't know if you're 'condemnable' enough.

Technically, I'd think that the "for all eternity" would be revoked by a repeal, but I'll likely change it prior to submission.

Fairness in Currency Exchange wasn't nearly as ebil as Trade Enhancement Act. Why should you get condemned and not us?

Because clearly I should have known better. The WA is designed to pass only fluffy resolutions, and while there was no warning that TEA was insufficiently fluffy before the contentious debate, it was clear that anything labeled "free trade" that had been vetted over a two-week period was not up to the WA's standard.

Honoured ambassador to Krioval, I cannot see why you should condemn yourself for just trying.

I added a qualifier on "for all eternity" that clearly indicates that a repeal would nullify that clause.

Maybe you should add something about mugging old ladies, and spending the ill gotten gains on cigarettes, brown likker and wild wimmen. :D

Yeah but the half that does makes up for the half that doesn't. Really now Krio, such a hair shirt does not become you!

I condemn thee to writing a piece of truly fluffy wuffieness - so put thy pen in and and show us you can out do all the other attempts -make up a thoroughly legal but thoroughly useless, silly, and totally unnecessary proposition.

I bet you can't do it...

OOC: Oh, come now. It's just that I'm trying to get a cool icon attached to my nation. Right now, WA posters don't appropriately fear Krioval's wrath, but with a little Darth WA symbol, they'll all fall into line. Also, I'm just trying to improve the activity of the vital, vital Security Council.

If you dislike the Security Council and see it as a joke, you are quite able to express this opinion by a boycott of the feature.
I wish I remember who wrote:Games like Nationstates are like a big cardboard box, and there are two kinds of people in the world. The kind who look at the empty void inside the box and ask "Where the hell is it?" and the kind who jump into the box with their friends and make it into a fort, or a spaceship.

Oh, but this is ever so much more fun, and wasn't fun what this was all about?

As far as the merits of this condemnation goes, we don't think Krioval is nearly evil enough to merit one. Nuke someone first and then we'll support this. We even have a few suggestions of nations to start with.

Or, y'know, I could use it to further my own twisted agenda*. Besides, a boycott of a moribund institution is no fun whatsoever, nor would it make a double point as my proposal does:

1. The SC flares briefly into action pretty much to revisit the curse of the revenge of the return of the son of the bride of the repeal of Condemn NAZI Kingdoms, and

2. The GA has been passing fluffy dreck and exhibiting a reading comprehension level usually seen in children under the age of seven years.

That I can do both in a slightly ironic and incredibly sarcastic and snarky way entertains me, and that, after all, is why I choose to play the game called NationStates.

* By the by, if I were to announce a boycott of the SC (and it were modestly active), I'd probably be asked why I don't try to work within it to improve it or somesuch.

He doesn't exist anymore, though there's a character called Dylan who's similar enough to Raijin except for being a werewolf. Should I work that into my proposal?

In one of your RPs. prison guards stood by while one of my characters was raped! And he was just visiting a parishioner at the time! And then your soldiers destroyed the entire suburb he lived in!

While your authorities subsequently held inquiries, paid reparations, made apologies and all sorts of wussy WA-compliant stuff, and while the rape may just possibly have been something I managed to godmode our of some very minor clue you provided, it messed up Father Whatsisname (Patrick? Andrew?)'s life something awful.

I shall be voting for a jolly good Condemning, let me tell you!

Preferably in terms which confuse IC and OOC almost as incomprehensibly as this post.

Actually, Ardchoilleans, it wasn't just a suburb, it was an entire city, Bralos to be exact...and I know the deconstruction specialist who designed the demolishing very well...

*shoves everyone else off moral high ground*

*begins researching "Condemn Tanaara ...* :p

IC: This draft meets one criterion that the SC has already accepted as sufficient to condemn a government to the ridicule and contempt of the nations of the world. It denounces the nation of Krioval for its appalling ideology (free trade) as evinced by its government's actions (writing a proposal supporting that iniquitous and ultimately inhumane practice).

My thanks to the Un-Delegate of Tanaara for verifying reports of Krioval's outrageous treatment of its own civilians. No doubt the unconvincingly repentant delegate of Krioval will try to persuade us this was done in a time of all-encompassing civil and theological strife. But my government demands that this, too, must be written on the scroll of infamy that this proposal should swiftly become.

-- Walter Arbuthnot, Engineer Primus of the Hermeneutical Order of the Shattered Fourth Rampart; Security Council delegate, Ardchoille.
