The Political Parties of Your Nation

Postby Dominguez Hill » Wed Jul 29, 2009 5:01 pm

What are the political parties of your nation and what status does it have?

The Republic of Dominguez Hill being organized under the presidential type of democracy has these following major political parties with representation in Congress:

Federalist Party: The Federalist Party is the current party in power both in the Presidency, and both houses of Congress and is the most popular among the working class of Dominguez City, the military, the farmers of outlying districts, and the more religious people of our society. The party believes in moderate economics recognizing the benefits of the capitalist system but also recognizing that there must be regulation, strong and vigourous foreign policy of not being afraid to use our sword when necessary, and traditional moral values.

Liberal Party: The Liberal Party is the second largest party in the Republic of Dominguez Hill and is the most popular among the middle classes of the suburban areas outside Dominguez City, businessmen, artists, intellectuals, and the less religious people of Dominguez Hill. The Liberal Party believes in conservative economics, believing that government must interfere only minimally in the economy, has a foreign policy of mild isolationism, and more progress in social matters.

Conservative Party: The Conservative Party is a third party which won the Presidency only twice in historic elections and has been a relatively small party since 1980. The party is most popular among some areas of the working and middle classes especially outside of the Dominguez City area. The Conservative Party believes in conservative economics even more so then the Liberals, a foreign policy of strong isolationism, and a very conservative social policy. The party is currently allied with the Federalists.

Socialist Party: The Socialist Party is the smallest of the four parties with representation in Congress and has never won the Presidency. The party is popular among radicals especially college students and relies heavily on foreign donations from like-minded Socialists. The Socialist Party believes not surprisingly in a socialist economy, a very isolationist foreign policy, and very liberal social policy. It is for instance the only major party in Dominguez Hill advocating the ease of all restrictions on abortion and legalizing gay marriage.

Rejistania has no political parties, elections are for candidates. Liside'ny (singular: liside) exist, but they are not parties but single-issue groups and as such often regional.

Political parties and organizations are banned, this way the people are not influenced by a persons party, but by the individual and what they stand for.

The Watchman party
"Qua est custodis?"

The Watchman party believe that CM is not living up to what it should be: A "Night Watchman" State, and believe that CM should take a more active role in protecting it's citizens. Their candidates are often plagued by the phrase 'Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?', and criticized for their strong government hand. (Keep in mind that anywhere else, these guys would be radical miniarchists)

The Practical Capitalist Party
"Don't mix emotion and logic. They come out like oil and water."

The Practical Capitalist party focuses on two things, not pissing off the rest of the world, and applying Capitalism in a manner that does not sacrifice individual liberty. Out of all the Moralite parties, the Practical Capitalist party is the most likely to compromise, seeing as most of it's goals are already met, and have already been met in CM.

The Morality First Party
"Morality first. Morality always."

The Morality First party is probably the most popular party in CM. They emphasis not sacrificing Moralite interests in ANY situation, and are currently facing a split with the 'Morality Only' party, (extreme isolationists)

In Altane there is only one party, but party members may advocate differant things other than the base beliefs of the Party which is called the 'Kuritan Party' which believes in the Kuritan Imperial Family rule in Altane, expanding its influence and power. Mainly a pro-Monarchist, Royalist Party.

Political parties are non-existant in Kagetora. Partly because they're illegal, and also because those who disagree with government ideas tend to wind up dead or missing. The current dynasty has been ruling for over 400 years, and is the closest thing in Kagetora to a political party.

Major political parties:

Moderate Socialist Party (MSP)

Currently holding the government and Presidency and the party with the longest periods in government in the history of Goias (1972-1976, 1980-2000, 2006-present). A centre-left party popular among the working class, middle class, students, farmers, police officers and women. It supports: a mixed economy, the welfare state, universal healthcare, flexicurity, a strong police and army, progressive taxation, environmentalism, regional autonomy and social liberalism.

The MSP was formed in 1972 through the fusion of the Socialist Party and the Social Democrat Party.

Popular Democratic Party (PDP)

The nation's main centre-right party, supported by the upper class, religious folks and the older generation. It agrees in principle with the MSP's goals of a strong, egalitarian Goias but it differs in details: it wants more freedom for private enterprises, a reduction of state bureaucracy, a scaled-down welfare state, lower taxes and is socially conservative. Prone to long periods of unpopularity and being regarded with skepticism by the population due to its formerly radical past and bad luck once in power.

The PDP was formed in 1962 as a centre-right alternative to the formerly very right-wing Conservative Party, which eventually collapsed in 1966.

National Liberal Party (NLP)

A liberal party and the third largest party in Goias. It is practically the equivalent of Germany's FDP, and its ideology follows the basics of classical liberalism, having as central tenets individual freedom, the free market and limited government. While the principle of the market economy is held sacrosanct and the need for occasional government intervention is acknowledged, the NLP supports reforming the welfare state, reducing bureaucracy, deregulation, subsidy reform, replacing the progressive taxation system with a flat tax, decentralisation and a parliamentary system, tax cuts and non-intervention in social matters. Its support derives mostly from the middle class and the youth due to its centrism, as its supporters disagree with both the MSP (believing that excessive socialism will hurt the country) and the PDP (whom they regard as the MLP in disguise).

The party was formed in 1964, and were previously in power as part of coalition governments with the MSP (1974-1976) and PDP (1976-1980, 2004-2006).

Green Party (GP)

The nation's main environmentalist party, basically the equivalent to Germany's Alliance 90/The Greens. Its main preoccupation is environmental problems. They support strict limits on pollution, "green" agriculture, clean energy and oppose nuclear power. Outside environmental issues they are a liberal party, supporting the use of army only for self-defense, current drug, abortion and prostitution laws and opposing discrimination in all its forms. Formed in 1970, they frequently support the MSP in Parliament due to their similar programs and have entered a coalition government with the MSP between 1984-1988.

Communist Party of Goias (CPG)

Established in 1945, the CPG serves as a more "leftist" party for those dissatisfied with the MSP, regularly winning about 10% of votes. It is not completely opposed to the MSP and Is open to the prospect of a MSP-CPG coalition, but this has not happened yet.

Minor parties:

Morals and Life Party (MLP)

An even more conservative fringe party than the PDP, established in 1967 for rightists disillusioned with the PDP's move to the centre and the CP's collapse. While initially only slightly more rightist than the PDP, its ideology has evolved into an extremist, broadly paleoconservative one with an emphasis on social and cultural conservatism. Their platform includes: opposing "moral relativism", criminalizing abortion and stem cell research, withdrawing the recognition of same-sex marriages and the rights that go along with them, removing the barrier between church and state, banning drugs and prostitution, introducing a strict censorship law, introducing the death penalty, adopting school uniforms and reintroducing corporal punishment, criminalizing sexual relations outside marriage and homosexuality and reversing the changes caused by the feminist movement. The latter point is to be accomplished by banning women from holding any jobs, removing their civil rights and right to vote, introducing a severe public dress code with accompanying harsh penalties for contravening it, a mandatory fertility law (as in, every married couple must have at least one daughter or face consequences) and decriminalizing assault against women and rape.

Surprisingly enough, they won the regional election in the isolated nothern region of Xairsan in 1969, but that was on a moderate conservative platform and before their evolution towards radical and extremist politics. They have never won any elections since, and their support hovers around 1%.

Historical parties:

National Independence Party of Goias (NIPG)

Established in 1928 by Tsikan Sanyan, the NIPG was a "big tent" centrist-nationalist party that demanded Goias' independence from Nezrak above everything else. After this was won the NIPG was in power as part of an interim administration between 1945-1949 and then as the country's first elected government between 1949-1959, during which time they laid the basis of Goias' successful mixed economy and introduced socially liberal measures. Despite Sanyan's success and popularity the NIPG became unstable and prone to infighting, which is considered the main reason why they lost the presidential election to Jeru Saroyan in 1959. The party split in 1962, and its members moved on to the Socialist Party.

Conservative Party (CP)

Formed in 1950, the CP was the country's principal right-wing party for its first decade, being led by Jeru Saroyan. While its infighting was not as public as the NIPG's, it also suffered from tension between the moderate and the conservative wings of the party (Jeru belonged to the latter).

It won the 1959 presdential election, however Jeru Saroyan's presidency proved to be a disaster for the party. He immediately became unpopular due to his conservative social policy (banning women from joining the National Police, the "militarization" of education which was widely rejected and ignored) and the revelation that he had worked for the Nezraki regional governor during the occupation. Saroyan was thrown out of the party in 1961, serving for the rest of his term as an independent officeholder. Weakened by the moderate wing of the party leaving en masse to form the PDP in 1962, the CP were wiped out in the next elections by the Socialists and finally collapsed in 1966.

Socialist Party (SP)

Formed in 1949, it was the country's main leftist party for its first decades as an independent nation, with its policies advocating a mixed economy combining private enterprise with government regulation and nationalization of important areas of the economy. While enjoying moderate electoral success and supporting the NIPG until 1959, it truly shot to national attention for its spirited opposition to Saroyan and spearheading the 1962 constitutional convention that reduced the President's powers and established the office of Prime Minister, turning Goias into a parliamentary republic. The SP received a boost from an influx of former NIPG members in 1962 and managed to win the 1964 presidential elections.

The SP entered government for the first time in 1969 under the leadership of Tsikan Sanyan's daughter Renata, under whom they merged with the ascending Social Democratic Party in 1972 to form the Moderate Socialist Party.

Partie Progressiste (Progressive) is the main leftist Party in Maurepas, they draw mainly on the ideals of this man: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huey_Long. They are the party of the Chancellor, and Hold a Majority in the National Assembly (lower house) with 56 seats, but are in the Minority in the Superior Council (Upper House) with 6 seats.

Partie Traditionnelle (Conservative) is the main right wing party of Maurepas, and are similar to the Republican Party of the United States. They currently hold a majority in the Superior Council (upper house) with 10 seats, but are a minority in the National Assembly (lower house) with 42 seats.

Third parties in Maurepas are currently not represented in the Superior Council, they include:

Partie de liberté de Maurepas (Reform) with 6 seats in the National Assembly, they are devoted to Fiscal Conservatism and mainly campaign on a platform of spending cuts...

Partie libertaire (Libertarian) with 2 seats in the National Assembly, and are a traditional Libertarian Party campaigning on Small government and the Rights of the Parishes...

Jakra's dominating political party is
The Enclave Party, it has been the main party since the socialist revolution. The Enclave is a liberal Socialist group that believes in large-benevolent government and broad civil rights. The Enclave believes in highly regualted and monitered Free-market economy.
Several smaller competive parties exist (Communist, Social Labor, People's Front, etc). All rightist or conservative parties were outlawed in the revolution but each existing party has conservative members and sects.

The National Lesbian Party - While often laughed at or brushed off as something silly, it is in fact, a major party. It began as a fellowship for girls who were desiring to begin courting a fellow female and eventually gained political momentum and became a political party in the Congress.

The party is generally libertarian though tries to maintain a good centrist base. Naturally it advocates all Homosexual rights and other LGBT topics related. It maintains for a free AHSCA and doesn't wish to impose archaic laws on any of the populous. Naturally the party has a strong base among Homosexulas. It is now the majority party.

The National Islander Party - unofficially it is known coincidentally as the Grand Old Party as it was one of the first parties formed when AHSCA became an independent state and began forming a republican government. The Party ranges from Central to Moderate Conservative. It has the largest voting demographic of any party.

Like it's fellow party the NLP it also is fairly limited in government. Though much of the party doesn't feel the current drug laws are good. The NIP was the majority party until the election of 2008.

The National Christian Party - the NCP is a small party mostly comprised of Christians on the islands, which is a fairly small demographic. It is a mostly conservative party. It's a fairly conservative party that holds many of the core Christian values in the political sphere (no abortion, strong foreign policy etc.)

There are four main political parties in Valladares:

1. The Conservative Party: It is the party with major representation in the Parliament, with 250 seats of 600 available. It is a right-wing party, supports the State-Church union, the protectionism and the defense of the traditional and familiar values.

2. The Liberal Party: This party has the second major representation in the Parliament, with 184 seats. It is a left-wing party. The Liberal Party disapproves the State-Church union and the nationalism. It supports the defense of the individual freedoms and the equality of the people.

3. The Catholic League: The Catholic League has the third major representation in the Parliament, with 125 seats. This party has joined a coalition with the Conservative Party. As the Conservatives, this party supports the State-Church union and the presence of the Church in the Royal Government.

4. The Secular Party: This party has 29 seats in the Parliament. The Secular Party and the Liberal Party have created a coalition to counter the Catholic-Conservative coalition. This party is against the State-Church union and defends the "Secular State" idea.

Socialist Party: The current party "in power" (as Apanii is a Socialist Monarchy, the Queen is actually the one in power but the people vote for President, Vice President, The People's Voice, Se. State, Chiefs Council, Minister of Social Betterment, any Ambassadors for Apanii, Head of Police and Mayors/Governors) Standard Socialist ideals

Liberal Socialist Party: wants to outlaw the death penalty, outlaw guns, deregulate abortion and prostitution (the Queen has been quoted as saying "Ain't gonna happen" in response to the LSP)

Indigenous Purist Party: A fringe group of racially charged extremists who want to either deport all citizens of Apanii with no Indigenous blood or force them onto reservations. They're very much like the Neo-Nazis except they're comprised of mainly people of Indigenous American descent with a small percentage of people belonging to Indigenous populations of other nations. They aren't generally taken seriously during elections and mostly, people make jokes at their expense though in smaller cities situated in less populated areas, the IPP is taken quite seriously. Especially by those they hate. Despite their rhetoric and the fact that the Queen has openly spoken against them, they support her and view her as a "misguided sister"

Apaniian Conservative Party: basically like the American Republican party

Apaniian Anarchist Party: The nations Anarchy party has never had a candidate on the ballot, has never had a meeting (they don't believe in them), don't vote and are mainly comprised of disenfranchised teens who are "totally upset" that the "establishment" provides so much for them. Despite their disorganization (which is a cornerstone of their platform), they have a pleathora of available AAP merchandise which can be purchased at any punk club or from a high school.

OOC: Note, these parties have little semblance to RL parties.

Libertarian Party: (Currently, the Imperial Seat Ardus Virgo belongs to the Libertarian Party) Holds about 70% of the population within its glorious ideology. :D

Beliefs of the Libertarians:
1. Hold onto Ashcroft Island at all costs
2. Conquer more land, and bring it under our total rule.
3. Have total democracy, and have all government positions elected.
4. Since private enterprise is illegal, let the businesses function in the same way as other countries, except have them all be the governments in "name" only.
5. Term limits are irrelevant, as long as the politician is righteous.
6. Maintain a strong military, and a strong central government.

Ashcroft Island Freedom Party: A party that is mostly centrist, except on the hot button issue of the freedom of the Colony of Ashcroft Island. claims about 26% of the population's membership.

Beliefs of the A.I.F.P.:
1. Free Ashcroft Island of the current government.
2. Hold a moderate position on all ideas., other than the Ashcroft Island Freedom movement.

Democratic Party:
is the smallest party in the nation, claiming about 4% of the population under its unholy domain. :P

Beliefs of the Democrats:

1. Depose the Libertarian elitists, who have held onto the countries political structure for about 20 years. 43 of the 62 presidents, have been libertarian, and this is a trend that must be corrected.
2. Move the country into total socialism.
3. Eliminate all trouble-makers, whom pose threats to the party.
4. Give free reign to crime syndicates.
5. Allow voting, only when you vote for the democrats.
6. Install a De-centralized government, and a nominal military for the home-guard.

Liberal Revolutionaries: The Majority political power that has 80% control of the Parliament, and the Prime Minster is also a member of it. They are classified as Liberal Democratic Socialists, but have a strong focus on a strong military

In Greater Americania there is only one legal political party: the Nationalist Party of Greater Americania. However there are small underground fringe groups. These groups are always small due to the fact that members are arrested and given heavy prison sentences for political dissent.

The Whigs

The Whigs are a centrist party and currently hold the most seats in parliament with 147 out of the 396 seats in commons. They have always had a policy of support for the crown, a medium level of taxation, and minimal government interference in daily life of the citizens of the kingdom. As their 147 seats is not a majority, they are in a coalition with the labour party, whose seats give them 60% of the seats.

The Conservatives

The Conservatives are more to the right than the Whigs. Their platform has always been tax-breaks for corporations and lax environmental and labour laws in order to "decrease the burden" on industry and to encourage businesses to locate themselves within the kingdom. They currently hold 107 seats in commons, mostly from Malkier, Kitsap and Saldaea.

The Labour Party

The Labour party is the more left-leaning of the 3 major parties. Their central platform has always been strict government control of business, and increased social spending. They currently hold 91 seats in commons.

The Peace and Freedom Party

The P&F is the Grays Harbor version of the communist party, although they deny any affiliation with communists outside the kingdom. Their small but extemely loyal following continues to gives them 20-30 seats in commons, where they currently hold 22 seats. Their central party platform is the abolition of the monarchy, nationalization of all industry, and disarmament of Grays Harbor as an example for the rest of the heartland to follow. The Social Justice League has been long rumoured to be the action wing of the party, though party officials steadfastly deny this, all the while applauding the "blows for freedom" struck by the SJL.

The Lions of Justice Party

The White Lions are an extreme right wing, neo-fascist party that enjoys scant support in the kingdom. It continues to baffle political analysts how they manage to gain even the meagre support they have, given their extremist policies. Their main platform is the abolition of the monarchy, the nationalization of all industry, and the massive arming of Grays Harbor in order to "rightly claim our place in the sun". They currently hold 17 seats in commons.

The Environmental Liberation Party

The ELP's are the largest single-issue party in the kingdom, whose only platform and cause is "the return of the heartland to its natural state". It is widely accepted that if their extreme environmental measures were ever enacted that Grays Harbor would be unihabitable by humans due to the 'protection measures for all plants, wildlife, and minerals' they wish to see enacted. They currently hold 12 seats in commons, mostly from districts that have large student populations such as Westport, Aberdeen, Copalis, and Montesano. The term most used for members of this party by others is "tree-huggers".

other parties - these parties currently hold no seats in commons

The True Liberal Party

The TruLibs believe that any problem faced by the country can be solved by raising taxes and setting up a bureau for it. Very left wing.

The Sandpipers

The Sandies believe that all birds in the kingdom should be given the same rights and priveledges as the "human occupiers". They have never held a seat in commons.

The Imperial Party

The Imps believe that the Greater Prudentian Empire should be resurrected, by force if nessesary. The last time they held a seat in commons was 1844.

The Environmental Action Party

The EAP's (or APE's as they are known to their opponents) believe that the ELP is too right-wing and that all people living within the kingdom should be relocated to "human preserves" so as to free the country for the plants and wildlife. All mining, fishing, hunting, farming, autos, airplanes, houses and industry would be banned as detrimental to the health of the land. Small wonder they have never held a seat in commons.

The Moralist Party

The Mories believe that all movies rated higher than G should be banned, books should be carefully screened for moral purity, television should be banned, and sexual relations outside marraige should be a capital offense. They have even less support than the APE's and have never held an elected seat, anywhere.

The "I AM THE EMPEROR" Party

The IATE party is the smallest officially and legally registered political party in the Kingdom, with just 7 members. Their leader, Harley O. Mindelson, believes himself the reincarnation of Emperor Eldrick II, founder of the Greater Prudentian Empire, and as such, the Thrones of Grays Harbor, the Commonwealth, and Aerigia should be given to him no questions asked. The other six members of the party are his 3 children, his cousin Sidney, his Mother, Constance Mindelson, and Bob Nevitts (not related to him). His wife, Shirley, is a member of the Whigs. His father, Jervis Mindelson, believes his son is a loon.

Copy+paste from some earlier work I did. I've been thinking of working some radical minarchists and anarcho-syndicalists into the mix.

The Conservative Party of Kriegpanzer (CPK)

The Conservative Party is the oldest party in Kriegpanzer and currently holds the largest numbers in the National Assembly. It is a heavy supporter of the free market, business, defense, and low taxes, and has a moderate view towards civil rights. CPK is a staunch opponent of welfare and exacts much of its support from the middle and upper class, although this hurts it in the lower classes. On the spectrum, it is center-right and somewhat authoritarian. President Henry Ackerman belongs to this party.

The Democratic Labor Party of Kriegpanzer (DLK)

The Democratic Labor Party is another very old party and the CPK's traditional opposition, and the second largest party in the NA. Although it remains a significant force in Kriegpanzer politics, it has had its strength sapped over the years as internal disputes and a lack of real allies (except for the Social Green Party) have taken their toll and is currently threatened by the growing Progressive and National Populist parties. Currently the ruling wing is very much an advocate of socialism and the welfare state, although this is contested by other sections of the party, and there remains a divide amongst party chiefs as to whether revolution or reform is the best way to achieve this. In addition to welfare and business regulation, they party also supports greater government power and occupies a moderate position on civil rights (mostly in opposition to the CPK - gun rights being the archetypal example). It is naturally strong among the lower classes, and is solidly left with no authoritarian or libertarian lean.

The National Liberal Party (NLP)

The National Liberal Party was first created by liberal politicians who put aside their differences with the CPK to share in the foreign policy victories during the late 1800's and early 1900's. As time goes by they have become more conservative in order to distance themselves from the socialist-sliding DLK and are currently center-right; as a result the NLP is often seen as a home for positions that do not have their own party, and is the third-largest party in Kriegpanzer. Should the DLK collapse, it has a good chance leaping into major party status. As staunch supporters of a deregulated economy and defense they are close allies to the CPK, but the NLP's libertarian-leaning view on civil rights, and small differences regarding federal power has kept the two parties from merging. Chancellor Jacob Knight is from this party.

The Progressive Party (PGP)

The Progressives are a fairly new party on the block, having been formed in the early 1970's, and they are the result of more centrist elements of the DLK jumping ship as the party moved towards socialism. They are often described as the left-wing of the NLP, as they occupy the same place on the authoritarian-libertarian scale but lean left on economics, favoring moderate regulation of business and extensive social programs. They're a lot like Lyndon B. Johnson or a less radical Huey Long. Although the party has grown, popular contentedness with the CPK-NLP alliance and competition with the National Populist Party for DLK defectors have rendered it rendered it a largely anecdotal party - for now.

The Kriegpanzer Crusader Party (KCP)

Formed in the 1950's, the Kriegpanzer Crusader Party represents the religious right, still influential in southwestern Kriegpanzer and in rural areas. It knows its place and does not actively campaign outside of these areas. Curiously, while the KCP is staunchly social conservative, it is fairly centrist with a right-lean on economic matters. It is also an occasional member of the CPK-NLP alliance, mainly on key issues where the threat of concessions to left-wing filibusters is deemed too serious to allow.

The Fascist Party of Kriegpanzer (FPK)

The Fascist Party of Kriegpanzer is the country's resident far-right party, with an authoritarian nationalist political and civil outlook and a corporatist economic ideology. It has its smattering of supporters, but it remains a minor force. It's most important contribution to national politics is, much like the KCP, voting with the CPK-NLP on key issues to prevent the left-wing from weakening or filibustering into oblivion important legislation.

The National Populist People's Party (NPP)

The National Populist People's Party is an odd party, curiously mixing anti-communism and ethno-centrism with left-wing economic policies. Like the Progressive's relation to the NLP, the NPP is sometimes referred to as the FPK's left-wing, advocating the same authoritarian nationalist stance, but with a left-wing economic view similar to that of the Progressive's, advocating a plethora of social programs (though they are less staunch on business regulation). As a result the NPP has been beating the the DLK on its own home turf: the working class. It is a party on the rise, and should the DLK collapse, it - along with the Progressives - would be in an excellent position to pick up some of the shards.

The Social Green Party (SGP)

The Social Green Party, formed in the late 1970's, is your usual left-wing environmentalist party, advocating strong business regulation combined with extensive civil rights, although they are not as keen on welfare. The SGP is the DLK's only real ally, and this is their main contribution to Kriegpanzer politics as it is the smallest party of note in the country.

The Kunghotang (Republic(an) Party) is by far the most popular party in Jeuna. There was a split in 1960, forming the Kunghotang (who were now made up of the more cosmopolitan New Moneyists and more nationalist Old Guard) and the Democratic-Progressive Party (who left in a huff because their policies were adamantly rejected by Kunghotang leadership). The Democratic-Progressive Party was a brief contender in 62–67 but after 1971 with the Karsukian Insurgency from 64–73, combined with the Yingang Riots of 64, forget about it.

There are numerous insane parties that have no power whatsoever, namely the Nongfu (anarcho-primitivists), anarcho-capitalists, and anarcho-syndicalists (who were formed by unionist anarchists and Industrial Socialists after their party dissolved and merged with the Democratic-Progressives).

Other historical parties have been the Agrarianist Party (which split into the anarchists and the Nongfu), the Populist Party, which split into the Agrarianist Party and the Party for the Liberation of the Worker (Industrial Socialist Party), the Party of Regions, who campaigned on a platform primarily of Jeunese Federalism, versus the Centralist Party which wanted more State power. Some of the Centralists folded into the Populists (see above), while others tried with Monarchists to revive the Monarchist Party, forming the Democratic Monarchist Party as a more moderate faction. It never caught on, and the fumble ruined several careers. Before all this, politics was primarily divided along the lines of Monarchists versus the Republicans (i.e. the Kunghotang).
