Power Industry

The electricity sector in Seviishima relies heavily on thermal sources, followed by Solar Power generation. Although exploitation of wind, water (hydroelectric) and biomass resources has a large participation as well, geothermal energy is the only renewable source is the biggest contribution to the energy mix.
In the past, as with many developing nations, coal and oil where used in the production of energy although in short range (most citizens would rely better on Fire-types or Electric-types to light up or make machines work). However, as technology advanced, the dependence on fossil resources and pocket monsters began to diminish. The last coal power industry ceased to function on January 2000 in the island of Yonnshima, meanwhile the electric plants depending on pocket monsters (one 'pure electric' in Gokaishima and one Fire-type based on Rokkushima) ceased function in 1976 and 1985 respectively.
On distanced populations,it is still common for people to rely on local generators, which is fed via Solar energy or powered up by the village's/town's pocket monsters regularly.
In a rather strange way to attract more investment on the Power generating industry, many companies have started to sell 'packaged' energy to other countries. These are in the form of large rechargeable batteries which can be attached to the plant's output processing or large bulks of electrically charged Mareep wool. The leftover wool can be used to make hats, coats and other clothing but must contain the tag reading of probably after-shocks when purchased.

Economy Stats

Seviishima's economy contains some of the most rapidly developing modern industrial and service sectors, with increasing private ownership. Recent administrations have expanded competition in ports, railroads, telecommunications, electricity generation, natural gas distribution and the newly invested spaceport, with the aim of upgrading infrastructure. As an export-oriented economy, more than 90% of Seviishima's trade is set under free trade agreements (FTAs). Recently, the Parliament approved important tax, pension and judicial reforms, and an agreement to work with Private Industries in order to lower taxes is currently being debated. According to the recent Forbes Global 2000 list of Absolution's biggest industries, home based 'Aurora Corporation' was among the top 20 in the list.
Additionally to that, an economy project called 'Chitoomu' (from chika'ih to ookeik gy'mmu' Small and Big business' in Lunarian ) have become an important segment of Seviishima's economy. They are classified in two types of small and medium enterprises: family businesses and non-family businesses. The project began in Sannichishima and due it's success has become a base of sustenance among the islands.

Transportation

Transportation in Seviishima is regulated by the Department of Sea and Land Transportation (UCS in Lunarian).
Although highways exist they are, for the most part, toll roads. All toll roads have emergency telephone booths, water wells and emergency braking ramps at short intervals. The toll usually includes a "travelers' insurance" should an accident occur within the freeway. Nonetheless, tolls are, on average, amongst the most expensive within Absolution.
This doesn't seem to be a problem tough: most of transportation through the islands are via cycling roads (which have lanes for bicycles and motorcycles), 'surfing' or flying using their pocket monsters. Some expert psychic-type users have used their partner's skill to teleport around distances.
Cars for personal use where originally banned until 2005; prices, taxes and maintenance, however, are along the most expensive in the world. High class families are most commonly seen owning a vehicle, but rarely use them.
However, motorcycles, scooters and small ATVs are seen as a better and much cheaper alternative; some models being allowed on toll roads by a much cheaper fee than those of cars and cargo vehicles.

Additionally, Seviishima has an extensive network of small yet modern airports all throughout the territory, one per island; flying on aircraft domestically is considered efficient and safe. Few accidents have occurred and those who have happened where handled efficiently with the help of the pilot and copilot's pocket monsters, trained specifically for emergencies. All airports are privately owned.
Inversely, there are many seaports and river ports spread along the archipelago. There are two types of ports: those for Business (used by industries to export-import goods, sell, or transportation of material) and those for Passenger docking. The biggest port for Business is in New Island, where as the biggest port of Passenger docking is in Gokaishima. Although no longer in use, the Military port in Nanashima is used to send and receive international aid as well as to transport refugees and civilians in exile. It also houses the Nanashima Navy Tech school.

Tourism Industry

Tourism in Seviishima is a very large industry. It is one of the biggest destination for foreign tourists within Absolution and is quickly becoming popular among those outside of the region. A recent research shows that the country's Travel & Tourism Economy increased its contribution to 13.2% of the Nation's GDP, growing by 3.8.
The most notable attractions are the traditional settlements within Sannichishima and Niishima, the beach resorts found practically on all islands but most notably on Gokaishima, the ever snowy Mount Kena on Rokkushima and the contemporary New Island. The nation's temperate climate distribution and unique culture also make it an attractive destination. The peak tourism seasons in the country are during December and the mid-Summer, with brief surges the yearly 'New Island Cup Championship, when many Trainers around the globe come to compete for the privilege of calling him/herself the best of the island, and the 'Seviishima Grand Festival' held on June of each year, attracting Coordinators.

Cruises through and towards the islands have become a common sight, with ships as the SS Aurora Borealis and SS Aqua making monthly tours.

Banknotes and Currency

The Kiora (sign: K; code: SSK) is the official currency of Seviis New Island. In the past, each island used to have it's own currency and value which made it difficult to trade goods among them. The imposition of the Kiora by the Supreme Leader Kaiora Trep'lepte, although troublesome in the first years, became one of the many factors which united the islands even more. Ironically, the 'kaiora', based on his name, is of much lesser value (most probably due his unlikely rule eventually). Said kaiora - always written in lowercase - represented by "k" is 1/100 of a Kiora.

Nugget Kiora (NK) where created in replacement for actual gold nuggets, which (at the time of implementation) where valued around 2500 K. Though gold nuggets are still exchangeable, NK have been kept around as a basic standard.

As of now, most transactions have become electronic, though we do continue to use banknotes and coins.

Seviis New Island is an Archipelago conformed by 8 islands. Just as each island seems to have it's own environment and landmarks, each Island its own constitution, congress, and a judiciary, a Civil Leader and Clan Leader. The citizens of each island elect their Civil Leaders via direct voting a governor for a four-year term, and representatives to their respective unicameral 'regional' congresses for the same year terms.

Itsushima - A rocky island which is home of tall trees and a forest. Our best fishing area is said to be found here. Hiking is also an option. Isolated cabins offer a lot of rest for those who want to run away from the busy city life.

Niishima - Is swampy area, prone to a lot of rain. Our major natural reserves are located here. Many of our fruits and vegetables come from here as well. While not as traditional nor alluring as Sannichishima, it also has it's own festivals and customs, similar to those of ancient Amerindians. The Sun is revered here. However, it is also the most advanced in technology, and is home to the Seviishima Defense and Investigation Institute.

Sannichishima - Called the 'Island of 3 Nights'. Our most traditional and spiritual island. If you want to see a different and perhaps rustic side of Seviishima, you are best to come here. Many villages preserve their original landmarks and buildings which date as far as 1530. Many festivities are also done here, specially to the Moon. There is a strange component on the soil which creates a unique tree whose fruit can lead to albinism. Half of the population in this area is albino, and are declared holy.

Yonnshima - Created by a volcano, Yonnshima has a history of many disasters due Mount Kaena. Some brave aboriginal inhabitants live and worship the volcano as their god.

Gokaishima - An arid place, with a Mediterranean touch. It can become quite hot, though. Great beaches are encountered here. Major sport headquarters, specially extreme sports.

Rokkushima - Being the south most island, it tends to have chilly temperatures most of the year. Our famous ski resort is located on this area.

Nanashima - Research have found that Nanashima and Shin Shima are geologically the same, which suggest that they where once a whole island before there was a sudden split. Nanashima is the cultural and arts zone of the nation, hosting the National Language and Culture Institution, the Library of the Nation. It is also host of the first Space Port, opening it's doors officially on March 9th. A designated artificial peninsula located on the east of the island was constructed for this purpose. It was originally thought that the Heir to the Supreme Leadership was from this island which ended up being false.

Shin Shima (New Island) - The Capital-Island of the Archipelago. It takes small bits from each island while being it's own unique ambiance. The nation's economical center, it hosts many business centers and attractions, a variety of amusement parks, our renowned 'Moonlight Hotel' and the Seviishima World Trade Center. A legend says that the moon's reflection is cast each year exactly at Lake Girtina, which makes it look like liquid silver. On that night (said to be February 29), the Sacred Mirror - located supposedly at the lake's bottom - rebounds the holy light from the moon and spreads it to the remaining 7 islands. However, the same lake is to lead to a reverse world when tampered. The current Supreme Leader was created in the island, which makes him the first New Islander in the position of Supreme Leader.

Seviis New Island is an archipelago comprising 8 islands, located in the region of Absolution . It's environmentally stunning ,safe and renowned nation for its keen interest in outer space as well for its complete lack of prisons. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of now 140 million enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated. The capital city is New Island, which is also the largest of the islands in the group.

Seviis New Island is known for it's variety of landscapes, flora and fauna that are remarkably unique to one another. Their ecosystems differentiated by the type of soil and climate condition that affects it. It's highest income comes from tourism, followed by manufacturing, and the processing of natural resources. Sevii's landmarks, history and policies have been modeled after the prominent spirituality of the original natives which arrived to the area, their eventual discovery by colonialist settlers on the 19th century, and the natural disasters that have been prominent on the central islands. Following it's 'regional' independence on 1998, the nation has invested more resources into technological and scientific areas to provide for an eco-friendlier administration and other life improvements. A large private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Book Publishing and Tourism.

Creatures of 'magical' abilities are also prominent through out the island, scattered accordingly their ambiance. These are captured on special capsules referred as monster balls. Once captured, they are trained and often used for competitive battle, although some use it on their daily life as co-workers, as friends or pets.
Due the capsules being able to compact themselves to a smaller size, which are then stashed on pockets, these creatures have been nowadays called 'pocket monsters'. There are still researches on how many they exist and so far, scientist have deemed over 600 species, many not available on the archipelago, which prompts 'Trainers' to begin long journeys to meet them. Our history is very attached to these creatures which have been object of respect, revering or even worshiping. The main religion reflects that: it's principle states that the world began from one egg of life, from which a creature emerged and spread such life through out the universe.

We are an optimistic and friendly Nation which holds a compromise to help others to reach a peaceful goal among each others and to provide support for those in need.
As part of the World Assembly, we wish to bring out new solutions for a better unity and compromise from each region for a better understanding and cooperation from one another.

Supreme Leader of New Island

The position of Supreme Leader is rotated among the islands each time a new one is required. The tradition was settled since the very beginnings of the Nation. This means, that at least 1 person of each of the nobles on the islands can become Supreme Leader. After the current one dies, the next one is picked from the island before it (ie. the last Leader being from Sannichishima, the next one would be chosen from Niishima. If from Niishima, the next one would be taken from Itsushima and so on).
As of now, however, with the death of Mìngyùn Xian in the terrible eruption on Mount Keana occurred on 2010, the Head of the Parliament has taken the role while the Heir, Yuèguāng Huànjué from Nanashima, reaches the needed age to take on his position. The minimum age for a Heir to be active on the matters of the State is 16. However, he can only become Leader at the age of 18.


The Supreme Leader's role is to be the representative of the Leaders of the remaining Sevii Islands (thus the reason behind the 'Supreme'), as well as being the head of the Military and other types of affairs.
Mr. Huànjué's origins where rather shrouded in mystery, having only a knowledge of his physique and prowess by word, him being protected under the New Island law of secrecy, which prevents any information from the heir in line to be leaked outside the world before time. Few did know, however, about his psychic powers and abilities far beyond any human. It was only until recently that his true appearance was revealed: Huànjué was actually a decoy appearance for the most powerful of Pokemon in the world, created on the Capital Island 13 years ago. A coupe d'etat on August began his rocky carrier as the 1st Pocket Monster Supreme Leader of the island, imposing many rules which where supposed to benefit Pocket Monsters in overall. Surprisingly for him , they where against them and rose against their 'savior' alongside their trainers and backed up by the 7 Clan Leaders of the Archipelago. Confounded by this defiance against what was supposed to be the beginning of the ruling of his kind, he restored the prior laws of the island 6 months after being in power. Recently, he has left the island on a quest to understand the human affairs better and the Minister of Foreign Relationships, Xiānzhī Willow. The past Supreme Leader, Michael E. Kalorá declined any attempt to return to power, deciding to become the new CEO of his Father's company, Aurora Corp. The position, while technically not vacant, is currently enforced.

Just like the position of Supreme Leader, the Prime Minister is rotated among the islands. However, the elected Prime Minister does have a limit on it's rule, having only 6 years to do so. The rotation also occurs backwards. This means, that if the last Prime Minister was elected from Sannichishima, the next should be from Yonnshima. This is to ensure that everyone can have a chance to do so. In addition, only public figures - and not nobility - can become Prime Ministers. However, a Prime Minister can become Supreme Leader if he or she decides to and is from the island targeted on the rotation upon selection.

The minimum age to become a Prime Minister is 20. Their job is mostly focused on foreign actions, although they are also comprised to watch closely the actions of the Islands.
The position was created after the "7 times 10 Revolution". The Supreme Leader of that time had died and instead of rolling on to the next island, the Leader of the island of Yonnshima wished to keep on the post, as 'their' Supreme Leader had died. Meanwhile the revolution went on, a 'regency' was established in which each 10 years a Leader from the island would be selected while the war went on. After it was solved, the regency became the Prime Ministry.

While the Prime Minister can decide on certain affairs and roles, it cannot pass on jurisdictions that can affect the island, and should beforehand consult either the Parliament or the Supreme Leader itself. The Prime Minister can also be turned down and replaced if needed.

The Seviishima Leaders


Each Island has it's own individual Civil Leader and Clan Leader.
The Civil Leader is elected by the citizens of the Island (much like the Prime Minister) and the Clan Leader within the Nobles or Clan regent on the island. (much like the Supreme Leader). Both can be exchanged at any time, but within time frames. While Clan Leaders are upon the Clan's or Noble's option, the Civil Leader is elected every 4 years.

The Parliament of Seviishima, located on New Island, is divided equally to host 50 members per island. This makes the Parliamentary building hold 400 people. They are elected each 4 years and can only serve 2 terms.

While we don't have something exactly as a prison, we do have detainee centers where we reform the guilty into becoming better citizens.

Divided on 8 islands, the most populated area is New Island with 35% of the population settled in there. The least populated is Rokkushima, with only 1 million.

Diversity Stats

LGBT rights in Seviishima are probably the most friendly on that regard. The LGBT community have most of the same legal rights as non-LGBT citizens, and are extended more legal rights than many other nations where homosexuality is legal. Ever since the regional independence of 1998, Seviishima has offered civil marriage rights nationwide to same-sex couples.
While same-sex sexual activity is not criminalized, the age of consent is 18 for anal sex under section 85 of the 'Laws of Cohabitation of the Islands', but is 16 for all non-anal sex, regardless of sexuality of the participants, since 1980.
Social attitudes towards the LGBT community are highly accepting. New Island, the Capital, has one of Absolution's best known gay districts, and Bisexuality is common on Gokaishima.

All 8 islands and territories of Seviis New Island have a human rights act that prohibits discrimination and harassment on several grounds (e.g. race, sex, religion) in private and public sector employment, housing, public services and publicity. Some acts also apply to additional activities. Human rights acts are quasi-constitutional laws that override ordinary laws as well as regulations, contracts and collective agreements.They are typically enforced by human rights commissions and tribunals through a complaint investigation, conciliation and arbitration process that is slow, but free, and includes protection against retaliation. Lawyers are not required.

Human rights and many of the regional laws of the own Islands also prohibit discrimination against pre-operative, transitioning and post-operative transsexual persons, though the protection is explicit only in Gokaishima, Nanashima and Sannichishima, where "gender identity" is explicitly listed as a ground in the human rights act.

LGBT people have also partaken on important positions within the Seviishima goverment agenda and have also been both Leaders and Prime Ministers. The current Prime Minister is an open Bisexual where as the current Clan Leader of Nanashima is a Transsexual female; Also to mention the openly Gay Clan Leader and Civil Leader of Sannichishima, as well as the heir to Clan Leadership on Gokaishima, Umino Ryuuzaki, well known for his prowess as a surfer.

Couples are free to Marry, Divorce and adopt children, so long as they fulfill the needed pre-requisites. Couples from other Nations are widely accepted and welcomed as well. Seviis New Island has been a known destination for LGTB cruises and marriages, making it a big part of the Tourism agenda as well.

Religion
Seviishima's population most prominent religion is Arceaussora (in the 2005 census, 73.9% of the population 5 and older identified themselves as such).
Arceaussora is the belief of the world being created by a single pocket monster, Arceus (hence, the name). In a void of nothingness, a single egg came into being, which then hatches into Arceus, the first Pokémon to be in existence. Arceus creates Dialga, Palkia, and possibly Giratina and gives Dialga and Palkia the abilities to control time and space. Giratina is banished into another dimension for its behavior. Then, during very early formation of the world, possibly sooner, Arceus creates Azelf, Uxie, and Mesprit to create willpower, knowledge, and emotion respectively, attributes that are in all modern humans and the pocket monsters. They dive to the bottom of present-day Lake Valor, Lake Acuity, and Lake Verity - located in the Sinnoh region - respectively, dubbing the term "the lake guardians." Around this time, Mew came into being by itself, containing the DNA of every Pokémon to exist in the future.

About 5.2% of the population classified themselves as Protestant or Evangelic, 2.1% were classified as "Non-Evangelical Biblical" (a classification that groups Adventists, Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses), 0.05% as practicing Jews, and 2.5% without a religion and the rest to other religions.

Since the rise of the new Supreme Leader, all forms of worship where banned for the first quarter of the year. However, the cultural impact was quickly to be expected: due to the tight ties between the ancient Religion and the modern celebrations derivate to it, bringing consequences to the people on all 7 remaining islands and bringing a turmoil akin to a civil rising. Under the advice of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Relationships, the religious services and legality went back to normal, even though the Supreme Leader is a keen promoter of Atheism and science. Most Pocket Monsters have resented this even, regarding his rule too authoritarian and controlling on thoughts. Having this other view, he has decided to step down in such manners and lead the people and pocket monsters in peace, though still supporting Atheism greatly.


Language
The most important and de facto official language in Seviishima is Japanese. The language gained a variety of dialects, accents and variations from one island to another, sometimes merging with the original island's language.
In second place comes Lunarian, which is mostly spoken in Sannichishima and expanded majorly in the 9th century. Solarian, the rival language spoken by the nobles and high society of Niishima, has lost it's original terrain and has fallen to be practically used by this group. The Minister of Foreign relationships, a native Niishiman, is trying to enforce it's uprising although the own Noblemen are trying to keep it secretive as to keep a status quo. The last of the native langauges is Akrke'ah, spoken by the Lar'ka kai tribe in Yonnshima.
Other languages used mostly for foreign relationships are English, Spanish and lately German.

Seviishima Education Programs

Education standards are set by the Ministry of Public Education at all levels except in "autonomous" universities chartered by the government. Accreditation of private schools is accomplished by a mandatory approval and registration with this institution.
The current Constitution, dating from 1856, provides that education should avoid privileges of religion, and that one religion or its members may not be given preference in education over another. Religious instruction is prohibited in public schools; however, religious associations are free to maintain private schools, which receive no public funds. Proof of citizenship is required to attend public schools for free, but foreigners can attend public schools by paying a tuition.

In the same fashion to other education systems, education may be described in identifiable stages, such as Primary School, Junior High School, High School, Higher education, and Postgraduate education.

Basic education is normally divided in three steps: Primary school, comprising grades 1-6; junior high school or Secondary School, comprising grades 7-9; and High school or Preparatory school, comprising grades 10-12.

Etymology

Seviishima comes from Lunarian, meaning 7 Islands (Sevii = Seven , Shima = island). This predates before the islands went under the current veil of "7 islands, 1 union" enacted in the late XVIII century. Each island's name regards the position or number in which they where charted:

Shin Shima means, literately, New Island since it was the last island populated by the original inhabitants. While revered as the 8th and Final island, current geological data suggest that Nanashima and Shin Shima where originally 1. What made them separate or actually create a hole between them, is still a mystery. However, Nanashimians already saw their Shin Shima compatriots as one, calling it a sister island and including it on it's political engagements. After the Islands reunited to form one government, the once Nanashimian territory of Shin Shima became the Capital and Neutral island where the power was to reside.

The correct way to call the Nation is Shin Shima no Seviishima rather than 'New Island' or Shin Shima. Naming the Capital Island by itself will only regard to it alone. The nation's name, which translates to Seviishima's New Island, makes it clear to both foreign and native that New Island is part of the whole 7 Island conglomerate and it only leads them.
Interestingly, though, locals refer to their own nation as 'Seviishima Chihō' or Seviishima Region, engulfing all islands regardless of their position in power.
This fact is because, historically, Seviishima used to be part of the Kantō Region (Kantō Chihō), and it's official league representation came from New Island.

First inhabitants

The Three Ancient Tribes

It is unsure where the fist inhabitants came from, but scholars agree that most of them have occurred on the "Islands of Origin" (Niishima, Sannichishima and Yonshima). These first colonizers, adventurers and Trainers which where to seek out wonders among the seas, settled on the islands by separate conducts, importing their culture and beliefs into the islands. The vast cultural and language differences point to them having settled from far places or that they had no contact with each other until the first travels among the other islands.
These travelers gave birth to the Three Ancient Tribes of Seviishima: Lunarian, Solarians and Akrke'ahns.
The Lunarians, with roots from Kanto, proven to be bold and where the ones who expanded their influence the fastest among the islands, most noticeably on the trips of the Seabiss on 250 A.C, discovering the far south island of Rokkushima around the year 630.
The Solarians, much more reserved with roots from Shinnoh, developed their technology and cities with an astonishing rate, making Niishima one of the biggest and most populated areas in the Region, until New Island's discovery.
Arke'ahns where much more interested in exploring the spiritual sense of the place they have arrived and adopted as home. Having roots from Hoenn, they had a keen balance between man and terrain, offering sacrifices in both human and animal sense to serve their gods. They believed their island to be the sacred land they have fought so long to found and thus found no reason to leave the island.

First Trips among the Islands

The advances and curiosity among the Lunarians and particularly the Solarians, made it an inevitable fact that they would move out to seek for further regions to exert their power and conquer. As mentioned, the Lunarians went as far as to discover what would become Rokkushima, though they where unprepared to find such desolated and cold area, with constant blizzards and snow. Even if they where used to chilly temperatures, they never expected such climate on a place considered warm and left it drift for over a thousand years. Heading north to avoid the cold, they found a large Lunar-like island (according to writings) from which they decided to stay and spread out their lineage and seek out for more terrain. Eventually, further north, they would discover the much more warm Gokkaishima, which they enjoy quite pleasantly.

Solarians, much more organized travelers, went to the closest island they could find: Itsushima. They where marveled by the
tall mountains which where very similar to Mount Coronets and gave it the honor of 'Island closest to God'. Finding themselves with such place, the Solarians restricted the island to all those who where not prepared or not of sacred lineage (priests most of the time). Going south, they found Yonnshima, already inhabited by the Arke'ahns which had been isolated for more than a thousand years. The Arke'ahns, not used to such people, attacked the envoys until they fled terrified. The Island went to be called "Island of Hellish Fire", not exactly due the Volcano in the middle of the island (as they didn't drift further in).
Not wanting to give up, they went further south to find the exact same island the Lunarians had encountered the before: the crescent moon island. This was the place where both races met for the first time and shared their beliefs. For many centuries, they lived in harmony, each with their own costumes and language heading side by side. These would mix up to form the main religion of Seviishima up until now: Arceaussora.
With the help of the Lunarians, the Solarians ventured once more into the mysterious Yonnshima and established a union with their leader, inviting them to form a united kingdom. The Arke'ahns agreed, with the condition they would let them rule themselves.
The region of Seviishima , united by a same religion and constants, seemed to have no problem and the "United Region of Solarahn" came to be.

Separation and War

Things, however, couldn't last too long.
The population in the islands began to grow, much rapidly from the Lunarians, and soon their main islands couldn't seem to hold them for too long. The problem furthered more in the fact that, although the same religion, there where different ways to enact it. The Lunarians, as the name suggests, revere the Moon as their guide, the Solarians go for the sun. Arke'ahns never understood this point, noticing the importance of both elements and the Mother Earth, but being such an isolated island, it came not into account. The tensions grew as, in order to further unite the islands and try to take control over for themselves, the Solarians proclaimed a law in which the Sun was the main source of power and reverence. The Lunarians, feeling insulted, began a dispute which would quickly erupt into war. Niishima and Sannichishima, bases of these two powers, quickly began to recruit the islands and question their loyalty. Yonnshima remained neutral.
The Lunarians attacked Itsushima and defaced the Sun-based decors to reflect how mocked they felt at the imposition of belief, which caused a great deal of anger to the Solarians. Gokkaishima was witness of a gruesome battle which caused great causalities on both sides. The Solarians, although equipped with a higher end technology than the Lunarians, where nothing against their growing number and supporters. This war, according to the "Book of Sadness" - a compilation of the last battle of this war - was which broke down the unity of Nanashima and Shin Shima. The islands used to be one until the great explosion which cast a hole between the islands. Wether this was possible with pocket monsters (which where still pretty much wild on the time), with 'boom powder' from the Solarians or a geological coincidence, is unknown. Eventually, the Lunarians won the battle, with few Solarians left to continue. They retreated to Niishima where they continue being until today.

Public holidays in Sevishima were established by the Law of National Holidays and days of Worship (国民の祝日と礼拝の日の法則, Kokumin no shukujitsu to reihai no hi no hōsoku) created in 1968. A provision of the law establishes that when a national holiday falls on a Sunday, the next working day shall become a public holiday, known as Bridge Holidays (橋の休日 in Japanese). Additionally, any day that falls between two other national holidays shall also become a holiday.

Day of the First Sun (Saisho no taiyō no Nichi)	January 1	This is the most sacred of the holidays for Niishimans, and is celebrated as New Years on the island. On the remaining parts of the archipelago, it is observed as well although not as detailed. In Niishima, the celebration can go as long as the whole month. Fire-type pocket monster Trainers also regard highly this celebration as they see the new sun part of energy for their partners. Although not prescribed by law, many workplaces are closed from December 29 to January 3.
Coming of Age Day (Seijin no Hi)	Second Monday of January	This national holiday was established as a day to congratulate and encourage people those new Trainers who are about to embark on their journey. By this time, they have reached the proper age (10) and are given a starter pocket monster to begin their quest to become the best.
Night of the First Moon (Getsumen no Yoru-hatsu)	Second Friday of February	This is the most sacred of Holidays for Sannichishimans and regarded as the New Year's eve in Seviishima. Decorations and paper lanterns are commonly seen on the streets and families gather together to celebrate. All business are closed for the weekend. Niishimans, though, observe it with measure. Psychic and Dark Trainers may dedicate this to their partners.
Soul Week (Tamashī no shū)	Last Week of February	Similar to Christian Lent, this week is dedicated to purify the soul and replenish energy from both human, pocket monster and basically all life. A gorgeous celebration is made on New Island on it's famous crescent shaped 'Tsukigami' lake, which is seen as a mirror to another world. Rice cakes and special poffins called 'KitsuKitsu' are shared among the young.
Regional Independence Day	February 24	It celebrates Seviishima acquiring Independence from the Kanto region, becoming it's own.
Spring Day (Haru no Hi)	Around March 20	This national holiday was established as a day for the admiration of nature and the love of living things. Grass type and bug type are also celebrated
Children's Day (Kodomo no Hi)	April 30	This national holiday was established in 1948, as a day on which to esteem the personalities of children and plan for their happiness. On this day, and for some time before it, families who have children in their home may fly koi streamers and decorate their homes with dolls and toys.
Greenery Day (Midori no Hi)	May 4	This national holiday is celebrated as a day to commune with nature and be grateful for its blessings. Grass type pocket monsters are hold on high regard on this day
Seviishima Grand Festival (Seviishima no Gurandofesutibaru)	Third week of June	A week dedicated to Grand Festival: a competition where Coordinators show their best skills, grace and power on their moves. To participate, you must have the 5 ribbons from Seviishima or at least 10 of any other region.
Day of the Ocean (Umi no Hi?)	Third Monday of July	This national holiday is one of the oldest holidays of the Nation. Established in 1865 it is a day of gratitude for the blessings of the oceans and for hoping for the prosperity of the maritime nation that is Seviishima. Water type pocket monsters are given blessings and treats.
Respect-for-the-Aged Day ( Keirō no Hi)	Third Monday of September	This national holiday was established in 1966 as a day to respect the elderly and celebrate long life.
Autumnal Equinox Day (Shūbun no Hi?)	Around September 21	This national holiday was as a day on which to honor one's ancestors and remember the dead. Ghost pokemon have a special dedication on this day
Pokemon Championship Week (Pokemon senshuken shū)	Second Monday of October	Starting the second Monday of October, the yearly Seviishima Pokemon Championship begin. Requisites to participate are to have the 8 badges of the Gyms in the Nation or a minimum of 16 badges from other regions. Regalia and souvenirs are popular on this week.
Harvest day (Shūkaku no Hi)	October 23rd	This national holiday was established in 1948 as an occasion for praising labor, celebrating production and giving one another thanks. It is also a day thanking for the harvested goods and dedicated to Ground type pocket monsters.
Culture and Technology Day ( Bunka to Denshi no Hi)	November 3	This national holiday was established in 1948. It is recognized as a day to celebrate peace and freedom and promote culture. It is also called 'Nanashima's day', due to it's high dedication and support on this regard. Electric and Steel types are also celebrated. On the week after the date, large expos on both regards are held.
National Foundation Day (Kenkoku Kinen no Hi)	November 19	This national holiday commemorates the day in which the 8 islands signed a pact to become united as one whole nation. It is also called 'New Island's Day' due to it also being the foundation day of said island.
Winter Star day(Fuyu no Hoshi no Hi)	Beginning December 21st	This national holiday is held through out the week starting the 21st. It is a family celebration which unites families into retelling their doings of the year. Presents and gifts are a traditional form of celebration, akin to Christmas. Ice pokemon are given a special regard. In Rokkushima, it's called 'Snowflake Star day' and it's dedicated to the story of Princess Kena and how she brought peace to the island.
