Once people reach 18 years of age they need to serve at least 1 and a half years of military service.

Out of our total military personnel which is 260,000..

35% (91,000) of our personnel are conscripts serving their year and a half of compulsory military service.
65% (169,000) of our personnel are voluntary members.

Voluntary members get paid for their service and people serving their compulsory service are given an allowance while they serve. Alot of people also enlist as a voluntary member after serving their compulsory service.

That being said, we have a hypermilitaristic culture; yet we do not really have a "military" as in a unified armed forces, instead we have countless militias and corporate/syndicate security forces. It difficult to find anyone who is not connected with these organisations in one way or another.

All those who complete national service are given the opportunity to be fast-tracked to officer training after a further 4 years of service should they wish.

Columbian law does not regard conscription as slavery.

Further, it should be noted that conscripts would likely be "pushed" more during training than would recruits who were volunteers.

To whom it may concern,
The nation of Oiseaui has historically believed in freedom of the people in the majority of their choices; the right to serve in our military is no different. However, our nation is fiercely nationalistic and focuses greatly on our defense and military so lack of people who want to join is never an issue.

When one joins the military, they are expected to serve for a minimum of five years and within the first year they must work to fall within the exacting physical standards of the Oiseauian Armed Forces. For age and gender, there is a sliding scale as to what those standards are exactly. Generally our citizens are relatively physically fit, so this one year period normally consists of building of musculature. If one cannot get within a reasonable percentage of our physical standards, they are discharged from service.

Where age is concerned, we allow citizens to join as young as 17 and as old as 35. Members may serve for as long as they pass the required physical standards, which generally equates to 55 years old. The only exception to this are military bureaucrats, lawyers, or technology based soldiers who have more more relaxed physical conditions which must be met.

Mandatory only in time of dire circumstances. We have drafts and public announcements when those times come, but it's all volunteer elsewhere.

Six years. Any more is too crucial to the mind, any less and not enough would be known about the field.

However, 30% of our population own a licence to fly planes- they can bee seen all over the main cities of Zairoon, either flying for recreation or to get to A to B. When Zairoon declares war, they are given the choice to partake, and when Zairoon is invaded it is up to them to flush the enemy out of our nation.

During formation of Bewaffnetland it was 100% drafted, but as of now it is 100% voluntary. During times of war it goes back to 100% drafted.

Even though people can voluntarily join (for now), Military is number one in Bewaffnetland. So citizens must spend 2 full years in the Military at age 18 (unless they have already joined).
