The History of West Guiana

What is known today as the United Federal States of West Guiana was once part of the mighty Empire of Galouse that was created out of hundreds of years of consistent war, the first person to cease control of the area was Emperor Lord Van Housker who quickly became known to those he ruled over as a tyrant and had anyone who opposed any of his ideas killed. Emperor Lord Van Housker only ruled from 467?AD to 490?AD, until according to what little evidence that is left from that time shows that he was killed by one of his servants who then quickly proclaimed himself as Emperor.

The Wester Age
Most notably the only time in the regions history when such economic and diplomatic growth has ever occurred, it is the one of the few times when the area now called West Guiana wasn't in a consent war and the first time when the people of the area were permitted to live the way they wanted.
Emperor Dikeston Wester II took control of the Empire after he killed Emperor Lord Van Housker once being fully recognized he immediately created the Emperor's Guard which would serve both the Emperor, but also the people. Emperor Wester abolished the old national army and re-created a new one that would help protect the people and defend the cities, which unlike the old one did nothing when rouges were attacking the cities. The new national army in which it was called had its first real test when the neighboring rouges invaded expecting an easy win, they however soon found that their decision would be their last. Two months after the rouges invaded the National Army defeated them and their leader Duke Yorkshire was sentenced to death.
However no golden age ever lasts an that was the case with Emperor Wester, he died in AD 547, yet however two years earlier the Council of the Empire passed a law that even after death the Emperor still rules for five more years. So Emperor Wester II ruled from 490 to 552 AD, in his 62 years in power Emperor Wester created new councils that improved the life in Galouse for both poor and rich.

The Rouge Years
There is little history left from this time, mostly because those who ruled at this time banned all forms of written documents and what documents there already were, were burned. What is known is that the empire went through a religious state in which each emperor in-forced his or her own religion in which all citizens were forced to worship, those who still practiced worship in the old ways were burned at the stake or tortured in any way or form. This era in history lasted from 687 to 1263.

The Kingdom of Alkoul
In the year 1261, Lord Hamplit the religious and main advisor to Emperor Kingsted, created an army paid for by himself to overthrow the Emperor. This type of act would of had him placed in exile or he would have been beheaded, mainly because he was indeed one of Emperor Kingsted's most trusted advisor's the Emperor thought he was raising an army to protect Galouse. By mid summer of that same year while Emperor Kingsted was sleeping one of Lord Hamplits men went into the royal chambers and killed Emperor Kingsted.
The following day Lord Hamplit declared himself King of the Kingdom of Alkoul, which means "Strong" in Alkoulian language that few people at this time spoke.
One of the most notable ideas that King Hamplit created in the kingdom was a parliament in which members were voted into. Alkoul was one of the world first Parliamentary Democracies. Those in the Kingdom who were permitted to vote was also a first, both men and women over the age of 26 were allowed to voted, until 1345 when they Voting Act was passed, which lowered the age down to 23. King Hamplit ruled until 1312 when his son, Prince Mock Hamplit I was crowned King.

It wasn't till 1678 when Alkoul would have an other king who would implement new ideas into the world. In 1678 King Ronald Myto came to power and one of his favorite ideas was to annex Alkouls neighbor the Kingdom of Pine. At this time his "idea" was some what insane do to the fact that the Kingdom of Pine had an army three times the size of Alkouls, but King Myto thought of a way around this, he knew that Pine was in financial trouble after waging war with its neighbor the Queendom of Zerica, in which left the country deeply in debt, so much in fact that it wasn't able to pay its army. So with a majority vote in favor, Alkoul sent a diplomatic party to Pine City the Kingdom of Pines' capital, to have them agree on a deal that would make the kingdom of Pine part of Alkoul. It worked.

In 1878, the Kingdom of Alkoul was at war, with its main enemy; The Republic of Zerica, was a nation that hated any type of nation that had a monarch has its ruler. The war lasted four six long years, until a formal treaty was signed ending the Kingdom-Republic War, however peace between the two nations wouldn't last long.
in 1909 the Republic of Zerica had, had enough with the Kingdom of Alkoul and launched an invasion force of nearly 150,000 to force the kingdom to dissolve, it almost worked. King Ronald II offered to have the kingdom dissolved on the very day he died. King Ronald Piaoto II died on July 17, 1932, after nearly 670 years the Kingdom of Alkoul was no more.

The New Beginning
After 1932 and after Zerica left, the region was in shambles were once was a strong and glorious nation was now split into two states that didn't agree on anything. These two states were Kandoa and West Guiana, the Fantoans wanted one leader holding all power, while the West Guianans wanted a equal democracy. After throwing some punches at each other the West Guianans split off and formed the Kingdom of West Guiana. This move angered the Zericans, but at this time their nation was about to fall appart, so they were unable to intervene.

The Kingdom of West Guiana was starting off on the wrong foot, the government and its people weren't eye to eye on many issues, the government created an army, to which upset most of the population who though money should go towards domestic issues. The royal family at this time was also split on what to do it wasn't till 1956 when the problem was solved.

The Democratization War of 1956
In late January of 1956 a group of people called Lovers of Freedom swore by the end of that year the Kingdom and monarchy would fall. By June of that year, they gathered enough people 1.6 million that would march on Gemsbrook, they were meet by the national police, who were ready for anything, that they thought. The protesters stormed to them and the police quickly retreated. Most of the mod soon stormed through the West Guianan Capital building, in which Parliament was in session. The leader of the group Donald J. Wilf along with some 400 others forced parliament and the King to resign their positions.
It really wasn't a war, but many called it one because three hours after the overthrow 1,000 Kingdom troops fired shots at the mob, who in return charges at the troops throwing rocks at them. It wasn't till 12:30 the next day when the Kingdom flag was lowered at the Free Peoples Republic of West Guiana Flag was raised.

The West Guiana of Today
After 1956, West Guiana went through a power struggle, which didn't end until the Charter of 1984 was signed, which fully established the current nation, that we see today. West Guiana since 1984 has been involved in wars, but none were very bad, along with some struggles for power in the West Guiana National Congress. That was until recently when on August 1, 2010 the WGSP, West Guianan Socialist Party did the unthinkable, planted a bomb in the building were Pres. Alford Calman was going to vote. This plunged West Guiana into Civil War which was re-ignited after the east announced that it'll have live fire drills near the DMZ.

However though in November of 2010 it was discovered after the The Democratization War of 1956 there was a treaty of sorts that was made up, that in 50 years time the royal family of West Guiana is to be re-situated as heads of state. When this was discovered oddly enough an overwhelming majority of citizens though it a nice idea to have a royal family, so on November 25, 2010 the royal family of West Guiana were crowned. King William IV and Queen Emily Houser, however Emily divorced William in December of 2010. Then in late February of 2011 with a majority vote of 98% the West Guiana National Congress dissolved the monarchy seeing that there was no reason for it also in that same month President Samuels signed into law that no political party can't ever be banned, with that the West Guiana Socialist Party and United Peoples Party(Communist) were made legal again. In the March 1, congressional elections voters overwhelmingly voted the WGSP back into office and gave them control of the house and presidency(Pres. Samuels switched back to his old party).

The Government
The nation of West Guiana is a Federal Republic, in which the nation is split into four provinces, Alkoul, West, Myto and East. Each of the four has its own government, but is under jurisdiction of the national government and at any time the national government can abolish the Provençal governments.
The national government its self has a main body called The National Congress, to which members are elected into every other 3 years. The National Congress is spreated into two bodies, Senate and House. The House seats 260 members which are elected every three years, while the Senate seats 40, ten senators from each province.
West Guiana has a two major parties, the Democratic-Republicans and the West Guiana Socialist Party. The government has only one time in history banned a political party, this one time came on August 7, 2010 when the National Congress overwhelmingly made the West Guiana Socialist Party illegal with a 289 to 11 vote. Which then was over-ruled under a new law that made that or any future act like that illegal.
The Office of the Presidency is the highest elected office in the nation, the current President is David Simon Samuels, who exceeded to the presidency after the impeachment of Pres. Beverly Humpington on January 17th, 2011. In August of 2010 the nation lost two presidents both because of assassination; Pres. Alford Calman was killed on August 1, and Don Humm on August 16th.
The president is elected by the people every five years, on August 1st, and must have at lest a simple majority of the popular vote.
Markus Samuels became the 11th president of West Guiana on January 17, 2011.

National Symbols

Flag
Image
Installed in March of 2011 it is the fifth flag the country has flown in just as many years, however this one was adopted with out any opposition towards it. Unlike previous flags this one represents West Guiana much better. The four stripes in the upper left-hand corner represents the four provinces, Alkoul, East, West and Myto. The national Coat of Arms is in the center(see coat of Arms).
The colors:
Blue: Represnts the ocean for which West Guiana is surrounded on three sides.
White: Stands for peace and unity.
Red: Red stands for the blood that has kept West Guiana free, and stands for the many civil Wars the nation has suffered through.

National Coat of Arms

The West Guiana Coat of Arms also has history made into it, the two birds on both sides are the national bird, the Black Jay-Hawk which is only called such for that it only comes out in the evening and appears black, the shield represents the past and the royal families that once ruled over the nation. On the very top it shows a torch which also stands for peace and unity.
