Official History

The Kingdom of Manticore Reborn is the Successor State to the Star Kingdom of Manticore, which was wiped out by a doomsday biological weapon launched by rogue elements from the former People’s Republic. More then half a million human survivors, accompanied by approximately one hundred thousand treecat survivors, fled the Manticorian system and colonized a new world that they dubbed New Manticore. Establishing the city of New Landing on a large island in the Southern Hemisphere of the planet, the Kingdom’s population expanded rapidly due to regulated breeding programs. As the population grew, additional cities were founded on the continent of Winton although the majority of the planet is still not colonized. After 157 years since the founding of the Kingdom of Manticore Reborn, the government has decided it is time to come out of hiding and reestablish itself on the international stage.

Military Information

The military of The Kingdom of Manticore Reborn is split into two branches, The Royal Manticorian Navy and the Royal Manticorian Marine Corps. Since the majority of the original colonists of New Manticore were military personnel, most families have a military tradition and members of the military are held in high esteem by the populace of the Kingdom. Recently, when the decision was made to reenter the international community, both branches of the military have begun a massive expansion.


Standard of the Royal Manticorian Stellar Navy

Light Attack Craft - Light Attack Craft (LACs) are short-range vessels that mass between 20,000 to 60,000 metric tons. They are capable of being launched from a planet’s surface as well as being carried in carriers. They are used for both police work as well as battle line support. At present, the Royal Navy has two classes of LACs in service.

Government and Politics - Work in Progress

The Government of the Kingdom of Manticore Reborn is essentially unchanged from that of its predecessor with some minor changes.

Executive Authority
Head of State
The crowned sovereign is the Head of State for the Kingdom of Manticore Reborn. The Crown has the power to grant amnesty and commute punishment, nominate and dismiss the Prime Minister, introduce legislation and grant noble titles. By law, the Crown must marry someone who is not a Peer of the Realm and not a member of a Peer’s immediate family.

Head of Government
The Head of Government for the Kingdom of Manticore Reborn is embodied in the position of Prime Minister. The Prime Minister is nominated by the Crown and subject to approval by both houses of Parliament. The term of office of the Prime Minister is limited by a vote of no confidence by either House of Parliament or dismissal by the Crown with the dismissal confirmed by both houses of Parliament.

Crown Council
The Crown Council handles the role of managing government services in the Kingdom of Manticore Reborn. The Crown Council is composed of the Prime Minister and individual ministers, with the current monarch presiding. The Crown Council submits the budget of the Kingdom to Parliament annually.

Legislative Authority
The Parliament
The Kingdom of Manticore has a bicameral Parliament, consisting of two chambers, the House of Lords and the House of Commons. Both Houses may introduce legislation. In order to become law, the legislation must be passed by majority vote in both houses and receive Crown Assent. The Crown may veto legislation in whole or part or refuse to grant Assent, such veto or non-Assent may be overridden by ¾’s majority of either House.

The House of Lords
To be eligible to sit in the House of Lords, one must be a Peer of the Realm, have their seat approved by the House of Commons and accepted by the current membership of the House of Lords. Once accepted into the House of Lords, they serve a life term unless ejected by the chamber. The House of Lords approve the budget submitted by the Crown Council and approved by the House of Commons.

The House of Commons
To be eligible to sit in the House of Lords, one must have been a tax-paying citizen of the Kingdom of Manticore Reborn for five New Manticorian years. The term of office is limited to no more then five New Manticorian years unless a Bill extending the term passes both Houses and receives Crown Assent. The House of Commons may also be dismissed by Act of the Prime Minister with Crown Assent and approval by the House of Lords. The House of Commons reviews the annual budget and may make amendments or deletions by simple majority vote. However, in order for the budget to be accepted, it must receive a 2/3’s majority before being referred to the House of Lords for approval.
