Citizenship in YN

Postby Huswyae » Tue Jul 26, 2016 6:31 am

In Huswyae, we have an immigration and citizenship system that means that those who just want to live in Huswyae for the sake of it have a harder time getting in.Huswyaen Citizenship costs 5000 of whatever currency you have to obtain if your circumstances mean you don't have a legal reason to be in Huswyae, however, you can obtain citizenship for free.

You will get citizenship for free for the following reasons, because these reasons mean you legally have a reason to be in Huswyae:
  • You have family who live in Huswyae . They will not need to vouch for you. If you have family in Huswyae, you will be allowed to obtain citizenship for free, end of!
  • You work for a Huswyaen based company that has asked you to work in Huswyae.
  • You are a refugee who has lived in Huswyae for 3 years, and have no intentions of going back to your home nation.
  • You are from The Intergalactic Universe Corporation and earn more than 100,000 Rossoes a year (around 10 billion credits).
  • You are from Locuterris and earn more than 100,000 Rossoes a year (around 120,000 Argents).
  • You are from The Free Nations of the North. Everyone from that region has the right to live in Huswyae.
  • 5000 of whatever currency you have makes citizenship really cheap.
  • You are a teacher in Huswyae (we value education a bit too much

Of course with the family method, one family member can buy citizenship, move to Huswyae, and then the whole family can move to Huswyae. The government call this United Migration, and we heavily encourage this, and even persuade families to Unitedly Migrate to Huswyae if we feel they'd benefit here.
The Libertarian Provinces of Huswyae
We are Huswyae. We are an advanced nation and one of the most developed an successful in existence. But don't let this fool you, we are dodgier than we look. Corporations are allowed to veto laws they do not support. Half of our politicians are members of anonymous. Tell us we aren't corrupt!
We are libertarian, right-wing, Fiscally conservative, and capitalist. The current ruling party is Libertarian Capita, therefore Huswyae does represent my political beliefs! Proud Right-Libertarian nation!
It is pronounced Huss-wye.

Imperial nationality law is mostly based upon Jus Sanguinis, meaning that you are a citizen if one of your parents is a citizen. Some restricted Jus Soli is used, but only if they are Auzkhian non-citizen residents. Dual or multiple citizenship is possible if you have nationality from another EU country.

In Tulais, citizenship can not be bought and is a rather long and drawn out process. From the onset, an immigrant coming to Tulais has to declare their intentions of becoming a citizen before they even arrive. A person on a worker permit can not suddenly decide to seek citizenship, they must leave the country and apply as an immigrant seeking citizenship.

Immigration is very restrictive in Tulais, with the government and people having been historically opposed to opening the doors to foreign cultures and their ideologies. Tulais is a country of Tulesians and for them; it does not have a tradition of multiculturalism. For immigrants to become citizens, they must pass various tests that indicates their grasp of Tulesian culture. We expect full assimilation and won’t settle for less.

Furthermore other requirements exist, such as seeing if the immigrant in question will be a productive member of Tulesian society and add to the economy. Generally uneducated and “cold job” seekers will be denied out of fears that they won’t find a career easily in Tulais.

We don't really have a concept of "citizenship". Anybody who lives here is treated the same and there are no restrictions on who can live here. We find that the nations with the most restrictive citizenship requirements tend to be the ones that people would least want to be a citizen of.

If you are in Arachaea for at least six months, you can register for free as a citizen, which requires for you to give passport, tax and voting information, and once that is done you can become a citizen. It's pretty easy to enter the country; non-Schengen citizens just need a passport and will be let in if they're not a violent criminal.

In Proticata citizenship's are not bought and to gain one requires meeting certain criterias

You must have permanent resident status for at least 4 years
You can speak fluent Proticatan
You have not committed any serious crimes; if you have then you would of probably have had your permanent residence status revoked and end up being deported
You have enough money to financially support yourself
You have passed the citizenship test

Ister Moniki permits anybody who has been a permanent lawful resident in our nation for five years to apply for citizenship. Applicants for citizenship are required to pass a basic test about our political system and history, which is only offered in our national language.

To protect the character of our nation, we believe in making it difficult for immigrants to come here by strictly limiting annual immigration levels to one tenth of one percent of our citizen population. Any non-citizen who commits a crime, no matter how minor, is deported upon serving their sentence as is any non-citizen who is found to be living on the street and/or relying upon charity and any non-citizen who engages in political activity. We simply don't want the divisiveness that comes with a multicultural society and therefore will not permit a large immigrant community to form in our nation.

Citizenship is a bit complicated in Ferdistan. By jus sanguinis, all those who are of the six "ancestral" races (earth ponies, pegasi, unicorns, griffons, changelings, and zebras) are granted citizenship within the country. All others follow jus soli, with birth within Ferdistan being a requirement for citizenship. Note that all members of the six races, including those not born within Ferdistan, can receive Ferdistani citizenship under these laws.

As to immigrants, we have very few. If you manage to get through customs, naturalization as a full citizen takes 20 years normally, though this can be shortened if you have a spouse or if you enlist in the Air Army.

To achieve citizenship, you must indicate that you intend to reside in Lancov on at least a semi-permanent basis. This is achieved by working in Lancov, owning property in Lancov, or have been residing in Lancov for more than six months. You do not have to apply for citizenship, but if you meet any of the above criteria and are not a citizen, you must obtain a Permanent Residency Visa that is renewed annually. This, like citizenship, allows you to vote in elections and obligates you to pay income tax. Unlike citizenship, it does not allow you to hold any public office, elected or appointed.

Non-citizens who join the Lancovian military are automatically granted citizenship.

To become a citizen of Frenequesta, one must:

--Have lived in Frenequesta (including its territories) for at least two consecutive years
--Be able to speak either English, German, or Mandarin Chinese at a conversational level, which is usually established by the MW Standardized Exam #B330/331/332. (These exams are also used for natives in schools to determine language proficiency as well. #B351, for Equestrian, will become one of them if it ever becomes a national language)
--Score at least 90 on the 100-question MW Standardized Exam #A202, which covers Freneq political structure, civics, and some history. (This score is also required of native Freneq students in order to graduate.)
--Send an application to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Economy with proof of completing the three steps above. (This is mostly done to make sure that the applicant is not being sought after by a foreign government for crimes committed elsewhere, if we're not already trying to find that person. Another reason is to inform the person's nation of origin that the person is now a citizen of Frenequesta, and to work out any logistical or legal side effects of becoming a Freneq citizen, such as giving up the old citizenship.)

Frenequesta follows a jus soli method of granting citizenship by birth, or jus sanguinis if born elsewhere (that is, at least one parent is a Freneq citizen), depending on other countries' laws on dual or multiple citizenships.

Citizenship in Frenequesta essentially means being able to vote and run for political office (although some states do allow foreigners to hold local offices and vote in local elections as long as they are working towards citizenship) after the age of majority.

Officially, there is no concept of citizenship, only subjects. A person wishing to become a Nortan subject must:

Have lived in the country for a total period of at least six years
    Have no outstanding debts
    Have a clean criminal record
Have passed the Test of Subjectship
Not be a Muslim, Scientologist, Buddhist or a member of any other banned religion
Have a reliable income or source of money
Not have any publically transferrable or contagious diseases
    Have integrated into the community

Should this be completed, said person must renounce allegiance to any other foreign power and swear allegiance to the King. He must also pay a registration fee, which may be waived in certain circumstances. Holding a foreign citizenship is only permissible for certain countries, namely:

Australia, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland, British Crown Dependencies, Germany, France, Belgium, Finland, Denmark, Norway and Portugual.

Nortend recognises subjectship through jus sanguinis, where at least one parent as well as at least one of his or her parents are or were Nortan Subjects. There is no concept of jus solis except for foundlings. Adopted children also are granted subjectship if going to parents holding subjectship.

Gandoorese citizenship can be gained by one of two ways.

Citizenship by birth is granted to anyone who is born to at least one parent with Gandoorese citizenship* (regardless of the person having been born in Gandoor or not) or to anyone born in Gandoor who would be otherwise stateless at birth.

Citizenship by naturalization is granted either by: having lived in Gandoor for three years (and having permanent residency status, which can be granted after having lived in Gandoor for one year), having fluency in at least one of our three national languages (English, Japanese, Russian), and passing a citizenship test OR having permanent residency status and marrying a Gandoorese citizen.

*It must be noted that Gandoorese law counts adoption as a form of birth, so if a Gandoorese citizen adopts a child born in a foreign country, that child is automatically considered a citizen once the adoption has formally been approve.

The Synkom does not possess any form of collective 'citizenship', only border-access privileges, which is entitled to any citizen of any member state, but can also be applied - particularly for purposes of business - with qualifications for following criteria:
  • Clean criminal record
  • Being able to contribute to society in one form or another
  • Not have any transmissible diseases
  • Fluent in at least one of the lingua franca (Yugoslav/Serbocroatian and Putonghua-Chinese, respectively, although in reality only Yugoslav possesses a practical status of being the lingua franca).
  • Willing to integrate with community

Unwritten is the rule of no admission from 'blacklisted states', however.

To gain citizenship in Dayganistan through birth, at least one parent must be a citizen of Dayganistan. For immigrants, the following requirements must be met:

Have lived in Dayganistan for six consecutive years
Hold permanent resident status (available after 3 consecutive years of living in Dayganistan)
Be financially self sufficient
Be able to use Pashto and Farsi to a level that allows you to be functional in day to day life. In practice, applicants for citizenship are only tested on their abilities in Pashto.
Must not have any serious disabilities or diseases at the time of your application for citizenship, and you must be willing to undergo a full medical exam.
Have a clean criminal record from your home country.
Must pass the citizenship test, with a score of 80 (out of 100) or higher. Questions include basic knowledge of Dayganistan's history and government, but there is also a heavy focus on questions related to culture and day to day life, which anyone who has lived here for 6 consecutive years should have no problems answering assuming they've made any sort of effort to integrate with society.

Citizenship is rather easy to obtain in La Cosa Fedora, both through birthright and naturalization. Just have work and don't be a criminal.

However, being a citizen doesn't mean as much here as in other places, because our elections are rigged and only members of our ruling Le Updogg Cartel get the best benefits. For the most part, it is market discipline for the citizens and residents, and communitarian solidarity for neckbeards.
Ask us anything!

Join MENINFORM today! Or that's not your style, issue a formal condemnation!

Our state, the League of the Six Free Peoples, is actually controlled by a cartel of neckbeards known as La Cosa Fedora. Members of the cartel are known as Honorable Gentlesirs. Citizens who are not members are known as normies.

Our armed forces are armies of the radicalized romanceless.

Do you fear us yet? If not, have some anti-neckbeard propaganda!
