Did your nation adopt Western ways of government

The United Cantons have widely embraced the wind of westernization, the government is a modern democratic federation that gives all citizens the rights they deserve. Free elections take place every 2 years, while Reffernedums are often used to highlight the connection between government and voters. This wonderful system we see today has evolved from Communism which has overthrown the Most Serene Republic of Liaki in late 19th century.

A very efficient administrative system has been put in place, inspired by those of the most developed western countries, most notably Switzerland and the USA. Canton governments are responsible for Education, infrastructure, healthcare and certain laws that are to be dealt with on the local level(gun ownership,emission regulations etc.). Cantons are the size of counties, they are composed of districts(usually 4 or 5). Before westernization, there were no administrative divisions, patrician families divided the land amongst themselves.

Nou economics are dominated by multinational corporations from Democratic Street(Nou equavilent of Wall St.), the market is mostly unregulated and free, just like in the west. The Government seeks to achieve the perfect balance between encouraging innovative business and maintainging free trade policies.

Not really, western culture is viewed as undeveloped and barbaric. Nou people decided to embrace only the best western civilization has to offer, culture is generally not a part of that group. The United Cantons have a specific culture you are obliged to respect and embrace everywhere outside western commercial districts. You could say that the only way the west influenced Nou culture is by giving it modern technology and, to some degree, inspiring modern Nou fashion, which can be described as a fusion of the east and west. When it comes to religion, catholicism is the third largest religion after Nou Paganism and Atheism.

Somewhat westernized, as our culture mixes some elements of traditional Turkic and Germanic culture(mainly in the essence of the Goths- the people not the subculture). So, while the majority practice traditional belief systems and speak Mittilagartian the culture itself is westernized. However more rural areas, are of course, somewhat less so. Greater Mackonia's politico-legal foundations are totally removed from those of the West which Mackonians view as irrational.

However on the other hand Mackonians see themselves as inheritors of the European cultural tradition, having absorbed that tradition from Prussian rule. Indeed while they may seem alien, Mackonia's politics are such based on a fairly Western criticism of those Western traditions it derides. Mackonians thus argue they have advanced beyond Western culture, indeed some would question the whole notion of a "Western culture" as an artificial substitute for European culture, which Mackonians see themselves as the true inheritors of.
