Had the Imperium been around during the Cold War, it would have had a side of it's own.

We sided with the Soviets since we are bordering them and they offered us plenty of WMD's for joining

Lairendor is not located on Earth, but if it was at the time, we would have most likely stayed neutral as we are mostly a social democratic country.

Probably neither. We enjoy watching people trying to technologically out-do each other while scuffing down a load of popcorn.

But given are attitude recently, we might be leaning towards the NATO/Western side.

Had our nation been in the Cold War, we most likely would've sided with the more capitalist nations.
Pro: Democracy, left-libertarianism, Keynesian economics, centrism, social democracy, free market, capitalism.
Neutral: Monarchism, conservatism, liberalism, socialism.
Anti: Totalitarianism, right-libertarianism, laissez-faire economics, fascism, communism, single-party state, state controlled economy.

Herminia was formerly a NATO ally during the Cold War; however, in its current form, we would have sided with neither Superpower but instead supported those rebel groups and rogue nations who were at odds with either the Capitalists or Communists (with special emphasis on those combating the latter's influence). Those who wouldn't mind receiving aid from Nazis, anyway.

Though it had ties to the Western powers, the West was seen as a radical right-wing faction and was considered generally dangerous to progress. At the same time, the East was known for its issues. Ultimately, though, the Celestial Isles were part of the Non-Aligned Movement (Welcome to NAM!) due to its borders officially closing to most outsiders before the start of the Cold War.

Meridiani Planum would regard the "capitalists" of having been tainted with ideas that led to a quasi-fascist corporatist welfare state, but would still almost certainly side with the faux capitalists over the communists.

During the First Cold War? The United States of America.

During the Second, it would be the Russian Federation.

Postby Brillnuck » Fri Aug 21, 2015 4:03 pm

During the Second World War, Brillnuck was run by a Wartime-coalition between the Liberals and Tories. In the 1945 election, The Tories won and the new Prime Minister, Sir Maxwell Quincy, was a Anti-Communist. During Quincy's term, Brillnuck was one of the founding members of NATO and was a strong member (despite the war, Brillnuck managed to pull through and regain its strength in the 50's and 60's) and continues to this day. However, Brillnuck saw Non-Marxian Socialism as good and Marxian Socialism as 'evil'. During the Liberal government of 1970-1981, there was much debate about whether Brillnuck should leave NATO and join the Non-Aligned Movement. The Liberals favoured a Brillnish exit from NATO while the Tories opposed and instead saw that Brillnuck stand against Communism. Liberal support for NATO withdrawal caused them to lose support and in the 1981 General Election (triggered by a recession and allegations of corruption) they lost and the Tories took over. To this day still Brillnuck still is a member of NATO and will continue to be.

Despite having a socialist ideology, Tulacia would probably be a part of NATO given that it is largely inspired by Britain and its imperial colonies such as India.

New Castleton would side ideologically with the capitalists, but would not directly get involved in what was a series of petty squabbles between superpowers.

Non-aligned movement. The old monarchy was a good friend of Tito's Yugoslavia and the Democratic Republic looks back on it fondly. 8)
