Welcome to the Region of Escar - a veritable melting pot of cultures, races, religions and creeds. From the glittering azure waves of the great expanse that is the Thalassic Ocean, to the soaring mountain ranges and highlands of Northern Zephyrus. Escar's climate and geography is just as varied as it's inhabitants.
That is Escar in character. Out of character, originally, we were an offshoot of the region of Greysteel, created when the RP scene there largely went flaccid, but over time, we have become much more than mere refugees. Now, Escar is a fully fledged community; a small one, with it's own quirks; but a community nevertheless.
Escar is a rather relaxed region. Anybody can contribute to the running of the region by pitching ideas. One could call this a direct democracy, although regional politics isn't something that has ever gained traction in Escar. And nor is OOC drama. Unlike many larger regions, Escar is stable, and peaceful (at least in the out of character sense. We still love the odd war!)
And now, we are looking to grow. And to do that we need great writers, and also ACTIVE writers. So if you think you're up for it, come and join us! Communists, capitalists, monarchists and anarchists alike! There's a place for everyone in Escar.

The above map depicts the region of Escar, as it appears divided by various national borders. It is important to note that while the map appears full. Most of the plots are in fact taken up by place holder NPCs. The vast majority of these NPCs are essentially free plots, and new arrivals in Escar may choose to place their nations anywhere within these placeholder states. If necessary, you may request multiple NPC states to be merged to form your territory, in which case, we will review the request and make a decision on whether it is appropriate.
The continents of Escar are as follows: Zephyrus (the large, westernmost continent) Eurus (the easternmost continent) and Notos (the southern continent, made up of two large islands.)
Furthermore, there is a general consensus on where certain ethnicities and races are based on the map. Slavic and Scandinavian nations are generally located along the north of Zephyrus. The west of Zephyrus on the other hand, is inspired by central, far east and south east asia. The centre of the continent, especially around Vyrdaz, is a boiling mix of various balkan peoples, with the odd dose of slavs, hispanophones and francophones (the latter is mostly limited to the border states of Vonnen.) Anglophones are dotted around the entire region, but especially around Alexiandra. Nations bordering Khornera are for the most part of the Thalassic ethnicity (think Mediterranean, speaking a language that very strongly resembles latin.)
Eurus is almost entirely arabic, persian and turkic, with some african-esque peoples in the south. It has a few more western nations too; a result of colonialism.
Notos contains a bit of everybody.

Current Affairs and Escari Alliances
It's 2015, and the year has come off to a cracking start with the Tebek crisis, which for the first time in many years brought Escar close to regionwide war, but fear held nations back, and the crisis was thankfully defused. Tensions still run high as a result between the Communist and Capitalist blocs. Throughout the early part of the year, the Escari Communist Union and the two friendly rival capitalist alliances, the League of Sovereign Nations and the Grand Alliance, butt heads over minor issues, but all of this eventually ceases with the foundation of the Zephyran Union in May, which preoccupies the leaders of the major blocs with thoughts of peace.
However, tensions are again inflamed with the discovery of terrible human rights abuses in the People's Republic of Vioska, and the Empire of Kolintha, a member of both the League and the Grand Alliance, who's citizens have been held in Vioskite death camps, is hungry for war. But peace remains, and greater regional cooperation seems a certainty.
But as we go into 2016, old rivalries are beginning to show once more. There's a storm coming, and the face of Escar will change as a result. All that remains to be decided is...will it change for the better, or for the worse?

Once and if your application is accepted, you should TG Alexiandra for the password to the region. After that? It's up to! Say hi on the RMB, ask Nerotysia (or myself) for a place on the map and maybe start your own RP (or join an existing one after asking the thread host nicely!)
