Football match leads to Citywide riots.

Today at 12:00PM, rival football/soccer teams, the Tripoli Tigers and Misratah Football Club kicked off for a football game. Things went pear-shaped avout thirty minutes into the match after the Tripoli Tigers scored two goals. Misratah FC fans began hurling fireworks, coins, bricks, stones, bottles and chairs onto the pitch and at Tripoli Tigers fans. Within minutes a full scale melee was unfolding with television cameras broadcasting the entire thing. Rival football fans broke down the gates of the football stadium and spilled out onto the streets. Once there, bricks were thrown by the two rival factions at each other and through shop windows. Cars and Police cars were overturned and two buildings were set ablaze. The inferno eventually caused the two story building to collapse, killing four people. Police then had no choice but to use water canon and batons against protestors. In the clashes, four policemen were killed and around fifty injured and seven fans were killed along with three hundred injured.

Stand-off at Government Building in Tobruq

We interrupt our usual programming to bring you this special report.

Four members of the AIG (Armed Islamic Group) have taken control of the Tobruq City Council building, taking 50 people hostage. Gunfire rang out earlier as the four militants arrived outside the building in a black SUV. They gunned down two security guards, killing them and leaving their bodies on the sidewalk.

Image
Above: a Pro-Government militiamen who belongs to the Asad Brigade stands at a checkpoint. The Asad Brigade has vowed to help the Army in the sealing off of the local area. The Asad Brigade have also offered to help in an assault that may take place.

Security forces have besieged the building and have surrounded it. Occasionally gunfire will erupt, but no heavy fighting has yet taken place. Police and Soldiers have said that the AIG, who are close allies of Al-Qa'ida in Laanvia, want the release of ten un-named terror suspects from prison. The AIG have said that a hostage will be executed every two hours unless their demands are met. General Saif al-Tobruq has stated that no terrorists will be released.

Gunfire has erupted at the Council Building in Tobruq after AIG members shot a man in the back of his head and then hurled his body from a second story window. Soldiers fired at one militant but it is unknown if he is injured or not.

Police and the Army have effectively closed down Tobruq and have forbidden anyone from entering or leaving the city.

At 3:00AM this morning, Soldiers stormed the building. Around forty soldiers went in and have rescued 40 hostages. The other nine were shot by the terrorists when they heard the Army kick the door in. All nine bodies were found piled on top of each other in the men's restroom. The other forty were rescued and are now being questioned.

General Tobruq has declared two days of national morning.

Small Nuclear Weapon finally developed

After several months of construction the Laanvian Ground, Air and Naval Forces have all jointly developed the Asad.NRA1.

The small Nuclear device has a 2.5mi (4km) range. The device will be used by the Army and will be mounted upon APCs and will be used in Ground Offensives/Defensives against an enemy invasion.

The Military hasn't stated the effect of the device, but says it would "devastate" parts of any enemy invasion.

General Tobruq announced the completion of the small weapon earlier today in a Military Statement.

Military to hand power back over to Civilian Government
After a month of interim Military Rule, General Tobruq has stated that power will be handed down to Zakariyya al-Asad, who is chairman of the Secular National Party.

Many citizens, Sunni and Shia have not been pleased with this as back in 1974, when Zakariyyas father, Moammar, was in power, the nation was a Police State. Police and the Army have been on high alert in case demonstrations occur, but so far, business has been as usual.

al-Asad gives statement

Newly appointed President Zakariyya al-Asad has given a statement earlier today.

It read: "I am honoured to have been appointed Presidnet of the country. I will aim to end the sectarian nature in our country to create a largely secular and peaceful societ-".

That is all al-Asad managed to give out this morning as he was rushed off of stage by presidential security and Secular Republican Guard paramilitaries. Shoes were thrown at Asad and a small scuffle ensued after in the crowd between secular supporters and Sunni/Shia Muslims.

Many feared that the nation would break out into rioting again, but none have happened yet. General Tobruq, who appointed Asad has said that he was "reluctant" to hand over power to Asad, sparking fears that the Secret Police, a group known for low key secularity, forced him into doing it.

Saif al-Tobruq, General of the Laanvian Defence Force, has said that he supports the citizens and that the SNP "forced his hand" towards appointing al-Asad as leader. al-Asad loyalists have condemned the army and protestors.

Breaking News: Nationwide Anti-Government protests spiral into violence.

Two days after Saif al-Tobruq was wounded in an attack by the pro-Asad Yusuf Brigade, anti-Government and anti-Asad riots have broken out in Tripoli.

Rioters have been seen overturning cars belonging to the Yusuf Brigade who have responded with rubber bullets, live ammunition, water canons and birdshot.

Yusuf militiamen have been observed beating unarmed and submissive protestors, bundling them into vans. The Military Police have also defected from the Military and have come under government control. Two divisions of the Military, the 84th and 12th Infantry, have also defected to become pro-Asad. War imminent between the Army and the pro-Government Yusuf Brigade.

As pro-Government Militiamen have been seen opening fire on peaceful demonstrations, beating unarmed demonstrators and looting shops, many fear that a War between the 90,000 strong Army and the 50,000 strong pro-Government NDF (National Defence Force- not to be confused with the Army) is imminent.

Saif al-Tobruq, General of the Laanvian Army, has said that he has fully recovered after a botched assassination attempt by the Yusuf Brigade. He has also said that the Dictator of Laanvia, Zakariyya al-Asad, will be "hunted down and killed" by the Army. He has also threaten the authoritarian government, Yusuf Brigade and the NDF with military action if any other demonstrations are violently broken up.
