GLYTTER CLOSES EMBASSY IN DENDRON
Government shuts embassy's doors, condemns "unwarranted deportations"

Foreign Minister Toran O'Ryder announcing the closing of the embassy at a press conference outside the Foreign Office.

SPARKLEVALE - The Glytteronian government has announced the closure of its embassy to the Democratic People's Republic of Kisinger. The announcement comes following a highly criticized move by the Kisin government, of which chose to deport all people holding foreign citizenship. Foreign Minister O'Ryder met with members of the press outside the Foreign Office on Princess Street in Sparklevale. "This act of unwarranted and inhumane aggression towards foreign peoples peacefully residing within Kisinger is outrageous. Glytter is not going to stand still twiddling her thumbs while those in the Kisin government round up our citizens and force them to leave their properties" O'Ryder said. "Due to the quick nature of the deportations of all foreigners, and the growing unpredictably immaturity of the Kising government, we have no other choice but to recall our ambassador and close the doors to our embassy. The ambassador, civilian staff, and security detail have already left the embassy and are on a plane back to Glytter."

Currently, all diplomatic ties with the Kisin government have been cut on the part of the Glytteronian government. Foreign Minister O'Ryder also showed some concern over the expansion of the Kisin nuclear program saying "nuclear power is something Glytter has embraced on her own, and we can understand the desire of any nation to develop a strong nuclear program in order to have an efficient, safe, and clean source of power. However, Glytter has always been opposed to the use of nuclear weapons. Time and time again these have proved to be nothing but a destructive tool used by nations in the barbaric art of war. This government is opposed to the most stable nations - such as our friends in the High Kingdom and Gaullica - possessing nuclear weapons, and we are certainly opposed to unstable and immature nations such as Kisinger developing them".

The International White Cross has also announced it will be ceasing all activity within the DPRK. A spokesperson for the organization told the press "we simply cannot put the lives and safety of our volunteers at risk in a nation where foreigners are not welcome". This could prove to be a devastating blow to humanitarian efforts within Kisinger, a nation with a historic tendency to commit dozens of human rights violations. Without the presence of the IWC, the ability of the international community to come to the aid of victims of the Kisin government has now been greatly hindered.

It is currently unknown if the Glytteronian embassy will ever reopen in Dendron, or if any other nations plan on closing their own embassies.

President Vallette Comments on the Kisin Nuclear Programme
Gaullican Embassy Closed

Verlois, Ile de Fleur - President Jean Vallette of the Gaullican Republic made a speech this morning at the Head Quarters of the Euclean Community in Verlois. Here he spoke to representatives from across Euclea, discussing his views on the recent events transpiring in Asteria Inferior and the breach of human rights and nefarious nuclear ideals emerging from it. Here he spoke about how the Euclean Community should do its best to denounce the actions taken by the DPRK whose recent deportation laws and self proclaimed attempts at obtaining nuclear warheads are a threat to the universally recognised civil rights of humans and a direct violation of the Nuclear Proliferation Treaties. Additionally, he spoke out in open arms to the nations that felt threatened on Asteria Inferior, proclaiming that the Gaullican Republic would stand for their sovereign rights.

"This is a direct threat towards the upstanding nations that support civil liberties across the globe." Vallette began. "The nefarious acts taken by the DPRK in Asteria Inferior are unspeakably horrendous, with the forced deportation of foreigners a most heinous crime and offence. The Gaullican public and I can both agree that we most certainly support the efforts taken by the Kingdom of Gyltter in their shutting down of their embassy within Kisinger and I hereby declare that Gaullica has done the same. Gaullica herself, wishes to aid with all the deportees in their return to their country of origin or that of their ancestry. And whilst we would have applauded Kisinger in her attempts to create efficient nuclear power, which I am sure most would agree is the way forward, the combined breach of civil rights and their declaration of attempt in finding a way to create nuclear warheads is a most frightening prospect. It is so, that in this breach of both the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty that Gaullica finds herself opening her arms to the nations of Asteria Inferior. It is so; that I hereby announce that Gaullica will stand for the sovereign rights of the nations that feel threatened by Kisinger's increasingly hostile activity."

Whilst we can assume the speech itself was relatively well received in the chambers of Euclean Community HQ in Verlois, we have yet to receive the information of the reactions taken by the representatives and ambassadors - and how their own nations will react to both our President's response and Kisinger's own recent declarations.

Kisinger Continues

MoFA Linhard Hitrin Addresses the Concerns

Minister Karl Tinomini (@CNADPRK)
July 1st, 2015

Image

Hitrin making Televised Statement

Courtesy of the Minister of Communication

Dendron, Kisinger- The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Linhard, has released a televised statement regarding concerns of Foreign nations, more specifically Gaullica, Glytter, and the Jonathanian States in their recent statements to the Noble Democratic People's Republic of Kisinger but, as well as to address concerns regarding the declaration of our most prestigious Nuclear Program which is not only to help our nation as a whole be able to maintain self reliance but as well acquire weapons for the protection of our people.

Televised across the DPRK this is what Linhard had to say, "We the people, and we the Government of the Democratic People's Republic of Kisinger find it appalling that nations would dare comment on our own internal affairs and have since then cut all diplomatic relations, such as the nations of Gaullica and Glytter, who should be ashamed. Gaullica, the once esteemed nation has shown it's true colors today for we the Democratic Republic of Kisinger have never signed such treaties of 'Nuclear Proliferation' and have since resigned ourselves from obeying it as our just due, and has such, I view the attempts at condemning our actions to obtain such weapons a nuisance as it is a mere way to strong arm our brave nation from pioneering into a field of warfare 'reserved' for the gilded and backwards nations of the West. We do understand Glytter's concern over our Nuclear Development but they should not fear as they themselves should realize that the only way for a nation to maintain their neutrality is through the process of acquiring Nuclear Warheads. Concerning the 'violations' of human rights, in the Grand Nation of Kisinger, property is reserved to those of only of Kisin Citizenship and we then reserve the right to throw out foreigners who as such take rightful land away from the Kisin Citizen, these actions will continue, and all necessary actions for the safety of the deportees shall be considered when handling their deportation. Though following these attempts at strong arming us, I have yet to see any reason to continue embassies in the nations of Glytter and Gaullica and have henceforth withdrawn them and arrangements shall be made for their safe trip home. Regarding the actions taking by the Jonathanian States, we have sent an official request to reopen dialogue to renegotiate our current trade deals and outher treaties concerning our continued friendship."

The Speech was well accepted by the nation and several flag burnings where held across the DPRK as they burned the flag of Gaullica, and the flag of Glytter. A military Parade was scheduled too take place soon after the statement was televised for the 5th of July and an unknown amount of troops, equipment, and bystanders will be attending. Though even the Supreme Councilor released a statement on it calling both Glytter and Gaullica "Backwards and ignorant nations."

Progressive Conservatives Backtrack on Election Promise
"There is no need for a second general election, as the people of Caltarania have already given us their support" - Oliver Trent

Highminster, Shadwell - After promising an election to be held in July, the Progressive Conservatives - now lead by Oliver Trent - have backtracked on the promise. After the recent party conference, the party denied official claims that a second general election was to be held in July, invoking anger from the protesters who were still lingering in Shadwell and other major Caltari cities. In related news, the Socio-Democratic party have announced a leadership election, after the resignation of Tom Norbund as party leader. Green party leader Meghan Waters described the denial of a second election as "an expected but still remarkably despicable action", while Sophia McAlister, leader of the Winterlander National Party, described the revelation as "proof of the backwardness of the union".

We have begun to receive reports that, in response to the revelations, the protesters have gathered with major Caltari trade unions (such as Side by Side and the National Union of Working People), LGBT groups, revolutionary organisations and other anti-government individuals in order to once again march on Parliament. Meghan Waters said that she "wholeheartedly supported the movement", while a spokesman for the Progressive Conservative party stated that "they will not bend to anarchist terrorists, and will use whatever means necessary in order to preserve stability within the High Kingdom" advising that "the protesters should return to their homes". The Shadwell Metropolitan Police have begun to set up defensive perimeters around Highminster, and reports indicate that army units may be moved into the capital in order to quell the rioters.

Several famous faces have come out in support of the grassroots movement, which has collectively become known as "the People's Commonwealth", which seeks to force a general election or even overthrow the current government. Empereur guitarist Ben Roberts and lead vocalist Matti Pedder-Smith both came out in favour of the movement, in addition the entire Communist party and Green party, and the Leftist wing of the Socio-Democratic party. Rhoslyn Powell, First Minister for Cymarsh, and Dagur Jarlsson, First Minister of Tykeshire, have also vocally supported the movement.

Fjällandsdtad, Jonathania - (Björn Rickardsen)

In a joint speech with the Director of the Fjälland Police Directorate, the High Commander of the Northern Security Sector, Karl Ben-Zayan, confirmed that Police Special Forces have taken into custody a group of armed radicals.
According to the High Commander the group, a registered association under the name of National Association of Fjälland, had aroused the suspicion of Military Intelligence in the NSS, which started placing them under observation in coordination with the other authorities and bureaus. As a result after a month enough suspicion was retained to justify the insertion of a covert operative into aforementioned association. After a both open and covert investigation, the length of which has not been released by the officers, sufficient evidence had been gathered to justify a raid by unspecified special forces, so the High Commander. The raid, which happened in parallel to smaller raids conducted by Police forces on the homes of associates of the so-called NAF, uncovered massive amounts of unregistered heavy arms, as well as countless stacks of ammunition.
The Police forces report currently being tracking the sources for both the weaponry and ammunition, as well as the funds used to purchase them. A suspected link to a certain drug-smuggling ring has not been found or publicized, as of now.
High Commander Ben-Zayan added that MI is currently investigating on possible affiliates of the NAF, in Fjälland, Jonathania as a whole, and possibly also outside of the country should a suspicion arise that such existed.

When asked on the members of the group the Fjälland Police Director responded that they currently are in high-security custody, awaiting their trial. According to him it is still to be determined whether they shall be presided over by a civilian justice or by a military tribunal, but that in either case the State intends to press multiple charges on illegal possession of arms, treason, lese majeste, and conspiracy. The NAF, continued the Director, has also been placed on the Terrorist Organization Index, meaning that affiliation with that organization will become criminal in the future.

The Fjälland Reporter will attempt to remain up to date on the expected continuation of these events - 19:12

OIL SPILL OFF GLYTTERONIAN COAST
Oil gushes out into the North Sea, threatens local environment

The McKenna Alpha platform in the North Sea

PORTASKYE - It has been announced that Glytteronian oil giant Glyco has discovered a leak near their McKenna Alpha platform only 180 km off the coast of the island of Skye. Glyco would not say how much oil had been released so far, only describing it as "not a significant spill" and saying it had largely stemmed the leak. One of the wells at the McKenn oilfield has been closed, but the company would not say go on to say if production itself had been reduced. Glyco said it had sent a clean-up vessel to the location and has a plane monitoring the surface. It further confirmed the leak was continuing, having been found in a flow line connecting an oil well to the platform.

The Department of Energy has already contacted Glyco over the spill and confirmed the company is cooperating with the Glytteronian government. The department's spokesperson added that it understood from Glyco that there was a "finite amount of oil that can be dispersed" but stressed that regulators were taking the leak seriously regardless. The Department of Health and Safety is monitoring the situation, it has been announced. It further said "this is merely a precaution to ensure the safety of our coastline and our citizens, we do not view this as an immediate threat". Marine Glytter, the group that manages Glytteronian waters, has announced they have already "been in contact with key organisations, including Glyco" and that they will "keep the government departments and various officials updated on the situation".

A Glyco spokesman said it was "managing" the leak. "We have deployed a remote-operated vehicle to check for a sub-sea leak after a light sheen was noticed in the area. We have stemmed the leak significantly and we are taking further measures to isolate it. The sub-sea well has been shut in, and the flow line is being de-pressurised," he added.

The McKenna oil field reportedly produced about 13,500 barrels of oil per day between January and April of this year.

Image

The head of the Greens, Blanche O'Patrick, has already condemned the spill via her Twitter account. "It is a shame our environment must suffer at the hands of nonrenewable energy and Big Oil". The Greens issued an official statement denouncing the spill, and calling on the government to "increase regulations on North Sea drilling". Environmental groups across the nation have spoken out against the spill, echoing Ms. O'Patrick's statement. On the other side of the issue, leader of the Free Marketers Pádraigín Ó Baoighill issued a statement supporting Glyco saying "Using the resources God provided us with are essential to growing our economy, it would be silly to destroy our own economy at the expense of the people of this country".

The Gytteronian portion of the North Sea is considered one of the safest places in the world to drill oil. The spill has raised concerns not only over the safety of drilling within Glytter's waters, but in waters around the globe.

If the Greens and other ecowhackos understood how capitalism works, they would realize this spill will only lead to an improvement in the safety and precautions taken while drilling oil from the ocean. Spills mean a loss of profit, a loss of profit means angry shareholders. Glyco will be stepping up its safety measures after this, as well other oil drillers.

WAR OF WORDS CONTINUES
Negara and Gaullica "Stand United" In Demanding Iyakasar Stand Down

KOTA MERDEKA - Further tensions out of the capital today as Negara has issued an official demand to Iyakasar that they cease mobilisation and address the government's concerns about potential links between Iyakasari intelligence officials and the Islamic Seperatist Front in northern Negara. For the past three weeks, Kota Merdeka and Kasaros have been at odds over the arrest of the Howonda Fourteen, a Iyakasari spy ring which Negara alleges is behind a recent slew of attempted terrorist attacks throughout the country. The Fourteen, whose activities were uncovered with the help of Gaullican intelligence services, continue to deny any affiliation with the Iyakasari government, although they were found with documents identifying them as Iyakasari citizens, and the culutral attaché of the Iyakasari embassy has been withdrawn in protest.

This is just the latest in a series of rapidly-escalating measures: last Monday Negara issued a travel warning for Negaran citizens in Iyakasari, followed by a comprehensive travel ban last Wednesday. Iyakasar, on the other hand, has protested the presence of foreign troops in northern Negara as "threatening" and demanded that Negara stand down her armed forces, in addition to reciprocal restrictions placed on travel and fiscal transactions.

Negara insists that forces in the north- which include elements of the Gaullican Foreign Legion- are undergoing training exercises unrelated to recent events, but continues to provide no comment on when these exercises will end. Negaran diplomats have begun lobbying for a no-fly-zone to be imposed over Iyakasar in the Community of Nations, although such proposals are likely to be scuppered by members such as Johnathania, which continue to retain relatively positive relations with the Bahian monarchy.

In the absence of compromise from either side, it is entirely possible that at the current rate, hostile relations may escalate into a full-scale trade war. Both Iyakasar and Negara have threatened to use "necessary means" to achieve their respective security, and only time will tell if the two belligerents can bring themselves to the negotiating table.

President Vallette: "We stand in union with our Negaran Allies."

Antoinette Giourd(@Antionette Giourd)

Jean Vallette, President of Gaullica, during his dinner interview following the speech at the Community of Nations
Photograph courtesy of Joanna Demarq

Following the heated controversy emerging from the Community of Nations HQ in Kesselbourgh, in which the Negaran Representative Iba Petwi made her case to the Community to instigate a no-fly zone over Iyakasar, we came to have an interview with President Jean Vallette. The President happily took the interview as he awaited for his meal at a restaurant in Verlois, La Negara, quite coincidentally. The interview came hand in hand with the recent news emerging from the Community of Nations HQ that our own nation's representative; Hugor Gerrad, gave the Gaullica's backing to Negara.

"It's quite simple really" Vallette began as he folded a napkin onto his lap, as well as offering our crew some champagne. "Negara is an ally of ours, one willing to ignore our horrendous previous century's crimes. We have long paid and felt sorry for these and whilst we now it does not compensate, we can make sure we support the upstanding views of Democracy and Righteousness across Kylaris. Negara has been dealing with this troublesome and now, unfortunately, corrupt nation for quite some time. Even in the light of sanctions and requests they continued and now Negara has decided to appeal to the international community. It goes without saying that being our ally, our close DITO partner and additionally a nation in the right in this situation - it would make most sense that Gaullica is on their side in this event. The recent location of our Division being in Northern Negara is, quite frankly, a coincidence. Long have the training exercises between DITO members occurred and most are planned well in advance to the actual date. I can now only hope that the people of Gaullica support our decision as a government in the support of Negara."

The Shogunate enacts reform on cyber warfare division

New Sapporo, Nippon - (Seiziro Yamabuchi)
With the conflict between several nations at the region of Kylaris with other nations, the Shogunate saw the need to improve their military. However, due to their emphasize on quality over quantity, and with the resentment over the use of conscription, which is proposed with the Nationalist Party of Nippon, the Shogunate decided to improve cyber warfare division.

With the over-improving industry of Information Technology, perhaps the highest in the region, the Shogunate enacted programs to build more infrastructures on Information Technology sector, training and recruiting potential IT agents.

VALVE CLOSED, LEAK STOPPED
Glyco stops worst North Sea spill "in decades"

8 July 2015 | Sparklevale, Gyltter

The McKenna Alpha platform following the spill

SPARKLEVALE - Glyco has said it has closed a valve from which oil was spilling into the North Sea. The company said this was a "key step" in stopping the leak at its Gannet Alpha platform, the worst oil spill in Glytteronian waters in more than a decade. Glyco said it will now monitor the flowline to make sure the valve remains sealed.

Glenn Gayley, technical director of Glyco's exploration and production activities in Euclea, said divers sealed off the valve in a "careful and complex operation."

"But we will be watching the line closely over the next 24 hours and beyond," he said.

"Our next task is to remove the residual oil from inside the depressurized flowline, and that will take time."

About 1,300 barrels of oil has spewed into the sea since a pipeline was found to be leaking on the fifth, the company said, although it claimed that after is shut the well, only one barrel a day had been leaking from the installation to control the build-up of pressure in the pipeline.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said the spill has caused a sheen covering an area of 6.7 square kilometers. Compared to most oil spills around the world, this one is considered "quite small" a statement issued by a spokesperson for the Department of Energy read. However, according to figures from the Department of Energy North Sea incident exceeds the annual totals for the area for the last decade "This is the worst spill in Glytteronian waters in decades. The drilling off our coastline is very safe and thoroughly monitored, and as a result spills happen very infrequently. This is a significant spill in the context of annual amounts of oil spilled in the North Sea." DoE spokesperson Dorothy Nyle said.

The spill has caused quite an uproar among environmentalists within Glytter, who say the light crude oil posed a "serious risk" for thousands of young birds, including puffins and guillemots, if they came into contact with it. Concerns have been raised by the Greens both in the Royal Congress and outside of it. The Glytteronian Twitterverse exploded following Greens Leader Blanche O'Patrick's tweet regarding the spill was criticized in a Tweet from Free Markerter Mánus Ó Donnchadha, Chairperson of the party and a native to the isle of Skye. "It is absurd this daft old witch wishes to destroy our economy to save a few birds" Ó Donnchadha tweeted. Conflict between the two parties also erupted during the Tuesday session of the Báisteachbow Cóimeáila. Taoiseach Walker and Ceann Comhairle (Speaker) Nicolás Cummins quickly restored order. Environmentalists are up in arms over the conflict, and have already called on the resignation of Mr. Ó Donnchadha. "It is just inappropriate for a man to address a woman of authority as an 'old witch' - or any woman for that matter" a Greens supported Tweeted. A popular reply read "Women have had positions of power in Glytter since its establishment and in fact have held a safe hold on power within the country since. How about we are just nice to people instead of fighting a strawman, hmm?" which was tweeted by Franki Heck, a prominent member of the Liberty Party serving in the Spál Seanad.

A spokesperson for A Cleaner and Greener Glytter, a prominent environmentalist lobby group, said "Oil of any amount, if in the wrong place, at the wrong time, can have a devastating impact on marine life."

With the spill now under control, a more efficient clean up can begin.

Like I said before, this is hope capitalism works. Now that the spill is clogged Glyco will clean up the mess and pay to help the environment. The birds and marine life will be fine, unlike this country if the Greens ever take power.

HM Kenneth IV arrives at L'Hotel Imperium in Verlois

VERLOIS - The King has arrived in the Gaullican capital of Verlois on what is the first day of his five day trip to the Euclean nation. In a statement issued by St Ellen's Palace "The trip is aimed at showcasing the burgeoning friendship between Glytter and Gaullica". Kenneth IV left Sparklevale earlier this morning on the government's diplomatic jet and arrived in Verlois shortly after. He has already arrived at 123 Faux Rue - the residence of the Gaullican president - and has met with President Jean Vallette. Later this evening a state dinner is scheduled to be hosted at the president's residence, where the King will be accompanied by Louis MacTomlin. Before the dinner the two are expected to tour the Gaullican capital city and will lay wreaths at the Arc de Liberté in memory of the fallen soldiers of the Great War.

Tomorrow the royal couple is scheduled to travel to the coastal village of Monaque. MacTomlin is on tour with boy band No Direction and the group is scheduled to preform Monday and Tuesday evening in the capital, followed shortly after by shows in other major Gaullican cities. The couple announced their engagement on the 30th of June.

Following the stay in Monaque, HM is scheduled to travel to the Versourv in Verlois for a charity event. He will also visit other iconic landmarks throughout the city and will once stay in the city overnight before departing for Glytter again early on Monday.

General Aust comments on the Terrorists

Dendron, Kisinger- Reports are coming in from the Ministry of the Interior of several evil terrorists openly committing acts of terror against Kisinger Citizens, in response, the prestigious and loyal military of Kisinger and of the Kisin people dispatched the 1st Motorized Infantry Regiment, and the 22nd Armored Regiment to help bring stability and tranquility to the area. These units have been placed under the command of General J. C. W. Aust who is to lead the troops to Victory. They have been spotted on our Eastern border with Hyspina, much speculation has come from whether or not they are supported by the current Hyspinaian Government, but in case they are, an additional 5 Infantry and Armored Regiments have been mobilized and have moved to assist the first two Regiments as well prepare defenses along the border.

As well as these acts, various terrorists have launched a bombing campaign targeting schools, hospitals and other areas vital to our nation as a whole. The Supreme Councilor has reportedly even requested help from the CoN though it is expected they will deny it as they as Western Imperialists always do. Further more, to help prevent further terrorist attacks, a curfew and martial law has been implemented in affected areas. As well to prevent the spread of these ideas, any form of migration to leave or enter the nation has been restricted, traveling in between the Provinces and cities has been halted and reserved for Governmental purposes only, and lastly, every man and women above the age of 18 who has yet to do so must, sign up at their nearest Governmental building to possibly be drafted in our time of need. Failure to do comply with these terms will result in immediate punishment of the highest courts in Kisinger.

Vallette and His Majesty Kenneth of Glytter Tour Verlois

Verlois, Ile de Fleur - Following the arrival of King Kenneth IV in Gaullica and his initial meetings with Vallette, both Heads of State have began the ceremonial tour of the city alongside their respective partners; Louis MacTomlin for the Glytteronian King and Évelyne Vallette for the Gaullican President. In what has been described as a great show of unity between the two countries, especially following their united stance against Sveltlana earlier last month, the group began their tour at 11:00 AM of the morning of July 9th. They began their tour by visiting Liberté Square and laying symbolic wreathes upon the Arc de Liberté memorial in the centre of the famed square. Here they had a symbolic few moments of silence, a lavish gun salute from the Republican Guard. Despite the Victory Celebrations occurring in February this year, the symbolic gesture for the fallen soldiers was well appreciated by the Gaullican people.

Following this, the group made their way to the River Reine. Here they boarded a river barge, the Voyage - which served as both a river transport and a restaurant. Having their lunch as they saw the riverside sites of Gaullica, such as the Notre Dame de Verlois Cathedral and the Versourve, the famed art and cultural museum of Verlois, was described as "a joyous event" by our correspondent whom interviewed them as they disembarked. The rest of the day was virtually similar, with fans of the band No Direction generally hot on the tail of the travelling star. When it came to 8:00 PM and the tour was over, the group returned to 123 Faux Rue - to begin the state dinner. Tomorrow King Kenneth is to go to the coastal city of Monaque, where he is to spend the remainder of his stay after his actions today. Gaullican police and the Glytteronian Royal Guard are to ensure his privacy and security in the region. He is to return to Verlois on his final day, to host a charity event of the arts at the Versourve.

KASAROS - More than twenty people, including three Jonathanian nationals, have been killed after an Iyakasari Royal Air Force jet flying over the capital of Kasaros was shot down by the Negaran Air Force in what the Iyakasari government condemned as an "atrocity." Responding to the attack, King Bako condemned "Negaran brinkmanship" and outright stated that the Iyakasari government would be seeking to enact "the full consequences of their actions" on Negara. In a presidential address to the international community, President Mawarputra has announced that the Negaran Army would be releasing in-flight recordings and transcripts of the "aerial incident" that led to the dogfight over Kasaros, and accused the Iyakasari authorities of "beginning a game of spinning and swindling the truth." In his address, Mawarputra called for "calm and collectedness" among the international community in this "time of trial."

The incident is characteristic of the combative situation that has developed in the Farsiastani Gulf, although this is the first concrete fighting that has taken place between the two nations. The absence of an armed response by Iyakasar may be taken hopefully as a sign of cooler minds prevailing, although the ominous statements by President Mawarputra suggest that there is more to the story than Bako's government would have us believe. Mawarputra's counterstatement to that of the Iyakasari's government was apologetic; he offered his condolences to the families of the victims and was willing to acknowledge that "mistakes had been made" in the NRA's policy with regards to Iyakasar. He refused to comment, however, on accusations that Negara had begun to attack Iyakasar, and maintained that the Negaran Army was not at fault.

The Pictures We're Allowed to Show You from the King's Risque Trip to Monaque!

HM and Fiancé Louis MacTomlin stripped down for their royal trip on the Gaullican Coast

King Kenneth IV and pop icon Louis MacTomlin were spotted on their private yacht off the coast of the small Gaullican resort town of Monaque. Not only was this royal couple spotted, but the pictures are quite scandalous! Above are the only three pictures obtained by Sugarglam from an anonymous source we are allowed to show you! Why is that? Well, the Monarch and his lover seem to have quite the need to remove their trunks when they go swimming! Pictures of the King and MacTomlin in the nude do exist, but will not be posted on Sugarglam due to their sensitive nature.

The royal couple is currently on holiday in Monaque while both in Gaullica for separate events. King Kenneth is on an official state visit to the nation while MacTomlin is there with boy band No Direction for their Gaullican leg of the tour. The two have been in Monaque since Friday, when it is presumed these risque pictures of the royal rumps were captured!

This is not the first time royalty has found trouble with the paparazzo in Gaullica. On their last trip as a couple to the country they were photographed skinny dipping at their private coastal villa. It was announced His Majesty's Royal Guard - the division of the Secret Service charged with protecting HM and other members of the royal family - was to step up security measures in order to "ensure the long lasting privacy and safety of His Majesty" a statement from HMRG read following the last incident. Clearly they have failed to ensure the monarch's privacy, as we now have pictures of his private regions! It was announced by the Gaullican government that the nation's extensive police force would be working in cooperation with HMRG in order to keep the monarchy safe, so the entire incident cannot be blamed on the Royal Guard. After all, it is not their country.

This scandal comes at a busy time for the Glytteronian sovereign. Following an international dispute with the Sveltanan government following their controversial referendum, of which resulted in the reversing of the nation's laws permitting same-sex marriage and the engagement announcement, it is unknown what impact these photos will have on the monarch's image. However, from what we've seen it can only help. Louis MacTomlin is a lucky man.

It is clear that HMRG has a long way to go in order to ensure the privacy of the monarch in order to prevent future scandals. However, our advice to the King is simple: stop swimming with your trunks off. Or maybe don't; the view is quite lovely

KŪRSAR'S TRUSTED NEWSPAPER

Emperor Barek IV announces the expansion of enfranchisement to women

Image

July 10th, 2015

IN an unprecedented move on Friday the Emperor of Kūsar has allowed women to vote in the regional elections of the country. The emperor stated that "the country cannot remain in archaic ages and still hope to improve the living standards of everyone." Emperor Barek IV signed Decree 1054 which officially allows women in the country to vote in the upcoming July 25th elections.

Most intellectuals in the country have praised the decision of the emperor. Famous political scientist, Dr. Abdelali Mhamdi reportedly said that the "Emperor finally moved away from the oppressive influence of the reactionaries and into the 21st century." Others have gone as far as to saying that the country was approaching a point-of-no-return in the area of social policy and political freedoms. The next goal, Dr. Abdelali Mhamdi stated, was the expansion of enfranchisement to an universal stage with every citizen older than 20 being allowed to vote.

On the other hand, political reactionaries have responded by insulting the Emperor and calling him "impure to the Kūsarian culture." Many in that political field are demanding him to resign his title as Emperor and stand trial for crimes against Kūsar. Leading conservative politicians have called for a national strike on all levels of society against Emperor Barek IV.

Electoral authorities have informed us that all female citizens of Kūsar older than 20 can register to vote from tomorrow on in the town halls across the country.

THE NATIONAL VOICE - SINCE 1899

Green Party leaves H.M. Government
11th of July 2015

In a drastic move the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Social Affairs informed the King of their resignation. They furthermore announced not to support the National Liberal Party in government anymore, forcing the King to call for elections.

After two weeks of waiting, His Majesty confirmed the sentence against Maria Hilwatter. The woman was sentenced to death by the courts, but death penalties need to be authorized by the King in order to be legal. Maria Hilwatter was found guilty of the murder of at least six citizens, one of them the niece of Governor Paul von Klee, and the torture of at least two more. Her lawyers claimed she was mentally ill, but both her neighbours, former teachers and many credible experts were able to successfully fight that claim. Her sentence was openly welcomed by the Conservative Block and the Marschlandian "Black Tree Party". The Green Party asked the King not to authorize the death penalty.

While the Green Party strictly condemned his actions, the Conservative Block, the Black Tree Party and even some of their coalition colleagues attacked the Greens for their ruthless and immoral policies. As a reaction to this attack they resigned. The consequences are yet to be fully analyzed, but it is not likely that the National Liberals will enter a coalition with them soon again. The Conservative Block and the National Liberals will each support an own candidate and could try to win the favor of the Black Tree Party, that is traditionally independent.

H.M. officially announced that he can not understand or welcome their decision, as it was not done in the best interest of the people. Nonetheless he assures that the elections can only change things for the better. He hopes that the election will be fair and just and wished all party leaders luck, as his press office confirmed. The elections start on Tuesday.

Photo thanks to Bailey John- The Emperor's podium shortly before today's address

Seestein, Jonathania - (Yizhak Sigurdsen)

Two hours ago(10:00 JMT), as of this article being written, an incident of a jet crashing killed three Imperial Citizens who were traveling in Iyakasar's capital of Kasaros. The crash, caused by an Iyakasarian jet supposedly being shot down over the city, killed more than 17 other civilians in addition to the Imperial tourists. As of now both the governments of both Iyakasar and Negara have remained unusually silent considering the tension and sabre-rattling observed in the recent time.

In reaction, short of two hours after the incident, the Emperor held an address to the nation in front of one of the current Prime building of Schloss Seestein. Here the transcript;
Ladies, Gentlemen, Citizens of the Empire, my dear countrymen and -women.
I come before you as even my own access to information on the incident that caused the death of three of our countrymen, two brothers and a sister of to nation, is limited. The information published by the local governments is few and far in between.
But it is now is not the time to blame, for they too have had their deaths, and they too have become victims of a surprise incident.
Now is the time for all nations to unite as one and to call once more and as they always shall for the separation of warfare from civilians and from committing to utmost efforts to prevent warfare, wherever, whenever, with whomever, and under whatever justifications it might it may be, of causing the deaths of innocent lives such as civilians on their day-to-day lives or tourists visiting a foreign country.
Now is also the time for investigation and analysis. I ask the relevant governments to do their utmost in their respective investigations on the matter and wish to declare that the Empire of Jonathania is willing to assist in such regardless of the side requesting such aid.
Now is the time to extend a protective mantle over the families of the victims and extend to them our sincerest condolences and truest prayers in these darkest of times.
The Jonathanian Empire wishes once more to declare its support for negotiations with the aim of deescalating the ongoing tensions in Coius. We also wish to stress the importance of investigating those responsible for these innocent deaths and for such purposes I declare my intent to meet tomorrow with the respective ambassadors of both countries in order to be briefed on any developments gathered.

In a move considered expectable amongst certain circles the Emperor refrained from hasty steps and instead spoke about the importance of finding those responsible. According to an anonymous source this might be done in order to allow for greater action once that side has been indentified, though other sources in the Foreign Ministry claim it to simply be fitting to the current monarch and that this style is not expected to change.

Two demonstrations clash in Palace Square
Latest polls predict AIP victory — AIP demonstration attacked

Herfast, Gottmark — Violence spontaneously erupted in Palace Square three hours ago as a pro-AIP demonstration clashed with an anti-AIP demonstration. Both demonstrations unfortunately occurred at the same time and resulted in the death of two protesters and dozens of severe injuries. The incident has been dubbed 'the worst case of violence in Sveltlana' since the elections of 1970, when the Communist Party of Workers lost the election to the Moderate Party of the Center.

At around 11:00, the pro-AIP demonstration left the Riksdagshuset and began its march towards Palace Square. For most of the duration, the demonstration, which consisted of approximately 3.000 individuals, was left undisturbed and peacefully marched down the Störsbulevar to the Square. However, it was attacked by members of the Communist Party some thirty meters away from the Square. The attackers threw projectiles at the demonstrators, which included stones, bricks, and beer bottles. While some members dispersed in the face of the attack, many continued in their advance towards Palace Square, where a demonstration of members against AIP and the result of the LGBT+ referendum was taking place.

Police elements were immediately mobilised and succeeded in keeping the two demonstrations in check for nearly an hour. However, small bands began exchanging projectiles over the police lines. At about 13:00, a swarm of AIP demonstrators rushed the lines and crossed into the area where their counterparts were protesting. Soon, a giant brawl erupted in the Palace Square, and dozens of supporters of both camps rushed to fight for their respective sides.

Enormous forces of policemen were immediately called in. Employing riot shields, rubber bullets, and other riot-control devices, the policemen broke the massive brawl up in twenty minutes. However, the price had already been paid — two anti-AIP demonstrators had been trampled in the chaos that erupted once the fighting began, while an AIP member had been both struck in the head by a glass bottle and then trampled as the Communist band attacked the AIP demonstration. Almost three-hundred individuals were injured in the violence, about fifty of them serious.

After the massive fight, reporters from Det Nörr rushed to report from the scene.

“Yes, it is quite obvious," said Mark de Clark, a Gaullican immigrant granted Sveltlanan citizenship after his marriage to Karl Hanssen, a Svelt. "AIP fixed the referendum; there is no other way in which [the referendum] could have gotten those statistics. Seventy percent? That's not only preposterous, it's ridiculous!," he said.

"Yes, in light of what my partner has said, we did have a reason to be demonstrating here at the center," said Karl Hanssen. "We are grateful at the international response of criticism to the government of this nation. I love my country. Its government? Not so much."

"The referendum should have been avoided in the first place," said Emma Christensen. "It was impossible to get anything positive out of a measure that could have curtailed the freedom of Sveltlana's citizens."

Meanwhile, AIP supporters had a different perspective of the events.

"We had been planning this demonstration for weeks now, they only planned it since the Referendum," said Marthe Stendahl. "There was no reason why my children had to witness this violence, if the LGBT+ supporters had realized that bad things would happen if you coupled these demonstrations, all of this ordeal could have been easily prevented," she said with a sigh.

"Democracy is not about satisfying the minority," said Jan Adlerhoff,"it's about satisfying the majority. It's what these people fail to understand. Vox populi is something real, and if those men and women think they can upset this government system, maybe they should go to a country where it isn't. We'd all be better off by it."

After interviewing many members of the anti-AIP protest, fear of AIP winning the upcoming elections is a very palpable sentiment. Despite Citizens enjoying a comfortable lead in Congress, it could be reduced to holding only half of the seats in Congress if AIP wins a larger number of seats in the Chamber of Deputies.

"There's a reason why Fascism died after the Great War," said a citizen who preferred to remain anonymous. "It's because it doesn't work. It's an ideology based on bigotry and racism. It promotes conflict, not peace. It promotes war over prosperity. Fascism must die, and we are demonstrating to help those who would vote for this flawed ideology to return to their common sense," she said.

"AIP members have said time and time again that they are prepared to enact measures against immigrants," said Kristin Störgråsten. "This isn't about offering Svelts economic opportunities, it's a badly-disguised and ridiculously bigoted movement against non-white ethnic groups. It's racism, is what it is."

However, some members of AIP do not believe they are voting for a fascist government.

"AIP does not promote fascism," stated Artur Kleist. "It promotes economic recovery and national sentiment. AIP is not against discriminating people, it's about opening new doors to prosperity and progress. Plus, AIP states that Sveltlana must continue in the Nordic Union and fight the inflation of the Nörrdaler in order to be successful, countering unemployment with interesting projects in infrastrucure — I'm all for the party that offers economic prosperity."

"The best thing about AIP," said Anna Slott, "is that besides promoting economic growth, it promotes morality among the population. And this is a very reasonable and libertarian morality — for the first time in, well, ever, the Sveltlanan government is ready to allow recreational drug use for certain substances such as marijuana. But that's only if AIP is elected into office."

There is hope that AIP might not reach a majority, however. AIP has recently broken off with its long-time ally, the National Syndicalist Union, which currently holds 35 seats in the Deputeradekammaren and 8 seats in the Kongressenaten. However, UNS is estimated to fall spectacularly in terms of number of members. Additionally, the Industrial Party has redeemed its bond with Citizens, meaning that the two parties could at least deter the AIP-Framåt alliance from obtaining an undisputed majority. The Green party, despite a traditionally fractious relationship with Citizens and TIP, could also end in the coalition, although the leader of the Greens, Freyja ten Hoopen, has yet to comment on this.

Image

Nevertheless, unless a true miracle occurs, the best those against right-wing governments can hope for at the present is a compromise between all other parties, and even this would still make AIP's control over parliament an uncomfortably simple and everyday task. However, unless Chancellor Eva Reinfeldt is sacked from her position by the new president and parliament, there is hope that Sveltlana's top executive could still regulate extremism in the nation.

However, as can be seen by the graph, the coalition between AIP and Framåt would simply be too difficult to overcome by the other parties, despite the best efforts of the 'Grand Alliance' of Citizens and TIP, which has managed the country now for nearly twenty years.

"Our best hope right now is for a fracture between AIP and Framåt," said TIP mayor Johannes Stengard of Fulhrheim, Savolax. "Unless the coalition of those two parties break up, then it is a checkmate for everyone else. And really, there is a chance that it might break — AIP is more moderate than Framåt, although not by far, but a small disagreement between both parties could hopefully cause a break in the system."

However, leaders of AIP and Framåt insisted that the coalition is unbreakable.

"Our alliance will not break, despite the wishes of our enemies," said noted AIP spokesperson, Mattias Wildensen. "We are both parties with similar goals — reforming the society of our country and instilling economic progress."

"No, absolutely not, this coalition will not break for the foreseeable future" replied Tilde Henderssen when asked whether the coalition was a fractious but necessary settlement between AIP and Framåt. "By the Gods, our two parties will truly make our country great! Framåt, Svea!"

Parliament Dissolved by Royal Decree
HRH William III, High King of the High Kingdom, has dissolved Parliament by royal decree, with elections scheduled for later in the year

Highminster, Shadwell - In a shock move, HRH William III of the High Kingdom has announced a royal decree - the first of it's kind in nearly a hundred years - that has dissolved Parliament and called for a general election on the 30th of July. The controversial move has been met with criticism, joy and mixed feelings from across the political spectrum. Oliver Trent has called the move "a disruption of our democracy and freedom", while Meghan Waters, a self-declared republican, has praised the move as "a necessary step to bring true democracy to Caltarania". Feagan Greil, leader of the Wrighte Partae, has called the move "a disgrace to democracy" though has said that he will "support the move, as all good subjects do".

A spokeswoman for the Socio-Democratic Party - which as of yet is still in it's leadership election - has told reporters that the move "is an example of royal decrees being used for good". The party has now had to move the date for the election forward to the 13th of July - tomorrow. No clear leader has yet emerged, however though there are four candidates it seems to be a two-horse race between veteran leftist Gerald Sanders and the more moderate centrist Peter Hardcastle. The former has gathered the support of the majority of trade unions - such as Side by Side and the National Union of Working People - in addition to the Coalition of Trade Unions (CTU) itself. His clear anti-austerity platform seems to resonate with these unions, whereas Peter Hardcastle's more centre-left attitudes appear to attract a broad church of members. The other candidates - Anne Lladnek and Jane Balls - are expected to gather a minority of the votes.

We also have reason to believe that the election may use a more proportional system, such as the single-transferable vote, however we have not received confirmation on this. After all this drama and cancellation of elections, it seems that nothing is certain in the politics of the High Kingdom anymore. What are your opinions on this? Please leave them in the comments below.

Monique Degar, Minister of the Interior, Apologises Over Police Failures

Antoinette Giourd(@Antionette Giourd), July 12th

Verlois - Ile de Fleur Following the news circulating around the breach of privacy in Monaque, where the King of Glytter Kenneth IV was staying, various political figures have each stretched their voices and opinions on the matter about what should be done. Following Vallette's apology directly to the monarch at his holiday residence, Minister of the Interior Monique Degar saw it fit to make a direct public apology. With the civil police falling under her jurisdiction, it was only thought as necessary by members of the Cabinet.

"It is with great sorrow that I apologise on behalf of the failure of our good policemen and policewomen in their task of keeping the privacy of King Kenneth IV and his partner, Louis MacTomlin. Being the honoured guests that they were, we had expected such attempts to be taken to reveal their private lives at Monaque but we were completely flabbergasted upon learning that our perimeter had been breached and the privacy destroyed." Degar continued with his speech, promising for more positive results in the future and asking for the budget of the civil police to be raised to a slightly higher percentage to continue to allow them to operate under the more wide and various tasks they had been given.

Reports indicate that the Monarch of Glytter and Vallette are still on their good terms, which is a delight to hear - as both countries had organised this event in a show of the bond between them. To further this position, the officers at fault for their failure had also gathered at the Monaque residence where each individual personally apologised to the Kenneth and Louis. Our correspondent at the scene tells us this was well received by the Monarch and Star, much to the relief of Monique back at Verlois.

However, this failure in the force has brought up some unanswered questions and recent worries. First and foremost, many wonder if the Gaullican Civil Police would be able to do their duties effectively, but Monique had reassured them that the Gaullican Police Force was "more than adequate" in doing their day-to-day duties and this incident "merely shows their budget needs to be raised slightly more to reach the target."

On the other end of the spectrum, leader of the Fronte Nationale; Alfred Boulanger, has called for "a total refurbishment" of the civil and military police forces. During a speech where the right-winger leader dressed as a member of the Parti Populaire of old, he remarked how "under the days of the Fascists this would not have occurred" and "how the secret police employed during the Great War would not have failed in their tasks."

Image
Boulanger is known across Gaullica for his elaborate hand gestures whilst speaking, as well as his obsession with black and white photos.

Following his speech at Rayenne, the video has found itself a huge meme across the internet - with Boulanger's elaborate hand gestures and thick Gaullican accent providing him a great source of "Youtube Poop Material", especially outside of Gaullica where he is subtitled to horrendous proportions. Several funny videos include; "Boulanger Wages War on Dolphins", "Boulanger Points at Invisible Goats" and "Boulanger Dances to Gangnam Style."

Regardless of their political ideologies, it is a common cause of all parties involved for the police to arrest the paparazzi for breaking into private property. The search is currently on going, but the Gaullican Police and Glytteronian Royal Guard are hot on the tail of the criminals.

ST ELLEN'S BREAKS SILENCE ON ROYAL PHOTO SCANDAL
The Palace issues an official statement, head of HMRG sacked, lawsuit announced.

HM Kenneth IV while on a tour of the Versourv in Verlois earlier today.

SPARKLEVALE - St Ellen's Palace has issues an official statement regarding the recent scandal that has consumed the Glytteronian monarch concerning pictures published by Glytteronian celebrity gossip outlet Sugarlgam. The pictures were posted after massive amounts of international interest in an earlier post on the blog-like website. These images show the King and his partner, Louis MacTomlin, completely in the nude.

The statement from the Palace read "We are greatly concerned by this violation of His Majesty's and Mr. MacTomlin's privacy and civil rights, coupled with the breech of the security measures taken His Majesty's Royal Guard and the Gaullican Police. We are deeply applauded that a self-proclaimed 'news' outlet would publish such images of a sitting head of state. His Majesty and Mr. MacTomlin were perfectly within their legal rights in accordance with Gaullican laws, while the perpetrators of this crime were not. His Majesty has asked us to say the following on his behalf: 'I am disappointed the privacy of my fiancé has been violated in such an appalling way. I would like to thank the members of the Royal Guard and the Gaullican Police for their apologies and efforts to find the paparazzo who broke the law"'.

It was later announced by the Palace that His Majesty and Mr MacTomlin will be suing Sugarglam for the violation of their privacy in Glytteronian courts, and may take action against the individuals who actually took the pictures. It is expected the Gaullican government will also press charges, but that has yet to be confirmed.

The head of His Majesty's Royal Guard has been sacked. Mr. Jason Phillips' departure was announced around eleven o'clock this morning. This is the second time the service's ability to protect the monarch has been called into question. The first was when members of the paparazzo took pictures of the royal couple skinny dipping at their private villa in Gaullica. Since then, HMRG has implemented multiple reforms in an attempt to better protect the monarch, but clearly they have failed. Mr. Phillips' departure is no surprise due to the failure of his reforms. A vocal critic of HMRG is found in the leader of the Free Marketers, TC Pádraigín Ó Baoighill. "We cannot expect the King to be kept safe when he is guarded by a bunch of morons" she said in an interview. A new director has yet to be announced, but it is expect HMRG will be doing some serious vetting before hiring a new head.

"This scandal is not what most would expect in Glytter. By that I mean no one cares about the fact that the King was naked, but more so that people were able to surpass Gaullican Police lines and evade HMRG. Public nudity is in most of the cantons, bar the north where it's in all honesty too cold to walk around without any clothes on. It is legal on private property within Gaullica, and the yacht was private property after all. The international community may see the issue in the pictures, but in Glytter it lies in the violation of our monarch's privacy and civil rights, coupled with what appears to be his security detail's inability to protect him from potential harm" GBF analyst Flynn Brady said.

Despite the scandal, the King continues on with his duties in Gaullica, hosting a charity event at the famed Versourv in Verlois after touring the gallery earlier this morning. Relations between the two nations, who are seen as crucial international partners, still remain at an all time high. During a phone call between King Kenneth IV and President Vallette this morning the two the Gaullican head of state told the King he was "deeply concerned over the incident" and His Majesty thanked Vallette for hosting him and MacTomlin in Verlois. The two ended on good terms.

I cannot believe people have such little regard for the privacy of others! Sugarglam should be shut down and those damn paparazzo arrested! Good on the King for defending his right to privacy, and I hope HMRG is able to better defend such a great man in the future.

Paparazzi Arrested in Police Investigation of Monaque

Antoinette Giourd(@Antionette Giourd), July 14th

Photograph courtesy of Joanna Demarq

Monaque, Tomont - After a few days of searching for the culprits behind the breach in private property that retrieved the now infamous nude photos of the King of Glytter, Gaullican police had tracked the fiends back to Monaque. After numerous witnesses and tip offs reported that the members behind the events were staying in an apartment in Monaque, the Gaullican Civil Police was quick to react. Utilising elements of surprise and a superior knowledge of the city, the police were able to close off all streets and alleys from the apartment out to the main city. After this, several armed officers were sent into the apartments, weapons sheathed, and were able to find all known individuals responsible for the photography, including several heads of the infamous gossip site Sugarglam

The breach into private property and the breach of the privacy of the respect guest, King Kenneth IV of Glytter, is an unusual case in Gaullican history. No other such specific case has occurred before, but it is highly assumed it will be carried out as a regular breach of privacy and breaking into private property crime. The trial is scheduled to begin next week, with the perpetrators currently held in the Monaque Police Station. It is also expected a representative from the Kingdom of Glytter will also be present at the trial.

Jean Vallette, Antonine Duqense and Monique Degar have expressed their great approval of the actions taken by the police, with the trio stating "With our brave officers upon the field, we can assure the public once again our men and women know what they are doing in matters civil across all of Gaullica. Let this be a reminder of such a fact, and let Gaullica and Glytter rejoice with enthusiasm as our ties grow stronger with each passing day."

Election Results
16th of July 2015

Image
The Bürgerkammer Building: Who will be working here soon?

Reichstal, Vredlandia

After the Green Party left the government, the King called for a new election to find a stable government. As of now we have the official results of the election, confirmed by the Royal Election Commission, the Chief-In-Command and the current Chancellor. The voter turnout is expected to be rather high again, once more proving that the democratic elements of our great nation are functioning perfectly well.

Here are the results:

Conservative Block: 38 %

Monarchistic-Conservative Party 4.8 %
Party of the Vredlandian Aristocracy 3.5 %
Unity Movement 11.2 %
National Welfare Party 10.5 %
Vredlandian League 4 %
Christian Social People's Party 4%

The Conservative Block gains votes thanks to the reelections. Their opposition to the Green Party and its reckless resignation from the government made the Conservative Block not only mroe trustworthy, but a very good alternative. Only the PVA lost votes. Both the National Welfare Party and the Unity Movement remain dominant in the respectable camps of the Conservative Block, with the Unity Movement leading the rightists and the National Welfare Party leading the leftists. Should they be able to find a strong coalition partner they might as well set the Chancellor, the first conservative one since 1984.

National-Liberal Party: 31.9 %

The National-Liberal Party has moderate losses, most likely disappointed voters who have now switched to the Environmentalist List or the Conservative Block. In Marshland they lost nearly all the control they had, which is one reason fro the strong result of the Black Tree Party. Nevertheless they have another respectable result and might be able to set the Chancellor again. Theodor von Thane, current Chancellor, was chosen by the National-Liberal Party to be candidate, but his left-leaning attitude might be a burden for any not left-leaning government.

Black Tree Party: 6.2 %

The Black Tree Party is in an extremely good mood. It has almost doubled its result, achieving the second-best victory ever. As a traditionalyl rather weak party it is unlikely they will set the Chancellor, but could claim important ministries should they work together with any party to achieve a coalition. Economy and finance are among the ministries they previously claimed.

Green Party: 10.8 %

The Green Party lost almost half its votes. They have already complained that the close reelection date did not allow them to explain their motives and politics to their voters. Furthermore many famous Green politicians split and ran for the Environmentalist List, because they were not happy with the irresponsible behaviour of their leadership. It is highly unlikely that the Green Party will be able to set the Chancellor, although they do have a candidate, or participate in a coalition government after what happened.

Environmentalist List: 6.1 %

Thanks to an extremely media-effective exit from their own Green Party, the environmentalists managed to gather 6 % of the voters. They share many goals with their former party, but are more centre and more realistic. Leaving the government was a huge mistake in their opinion. There were some troubles with being admitted as list, yet there was no proof it is anti-monarchist. In a statement earlier today the Commander-In-Chief confirmed that the doubts only concern the Green Party and minor, single elements of the Environmentalist List, but not enough to prohibit it from partaking in parliamentary affairs.

Social Democratic List: 7 %

The thorn in the eye of military and crown - the Social Democratic List. For the third time after another they run for parliament now. The anti-monarchist and anti-establishment party may deny all unconstitutional behaviour, but it is only a matter of time until the Supreme Command will have enough proof to prohibit them like their predecessor of the Left Party and the Socialsit Party before that. Their results are around the same as before, although they interestingly lost voters to the Green Party, probably because it consequently broke the coalition.

Sodomy Laws across the Empire Repealed

Image
Protesters demand the resignation of Emperor Barek IV

July 18th, 2015

RADICAL reforms have been issued by Emperor Berek IV in regards to homosexuality in the country. This morning the Emperor signed a decree which decriminalized homosexual acts which before were punishable by death. In the past year alone approximately 16 men and 2 women were executed for violating the Sodomy Laws of the country. Emperor Berek IV was quoted saying that "the Sodomy Laws in place are obsolete an are not in line with Western norms." However, the Emperor's explanations have not satisfied many even within his government. Minister of Justice Saidi Badr resigned this afternoon citing that his servives to the Emperor were not needed any longer. Badr even stated that "the Emperor's reforms cannot be applied by me simply because I do not believe these reforms are the best for the country." Although the Minister left the capital city this morning to his native city he has warned that what he stands for has put him a step closer to his grave.

Intellectuals across the country praised the Emperor for his wisdom and solidarity to the homosexual community in the country. Dr. Adnan, a professor of civil rights at the University of Hamza, said that "the Emperor decided to take the best step, social reform is a very important factor in bringing the country into modernity." Dr. Adnan has even called on his colleagues at the University of Hamza to plan new classes and lectures about the future of the country in the field of civil rights.

On the other side of the spectrum, hard-line politicians have called the Emperor's move as disrespectful for the cultural heritage of Kūsar. En-Neouali Reda, a leading hard-liner, warned that "with the expansion of enfranchisement and overruling the sodomy laws the country was taking the slippery road towards a nation filled with vice, lust, and sin." He went further by pointing out that "the Emperor seemed to be more a friend of the West than of his own people." He applauded Minister Badr's resignation and warned that if something were to happen to him the nation could risk falling into a civil war.

Protesters against the measure have taken to the streets to demand the resignation of Emperor Berek IV. In some cities across the nation the protesters have gone violent by attacking nearby police officers and looting stores. The police declared a general curfew in many cities beginning from 6 PM. Anyone outside will be arrested and sent to jail for interrogation. The recent clashes with the police has left 7 people injured and one dead. The National Police reported that 3 of their officers were injured and were already receiving medical attention.

Supporters of Emperor Berek IV have also made their voice be heard by marching peacefully in the capital city of the country. Although both protesters and supporters did not face on the streets of the capital city, many fear that tensions are already growing too high. The National Police fears that a clash could lead to a bloody result which could spill over to other regions of the country.
