The New World Times is a brand new news network out of the DC district reporting on items of interest in today's, 2015, region of New world. Not a political dominated network, TNWT provides a neutral look into interesting diplomatic relations, events, wars and information on the nations involved. Pluralism is the dominating factor. We wish to provide foreign nations with a range of regional views to suit all audiences. We do accept requests for articles provided that your nation is in New World.

The TNWT network headquarters is situated in Washing DC. It has six floors which all cover different areas of the news. Floor one is for administration. Here one can set up a meeting to have a news item broadcasted over our network. Floor two is for peaceful interaction. Floor three is for matters of war. Floor four is for national events. Floor five is for articles on a nation of interest. Floor six is the control floor. There is only one branch in the entire region.

RAGING RIOTS IN DC

Today in UWD a peaceful strike has turned into a full blown riot. At 10am this morning 2,000 students took to the streets outside of the Washington government building. They came to protest about college fees and student taxes. They massed outside of the government building, holding pickets and playing loud music. Government APCs turned up at the scene firing rubber bullets at the students. More people amassed at the gathering, this time wielding assorted weapons, smashing shop windows and cars. The riot police broke upon the crowd, hitting them with military grade batons. After four hours of protest over 1,000 people were arrested on vandalism charges and GBH against riot officers. The UWD government has decided to cut taxes slightly on students to avoid further public incidents

Aeurian Military Numbers on the Rise

Following an order by His Majesty, Emperor Aleksander of Aeuria, the Imperial Armed Forces of Aeuria, IAFA, has begun the training of a large number of personnel, estimated to be around 25,000; no official number has been provided by the Ministry of War. It is unusual for the now-peaceful Empire to expand its military size in such a large way. For decades, following Aeuria's end of Imperialism, the military budget has been consistently low, however in recent years it has seen a spike in funding. The Ministry of War declined to comment on the purpose of the sudden surge of recruitment.

Political and military commentators have claimed the Empire may be preparing for a territorial expansion, as the build up of IAFA personnel has continually grown for the past 5 years. These commentators, a small but vocal minority, cite the history of the Empire as the basis of their claims. During the height of Aeurian Imperialism, (17th-20th century), troop buildups would occur during times of peace or inactivity and then be suddenly unleashed in overwhelming numbers a few years later. A strategy which proved successful time and time again. Many critics however dismiss these claims as pure speculation, with "not a shred of evidence". The common consensus is simply an expansion of the Imperial Defense Force.

In 1968, following the Soledan War for Independence, in which Aeuria lent military and financial aid to the now-ruling Socialist Party of the south African nation, through a series of complications Aeuria lost its newly established grip on Soleda. Blamed largely on a sure of nationalism and support for the new socialist government by the population, as well as a series of diplomatic faux pas made by then Prima Consul Lord Harrison Octavius, the Empire, for the first time in its history, surrendered a colonial claim. Following Aeurian withdrawal, a huge bill for their failed attempt at establishing a puppet-state landed on the taxpayers. This turned long-time popular support of Imperialism amongst Aeurians into popular protests. In 1970, Aeuria withdrew from the majority of its colonies throughout the world, the Aeurian public unwilling to pay for their upkeep. While this move shocked the world and severely limited Aeurian global influence, it was astronomically popular with Aeurians and the populations of their former colonies, who were suddenly granted independence after decades, even centuries, of colonial rule.

However, in recent years, public opinion has begun to change. Following a documentary released in 2007, titled "Lost Glory", about Aeuria's once-vast empire, opinion polls saw a huge rise in support of Imperialism. This rise has caused alarm amongst the Aeurian ruling class, who, for decades, has maintained a peaceful approach to foreign policy. The question on many minds, both Aeurian and internationally, is "Will we see a renewed Aeuria, one who has returned to its colonizing and conquering?" Both the Imperial Palace and Ministry of War have maintained standard rhetoric, saying "Unsubstantiated conjecture does not warrant the attention of the government." It would seem only time will tell whether or not war is on the horizon.

Pakxe Pact Declares War on Thailand!

Welcome to Pakxe Pact International News Distribution. Today we will look at the conflict between the Republic of Free Thailand and the Pakxe Pact. The war began just yesterday over the Treaty of Bangkok, which allowed Thailand to keep the well-known city and prevented the Kingdom of Siam, a member of the Pakxe Pact, from having much influence there.

This agreement was the ending treaty of the Thai-Pakxe War, which ended with the annexation of Eastern Thailand by Siam. This new war, now termed the War for Bangkok, is focused less on strategic control and appears to be oriented towards the defence and attack of the city itself. Of course, in such early times, it is difficult to tell what level of planning will come into play.

One notable contribution to this effort is the commitment of several divisions of the Khmer Imperial Veteran Army, the experienced infantry of the Khmer Empire, to aid Siamese troops in battle. Numerous attack helicopters have also been sent for deployment at Bangkok.

Current estimates say that the Siamese will have victory soon, at most a few monhs, but several Pact meteorologists have examined the area and believe that a hurricane will soon enter the area. This may force the acceleration of the war effort.

On the morning of 4th of April 2015 andabout 11:15 in the morning, a terrorist attack was made in the most important building of both Estenia and Neo Joseon, which was made for creating a co-prosperity sphere as well as becoming allies after all the strained relations of the past, the Neo Joseon-Estenia Co-Prosperity Building. A group of 50 armed terorists surrounded the building, while only 4 a bit more heavily armed men went in and killed 32 people and after 2 hours of having 121 hostages, the set up a bomb in the building and they caused a massive explosion killing all the hostages and them leaving the place. Their target, to strain the relations Neo-Joseon and Estenia. 3 hours after they left, a company of Estenian soldiers, after listening to the news, saw their cars and attacked the terorists, killing 5 and capturing the rest. The group is called 'Siamese Force of Destruction' and the Estenian government as well as the Neo-Joseon one were investigating the group since October 2011, after the attack on an oil truck bringing oil from Estenia to Neo-Joseon as well. The Estenian Government is also calling the Siamese Government to stop the attacks on those places.

The following is an extract from Pakxe Pact International News

Today we have breaking news! A terrorist attack on a building constructed to further relations between the Neo-Joseon and Estenia was just attacked by a group known as the "Siamese Force of Destruction", killing over a hundred innocents. The attack has been blamed on King Phu Khwam of Siam, who stated the following this morning:

"Siam has taken no part in this attack. We have no interest in attacking the mighty nations in Northern Asia, and our military does not condone terrorists. Our forces rake busy fighting in Bangkok, and as such there is no use for such an attack. The Pact condemns this terrorist organisation that not only killed over a hundred innocent lives, but also using a title that puts the blame immediately upon the Pakxe Pact, the Kingdom of Siam and myself."

In further news, a suspected terrorist attack has occurred in southen Viet Dai. Viet Dai forces are being sent to investigate and hopefully eliminate this threat. To ensure the prevention of further damage, the Khmer Empire is deploying medium helicopters in the affected province.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, talks with The Great Warrior Rivers regarding the liberation of Alcasians living in the Antilles have failed to conclude. While a reported 26.2 million livres ($20 million USD) was offered for the acquisition of the historically Alcasian islands of la Martinique, Guadeloupe, and Saint Barthélemy, the GWR delegation refused, rudely claiming that "land is not infinite like money" and that they would "refuse any offer [given]".

Despite the history of cordial relations between Alcase and the Great Warrior Rivers, this rather rude confrontation of ambassadors has sparked anti-GWR sentiment throughout the Alcasian Republic.

This rise in ill-feeling has been followed by the ramping up of the military force in the overseas province of Guyane, where the Charles de Gaulle nuclear-powered aircraft carrier and a Foreign Legionary force of 15,000 is stationed. Defense spending, as approved by Parliament, has also risen to record high levels since the end of conscription in the late 1980s.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also allegedly stated that it will be seeking the approval of the international community and ensuring commitment to the protection of French speakers throughout the world with the establishment of an International Organisation of la Francophonie, comprising of French-speaking nations. While the exact details and current situation of la Francophonie is unknown at the moment, Alcase 24 will be providing the most up-to-date news and information regarding all Alcasian matters.

All were relieved last week when the two ambassadors, meeting once again to reconcile their hostilities, have both paid respects to each other. While Alcase is still without les Antilles alcasiennes, The Great Warrior Rivers have agreed to join the promising new international cooperative organisation, la Francophonie. Not only has the organisation gained an admirable ally, but it has further strengthened its abilities to endure through and execute the missions its founders had set in stone upon its establishment.

While GWR resentment is low once again in Alcase, the people have clamored for imperial ambitions to be pursued for the glory of la Francophonie. What the Alcasian government plans to make of this is unsure, but one may hypothesize that the Government, since it is ruled by the people and for the people, will thusly carry out the will of the people.

GOLDSTEIN SURVIVES CONFIDENCE VOTE, BUT RIOTS CONTINUE

WASSERSCHLOSS - The Freedom-Democratic coalition government led by DP leader Wilhelm Goldstein barely survived a confidence vote in the Volkstag late last night amid rioting over the new recession and the executions of several Friedeckish soldiers in the Pakxe Pact.

Protests and calls for Goldstein's resignation began two weeks ago when the families of seven special operatives sent to the Pakxe Pact, reportedly to smuggle away a political dissident facing prosecution, told the public in a press conference about the soldiers' hasty executions after being shot down.

"We don't know everything about what happened in Siam," one anonymous family member said, "but what we do know, and what the army told us not to say, is what we can tell you today. This rescue was Goldstein's idea, and he must pay."

Social Democratic Party chief and opposition leader Karin Ledig called for a vote of no confidence on 28 April, to be held on the 30th, coinciding with the release of the latest national report by the economy ministry, which formally announced that Friedeck was in recession after the burst of the automobile bubble. This economic news exacerbated the protests, which escalated in Wasserschloss and Berlin into all-out riots.

Despite the chaos in the Volkstagplatz, which was kept contained by Wasserschloss police, the vote was held as scheduled, failing 99-104. A difference of three votes would have resulted in the dissolution of the government and snap elections.

Some have called for President Ada Betcher to dissolve the Volkstag despite the result, which would involve invoking an unused and controversially vague clause of the constitution which gives the president the power to dissolve the legislature and call an election "in times of great national distress." Betcher's office has not commented on whether it is considering this option.

Pakxe Nuked

The recent war in Indonesia, or the War of Borneo as it is known in the Pact, has been devastating for all participants. However, it was in the final escalation of the war the the most truly tragic events of mass destruction occurred.

After the Aeurians ordered an advance towards Pact lines in Borneo and stealth aircraft began the bombing of essential military, political and industrial bases, the Pact retaliated using a large conventional ICBM. Although not containing a weapon of mass destruction, the missile struck the capital of Aeuria, Praevalidus, heavily damaging the city and angering the population.

In response, Aeuria deployed nuclear explosives, and the Pact launched chemical missiles at Praevalidus. One Pact missile hit, and a single Aeurian nuclear missile impacted Pakxe, the capital of the Pakxe Pact, causing an immediate surrender of the latter side.

The city of Pakxe now lays in ruins, few killed so far thanks to a rapid evacuation, but with once glorious buildings now razed to the ground. Nuclear fallout is expected to move across the planet, and although southern winds will eventually blow most of the radiation towards Antarctica, the Pact, Vaarin, Aeuria, Albuaria, and numerous other states are expected to be flooded with residual radiation over the next few days.

In compliance with the terms of the surrender, the Pact has been forced to dismantle its Air Force and give up the majority of its navy, with a land force restriction of 100,000 men in place. However, many military personnel, including General Tûn Tông, the commander of the Borneo theatre, Pânh Nâm Phîen, the Pact's former chemical weapons minister, and Semwong Maritapa, the leader of the Siamese Crime Prevention Authority, have defected and fled to the jungles of the Pact. The entirety of the Hmong Reserve and SCPA have also mutinied and are joining together in what appears to be a full scale revolution against the Aeurian occupation. Little is known about what these traitors intend to do, but they have access to stolen aircraft, chemical weapons, experience, and possibly a remaining Pact ICBM.

Many in the Pact are angered at the Aeurians for this action, and the feeling is quite mutual. However, it is now widely known that the war has been won by Aeuria and its allies. The Pact is receiving aid in cleaning up the nuclear waste from Aeuria as of now. We will have more news as the recovery effort continues.

The war in Indonesia came to to a close following the unconditional surrender of Pakxe Pact forces to the Aeurian Commonwealth, following the launching of Weapons of Mass Destruction. While Pakxe Pact initiated the escalated conflict through launching several chemical and biological ICBMs to the Aeurian capital, his imperial Majesty, Emperor Aleksander, responded with a nuclear strike targeted towards the Pakxe Pact's capital.

While the nuclear strike was condemned by President Angela Smith, diplomatic tensions between the historically cordial commonwealths have relaxed and relations between the two are back to original feelings.

With the nearly instant surrender of the Pact following the detonation of the nuclear bomb in their capital, the Aeurian Commonwealth was awarded their former imperial lands and has offered humanitarian aid to all in the Southeast Asian threatre.

In the African theatre, in an attempt by Francophonie forces to liberate the oppressed people of South Africa from the Punic apartheid regimes, the organisation has seen huge success. Following a bitter war, which saw public favor swing towards the Francophonie forces, the governments of South Africa, Namibia, and Angola collapsed, while the Punic-born heads-of-state of Mozambique and Botswana have gone into exile, handing power to the dominating Francophonie nations of Aeuria and Alcase. In the West African theatre, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, and Togo have all surrendered to the Francophonie armed forces, hopefully ending the totalitarian trend held by the dictators over the past years.

Following peace talks immediately succeeding the cessation of war, it has been decided by Fleet Admiral Charles Rafale of [nation=Alcase] and Emperor Aleksander XVII of [nation=Aeuria] that the African lands would become mandates of the Francophonie organisation. The West African nations, along with Angola, S.Africa, and Mozambique, will become administered by Alcase while Aeuria has pledged to aid in the administration of the nations of Namibia and Botswana. A bright future is speculated for Africa, especially under the morally righteous guidance by the international organisation of the Francophonie.

The Alcasian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced today that the Republic will uphold the African peoples' rights to self-determination and allow the Alcasian-led mandates to remain almost fully autonomous, while simultaneously encouraging and incentivising investment into African infrastructure, business, and health.

His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Aleksander of [nation=Aeuria] sent out the following statement, issued by the Imperial Palace:

"Through joint efforts with our close and respected allies in la Francophonie, a coalition force swept through Southern Africa deposing several totalitarian and inhumane governments. I am happy to see the native Africans now being treated with the basic human rights they are entitled to as occupants of this planet. I am confident, through cooperation with la Francophonie, Aeuria will be able to bring peace and prosperity to Africa, improving the quality of life of those who call the majestic continent home. The Empire extends full citizenship to all inhabitants of Namibia and Botswana with the hopes that those who are interested will benefit from the rights granted to Aeurian citizens; such as access to proper medical facilities, education, food and clean water, security, and personal and civil rights."

In a response to this public statement sent out to international news stations, the President of Alcase has similarly prepared her own statement, which was to be read aloud in a TV announcement, live from the Palais d'Élysée.

"With the unwavering help from our most staunch allies in la Francophonie, we, as a people the world looks up to, have officially liberated the African people from the totalitarian, abusive, and disgustingly harsh treatment from their political regimes. With the help from Emperor Aleksander XVII, and the humanitarian agencies of la Francophonie, I am certain that we, as a Republic, and as fellow countrymen, will be sure to improve the quality of life, economy, health standards, and rights offered to the formerly oppressed peoples. As we are interested in the extension of similar rights to healthcare, education, properly handled food, sanitized water, a faithful security assurance, and human rights, the government of Alcase has prepared to extend full citizenship to the Alcasian mandates. While this will improve their quality of life, as well as reaffirm our own morals that we strive to pursue, it shall also grant to them full association with the Francophonie organisation, and also allow them full and equal access to the security, economic, and education opportunities offered by our allies.

Announcements from various military organizations confirmed today that his Majesty, Stanis IV, ordered the militarization of the expansive western border. With the recent coronation of Stanis IV as Emperor of Mascargo, this new act was unprecedented and surprising.

Reports of reinforcements having already reached the Ziemia-Mascargoan border came quickly, prompting many to conclude that this had been a long-thought plan of the Emperor's all along. Civilian reports also reached us indicating that the western border is currently in the process of being reinforced, with troops constructing defenses. Orgovgrad Air Force Base was on high-alert today, with near-constant streams of military jets launching on patrols.

Evidence from other European nations have surfaced indicating that the Mascargoan Airforce has violated international airspace of various countries over all of Europe, causing fear and in some cases, military response.

While some hail the move as a message to Europe that Mascargo is still a dominant military power, others like President Boris Yetasky had this to say:

"This move by Emperor Stanis is nothing more than an attempt to throw his authority around like a bad case of a schoolyard bully. Stanis is effectively threatening the majority of Europe and is risking multiple diplomatic incidents over this display of his. It's not surprising that this move comes after his recent coronation as an Emperor. His actions are entirely in disregard to the foundation of the Citizen's Commune and threatens the diplomatic element of this nation. Where the Citizen's Commune stands on this, I can not say, but this will clearly be an issue in our next session."

Others, such as political analyst Johan Veninov, speculate that the reasoning behind Stanis' actions stem from his newly formed United Dawn Imperium:

"It's rather obvious when you look at it. Emperor Stanis is giving an ultimatum, or a message if you will, to the rest of the world. If we look at the MDF's act; militarizing the borders and violating the national airspaces of various neighboring countries, we see a common trend. Stanis is making a statement: If you're not with the Imperium, you're against it. His orders are clearly a show of force intended to encourage other nations to join the Imperium, nothing more."

While the international community has been ramping up unnecessary peace-time military forces, the Alcasian Republic has been ramping up research investment. Both private and government agencies have been donating a sum of trillions of dollars towards research at space or physical research centers such as CERN and the National Space Launch Facility in la Guyane. This increase in donation funds has aloud research to be accelerated nearly hundreds-fold, and has brought some promising new inventions and discoveries to the State's table.

International scientists, notably from Aeuria and Alcase, have recently been conducting successful experiments concerning inter-dimensional particulate movement. The scientists have, through forcing cycling acceleration and improved propulsion systems, conducted decisive labs which have concluded with the existence of more than three dimensions.

While the scientists concede that these further dimensions are almost impossible to reach or interact with, it has been hypothesized that matter could travel between dimensions, potentially allowing faster-than-light travel. While only small particles such as individual atoms have been moved from three-dimensional space to ultradimensional space successfully, the Alcasian-Aeurian scientists believe that one day, huge constructs can make the transition from the physical realm to the fourth, fifth, and sixth dimensional realms.

The main problem with the transitional slipping between spaces is the immense amount of radiation emitted from the collisions, which can easily fry nearby unprotected equipment.

CERN scientists, interested wholly in keeping world peace, have agreed to keep the rest of the experiment data secret and have barred international requests to work on the experiments. Accension into the labs require personal invitations from the CERN scientific department heads, and no state with active, hostile armed forces standing in peacetime should not expect to receive any invitation.

While CERN is located within Alcasian borders, the land granted to the organisation have been treated as extra-territorial; meaning the State typically has no jurisdiction within its limits. Nonetheless, the Alcasian Naval Force, National Space Research and Exploration Organisation, and the National Center of Space Research, three gov't-funded entities, have been working closely with CERN, which reflects the Alcasian government's increasing interest in Geospatial research.

Following the nuclear attack on the Pakxe Pact by the Aeurian government, the joint effort by Beijing University, Sungkyunkwan University, Jiphyeonjeon, and Hanyang Institute of Technology to perfect nuclear energy was reinstated by His Majesty Emperor Park Shin under the now declassified name, "Hanyang Pile," as a crude reference to the first nuclear reactors created. Using previous efforts by independent researchers as well as the Hanyang Pile in the past as well as the Youngsil Fusion Reactor left untouched for over 2 years, the joint research effort ended in success one week ago when the first sustained fusion reaction in Joseon's history was reached.

As the director of the project, His Majesty allowed the release of the research paper detailing the process used to achieve the stunning breakthrough, with over 100 different names included who have contributed to the project. The paper concludes by reiterating the success of the joint effort between the top research institutions in the Empire. In a statement given to the scientific journal Atom, Yi Shin-Li, a professor at Beijing University and Vice Director of the joint project stated, "For the first time in history, we have not only harnessed the power of the Sun, we have created our own Sun."

Through the usage of controlled fission reactions of U-235 using a steady stream of neutrons, hydrogen was placed under a high pressure environment with inert krypton gas. The combination of high pressure and temperature allowed hydrogen atoms to fuse together, setting off a controlled chain reaction. Due to fear of meltdown and the inability to properly dispense waste heat in such a volatile environment, the reaction was forcibly stopped after several seconds.

While peer review is still underway, skeptics are few and far between as the sustained reaction generated over several hundred gigajoules of energy over the few seconds it was active, leaving very little doubt as to success of this project.

However, proliferation of fusion technology may still be a pipe dream as the generated heat and light as well as the energy required to begin the reaction are far beyond the capacity of most commercial organizations. However, researchers at Jiphyeonjeon believe the possibility for an indefinite fusion reaction, lasting so long as hydrogen and helium are supplied. An indefinite fusion reaction performed at the same specifications as the sustained reaction already demonstrated to work, they say, could potentially generate enough electricity to power all of Hanyang for several decades before

Though researchers believe this success to be a great breakthrough, this miracle energy source comes at a hefty price. Over $150 billion was spent on the creation and maintenance of the Youngsil Reactor alone. However, energy tycoon Ho Lao-Sun believes that in 25 years, fusion energy will begin to be commercially available to any and all large industries.

His Majesty has refused to speak on any issue regarding the existence of nuclear weapons development following the release of this successful endeavor, vehemently stating the principles of engineering a fusion reactor could never be scaled into a nuclear weapon without significant changes to the Youngsil reactor. Changes, His Majesty states, that are not willing to be made.

This comes at a critical point in regards to international relations, in which His Majesty had expressly stated his reluctance in involving himself militarily with the quickly destabilizing world. With the advent of such technology, perhaps Neo-Joseon no longer needs to be involved militarily and has shown instead that we are a strong contender for the scientific capital of the world

After weeks of deliberation by the College of Pontiffs, the Imperial Pantheon's highest ranking body, His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Aleksander XVII, of the Esteemed House of Fairfax has been declared a living Divine - becoming the first Aeurian in nearly 100 years to have the honor bestowed upon him. Although no reason for the deliberations has been provided, reports indicate the idea of elevating Emperor Aleksander's status to that of a living Divine was quickly agreed upon by the College. Pontifex Dubonoir gave an incredibly rare statement on behalf of the College at the Grand Temple in the Empire's religious capital, St. Aleksander:

It is with the humblest and sincerest joy that I come before you today. The College of Pontiffs has, since its inception, tirelessly served the Empire and its people - providing help and guidance for all who request it. It makes me indescribably happy to announce to you today the result of mine and my colleagues weeks of deliberation and meditation. Prompted by decades of unparalleled prosperity, glory, and success, we at the College - I forget who first floated the idea - said 'Such is the work of a Divine.'. It did not take us long to realize the truth in the offhand comment. We immediately began consideration of His Majesty and after several weeks, have unanimously declared Him a living Divine. He joins the most illustrious Aeurians of all time in this honor as he transcends even the highest position in the Empire. We at the College, with sincere and humble hearts, hope His Majesty will leave the Divine Hermitage and return graciously - not only as a true Divine but as an even further perfected man.

The announcement has taken the Empire by storm, with citizens attending temple services in record numbers and the approval ratings of His Majesty and His government are higher than ever. Both the nobility and the citizenry are feverish with a mixture of excitement, national pride, and a renewed sense of religious identity - as we see many returning to temples for the first time in years. If one thing is clear, apotheosization is certainly a good way to draw crowds.

As per tradition, His Majesty has withdrawn from His public duties for a period of no less than 1 month as he leaves the mainland to the Divine Hermitage, located on Aevolopia (New Zealand), to spend several weeks in silent and isolated meditation. During these weeks, it is hoped His Majesty, like all apotheosized, will finally achieve his perfected state of Divinity. HIGH COUNCIL OF GOÐI HOLDS DISCUSSION OF AEURIAN DIVINITY

The High Council of Goði have begun their much awaited meeting today in Oslo, discussing the recent news of Aeuria's Emperor Aleksander and his claimed divinity. Hofgoði Ragi Arngrimson declared the council summit after intense consideration from King Magnus XVII, who was displeased with the religious proclamation of Aeuria:

"Emperor Aleksander has defiled every notion of our Old Custom with his nation's proclamation of his divinity. For too long have we played nice with foreign religions, respecting their beliefs. None of them had declared a god to be alive; of flesh and bone. We instead lulled ourselves into false security, comforted by the knowledge that their gods were imaginary and fictitious. This act squanders everything that we hold sacred! Aeuria dares to insult our customs and our Æsir gods with this act. I have ordered the High Council to discuss this matter in detail, for their religious insight might better clarify the meaning behind this grievous insult. In the mean time, I, King Magnus XVII Jorundson of House Thorhallur hereby declares the Living Divine Aleksander a false god and his nation an enemy of the Svaladian people!"

King Magnus' condemnation of Aueria was met with cheers and high approvals from both the High Council and the Council of Champions, various goði speaking on his behalf and celebrating his defense of the Old Custom. The High Council of Goði is expected to discuss the validity of Aeuria's claim as well as discussing holy scripture for guidance. The most outspoken member of the High Council, Gyðja Olina Hallvarddottir openly stated the beliefs of many traditionalist Goði attending the council summit:

"This monumental exercise of Aeuria's heresy comes with heavy bearing upon our nation and people. We, the majority of the goði, have held in private the belief quoted through the holy scriptures: the end times may be soon upon us. Aeuria's proclamation reveals a hidden truth about their foul nation. We have concluded through extensive religious study that Aeuria may be Jotunheim. Long ago we had decided that Yggdrasil was not a physical manifestation, for only the Æsir may truly see the glory of the World Tree. Yggdrasil is a spiritual connection between worlds, our Midgard being this land. The High Council summit is expected to last over two days and has sent a formal request to the King for his attendance along with the Council of Champion to participate, a rather unusual act. The High Council has already emptied their archives, carefully transporting all Old Custom scripture and related documents to the summit. King Magnus is expected to deliver their conclusion upon the summit's resolution.

With the recent announcement of the "divinity" of the Emperor of Aeuria, outrage began sparking in Aeoel. They called on King Seggrbjorn to raise arms against this blasphemer, who dishonored the ancestors of man as well as the God of the World. Soon after, the Royal House locked its doors for the first time in two-hundred years. It can only be assumed that rituals, ceremonies and debates went on behind the closed doors of the palace, but it wasn't long before King Seggrbjorn Odinson IV made a declaration to his people:

My brothers and sisters of Aeoel, it grieves my heart to see a great nation fall to such a level. After consulting the Eddas and the Holy Bible, as well as communing with the Krist and the Angels of Old, I have decided that the best course of action is to join with our brethren, the people of Svaladia. Surely together, our great nations can show this wicked Emperor the error of his ways. I can guarantee that this will end one of two ways; Him begging forgiveness, or his blood on the shared sword of Aeoel and Svaladia!

Soon after, he boarded the royal helicopter and made his way to Svaladia, to speak with King Magnus and his Councils. He has left his wife, Queen Freya, in charge while he is way. May God and the Angels bless, guide and watch over her.

Sorrow and grief has hit the Kingdom of Aeoel recently, as death has struck within the royal family. While King Seggrbjorn Odinson IV has traveled to the land of King Magnus, a great tragedy came upon his beloved wife, Queen Freya Elanor Odinson. While no details have been released, a few leaked photos have led many Aelans to believe this was an act of fowl play. One photo in particular has set the nation ablaze, a picture of the wall of the bedroom with a symbol drawn on it in the blood of Queen Freya.

While our reporters have not been able to get a statement or a copy of this photo, another photo has been released officially. It is a picture of a a picture of Queen Freya, the same symbol painted on it.

The above picture was received by King Seggrbjorn weeks ago, and has recently been released to the public, along with a statement from Prince Seggrulf Odinson:

Until my Father's return, I have been left in charge, not of my own choosing but of necessity and duty. I swear to find whomever committed this heinous act and restore honor to the House Odinson, as well as the Kingdom of Aeoel. I will use any resources available, including a formal request to the Imperium. I eagerly await the return of King Seggrbjorn Odinson, my father, so that his wisdom may help us find these killers.

The statement seems to confirm what many already thought, that the beloved Queen Freya was murdered. Now we can only ask who and why until we discover the identities of these people. We pray for Crown Prince Seggrulf, and that he is guided by his ancestors, the Angels and by God until King Seggrbjorn returns from Svaladia.

Following the increasing international support of CERN and CNES projects, the nations of Alcase, Aeuria, Ulvena, and Mascargo have contributed scientists and astronauts in a joint-effort to propel space exploration into the future.

The CNES, or Centre National d'Etude Spatial, based in Paris, has recently announced their project for a renewed space station; one that rivals the current standing ISS, with Hubble Space Telescopic, lodging, research, and resource management capabilities. "The project," CNES declares, "is a difficult endeavor, but not impossible." Not only is Ariane 6, a brand-new space shuttle designed by the best aerospace engineers from around the globe, carrying the required materials to begin constructing this new installation, but it is also speculated to carry a brand new, experimental engine-like device that has been researched and built extensively in CERN. The details of the construct being brought with the team of astronautical scientists have not been disclosed to any media sources.

The new space station is estimated to cost up to $400 billion USD, however is expected to be completed in the near future due to the huge amount of funds being donated by government agencies, not-for-profit organisations, and private enterprises.

The President of the Alcasian Republic, upon hearing of the success of the launch of Ariane 6, has publicly made an announcement congratulating the scientists working on the project and thanking her allies abroad for aiding in this ambitious undertaking.

In other news, the band of Pink Floyd, from Floydian Britain has requested via State-sponsored communique to go on tour throughout Alcase, hoping to perform live bands and play their songs to the people of the Republic. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shot down the request almost immediately after receiving it, stating that the "scourge of Pink Floyd [and his] oppressive regime in the Isles would demonstrate to the world that the Republic advocates for this type of government, which is far from the truth." The Ministry cites the Floydian government's genocidal policies and disgusting conscription requirements in their justification, and calls for international condemnation and economic sanctions against the uncivilized Dictatorship.

The controversial Yegorvich Military Defense Appropriations bill has been making rounds through the Citizen’s Commune again, forcing an emergency vote to decide on a potential veto of it. Much speculation has arisen from opposition parties, led by President Boris Yetasky as to the true nature of the bill. Critics have claimed that the bill is obtuse and broadly written, allocating too much budget spending to uncertain departments. Some conspiracists cite the bill as evidence of a growing trend of secret funding projects by the Emperor, likely for some private or unknown organization(s).

Earlier in the week, Emperor Stanis IV was invited to the Citizen’s Commune and spoke on behalf of the legislation being proposed by his military staff:

”...The Yegorvich Military Defense Appropriations bill will allow the Imperial Federation to appropriately respond to all military needs of the nation and sufficiently defend the people of Mascargo, which is my duty as Emperor. This bill is a necessity in this quickly advancing future, and should be passed in order to protect Mascargoan interests. Furthermore, I’d like to remind all of you that this Citizen’s Commune holds no authority over me, and I can pass this bill regardless of your support or not. I’m asking for us to join in unity, working together to defend our nation.”

Most concerns over the proposed legislation comes from article 5, which states:

”Appropriated funding will be divided among necessary branches, organizations and other defensive organizations in order to protect from unknown hostilities. Appropriated funding to constituents will remain secure and secret in order to protect Mascargo and other nations and in order to continue investigative accessibility without compromising constituent’s status.”

Opponents claim this as prime evidence of the multiple loopholes and overly general language of the entire bill. Some conspiracists have even taken to the internet, discussing beliefs ranging from impending war to the formation of a secret military organization.


Regardless of what is truly the purpose behind the Yegorvich bill, it is expected to pass with a small majority through the Citizen’s Commune.

His Majesty, Emperor Aleksander XVII leaving for his isolation to the Temple of Accession near Uluru

After only 1 day after returning from the coronation of Emperor Stanis and Empress Anna, Emperor Aleksander has left the capital, with members of the College of Pontiffs, to begin his at least 1 month isolation. It is hoped during this isolation, His Majesty will be able to commune with the Divines and achieve Divinity himself. The secrecy regarding this "ritualistic isolation for the intent, with capability, to ascend to the status that of a Divine.", as described by the College, has again been kept. The normally divulging Emperor was unusually calm and quiet before departing, making no hints at what lay before him in the desert.

His Majesty made the following statement, unusually surrounded by Pontiffs, before departing the Imperial Palace:

It is with the greatest humility I leave for the highest call of duty; which 6 of my ancestors, and a handful of other brilliant Aeurians, have answered. I cannot properly express my surprise and thankfulness to the [College of Pontiffs] for considering me for such an honor, but of course, they would tell you they are simply doing the work of the Divines. I sincerely hope my time in the Temple of Accession is worthy of their consideration and can only hope the Divines' honor me with their presence and wisdom. I make history on this day, not merely with my own departure, but with my appointment of my daughter, the Princess Marie, to serve as Regent for the duration I am gone. It is with the fullest faith in Her capabilities as a politician, commander, and as a Fairfax, that I leave Her to rule in my stead. I hope the two of us may make history together - thank you.

His Majesty's statement was received well by a crowd estimated in the millions, as massive crowds formed in the Imperial Square and the surrounding streets. It is unknown exactly how long His Majesty will be absent from official duties, however it is to be no less than 30 days. If we can use history as any indication, we can expect Emperor Aleksander to return anywhere from exactly 30 days to several years; as the Divine-Emperor Aleksander VI, after which St. Aleksander is named, did so in the 7th century. As there is no information as to what goes on in the Temple or what His Majesty will experience, outside of complete isolation from others - there is little room to speculate on the length of his departure.

Following the regal appointment, Her Highness, Princess Marie XIV, was called to the Imperial Senate House to affirm and legalize her historic, if temporary, accession to the throne. Following a short ceremony, the Princess was retitled as Her Imperial Excellency, Marie I, of the Esteemed House of Fairfax, Princess-Regent to the Imperial Throne of the United Imperial Commonwealth of Aeuria (which is the shortest legal version of Her title).

Her Imperial Excellency made a statement following her accession to the regency:

I am honored and proud to serve as this great Empire's first Princess-Regent during His Majesty's absence. I hope not only to maintain the esteemed standards of the Empire, but to actively engage in politics. I will not, for a moment, rest during my time on the Throne. I intend to keep the Empire running on all cylinders - nothing will shut down simply because His Majesty is absent. I hope to see the Empire in an improved state upon my father's return: to hand back an Empire that is truly worth the rule of a Divine - to a Divine. Vive l'empire! Vive les Divines!

Excitement is the only word appropriate and necessary to describe the feeling in the capital. Citizens, from the highest circles of nobility to the poorest of beggars, all over Praevalidus, and indeed the Empire, celebrate as both their Emperor leaves to achieve Divinity and their Princess makes history in assuming the Regency. Concerns about international tensions and even possible armed conflict have been pushed aside to make room for a more celebratory and optimistic mood. However, the Imperial Palace has assured us, via an independent statement, that "No citizen should be made to feel less safe as a result of recent events. The security of the Empire and her lands has not been altered in anyway. Our defenses and brave soldiers stand at the ready to defend the Empire and her citizens. Her Imperial Excellency will, as expected, be assuming all of His Majesty's duties to ensure continuity of governance.".

The successful launch of the British satellite Eclipse by Floydian Britain on June 5th has shocked and frightened many Alcasiens. As the satellite orbits the earth, our government reacted with dismay that the British are moving to the level of the supposedly technologically superior Alcase. There has been fear that with their new invention, the British had gained the upper hand in the Anglo-French Rivalry.

The opposition party scorched the Prime Minister for allowing the Dictatorship to move closer to their goal of British domination. Though unofficial, the Prime Minister might respond by speeding up the Alcasien space program. The “space race” has begun.

An Aeurian Space Shuttle docks on the incomplete Space Station

The release of Alcase's expensive overseas mandates has freed up much of the Government's budget, and those livres have been put to good use. Aeurian, Joseon, Mascargoan, and Alcasian spaceship launching platforms have been in full throttle since the launch of Ariane 6 not too long ago. Similarly, secret, government-sanctioned geo-spatial experiments have been conducted involving the aforementioned nations, mainly testing out new technology developed in secret laboratory locations like CERN and the Neo-Joseon's chief research center.

For the first time since its construction, humans have docked on the Space Station and are currently setting up inside accommodations, as well as preparing labs and lodging rooms. Until now, it has been mostly autonomous robots constructing the space station, most of which were developed inside the borders of The Neo-Joseon Empire of Ulvena.

The Space Station does not have a name yet, however, many CNES officials have either proposed or endorsed that the Station be titled, "La Liberté".

In other news, CNES has announced this morning two incredibly ambitious projects. The government-funded organisation has stated that it plans to send satellites to the planet of Venus in order to research conditions for possible human colonization in the future, and also to begin sending autonomous rover robots to the Moon to evaluate its geology, searching chiefly for H-3 atoms that might be useful for spatial research projects. While the organisation lacks the support of the international community in its funding and research, it hopes that the Alcasian government can secure its allies to stand behind the CNES in its project and collaborate towards a common goal.

The Rafasid Caliphate Space Exploration Program, or RCSEP, has long desired the launch of anything but basic orbiters and test rockets, but the program has finally accomplished its first orbital launch of a fully functional weather observation and mapping satellite. The craft, named "Glory" (مجد), was launched on a standard Rafasid Orbital Launcher MkII in order to reach polar orbit, thus enabling the craft to gain accurate measurements of the entire planet.

The initial planning stages of this mission considered it to be necessary to wait for advancements in technology to come before launch, but the recent declared "space race" between Alcase and Floydian Britain made it easy to gain motivation and equipment to show that the Caliphate could match the west in space exploration.

After the planning was deemed valid and safe to follow, the mission was accelerated, albeit without any real cuts aside from some auxiliary features. The launcher took off at approximately 12:30 pm in Caliphate time from the Riyadh Launchpad. The mission went smoothly, with the booster left to crash into the Indian Ocean to prevent the addition of space junk, whilst the satellite used its own power to reach orbit. The Glory (مجد) satellite is currently nearing Scandinavia, mapping and examining meteorology as it travels.

Mission Director Mohammed al-Boussaid had this to say on the mission when interviewed online on an official Caliphate channel: "It wasn't entirely perfect, but very close. Praise be to Allah for this great triumph. I honestly can't believe that we did it, sometimes. But the Caliphate, in our eyes, and hopefully those of Allah, has proven itself a worthy competitor in the realms of space."
