The only things the Northern Kingdoms has censored are material that would highly offend a religion or race.

Press and media censorship is very limited in Minoa: we can't stop them from publishing anything unless it promotes homophobia, Scientology or Nazism, and anything that threatens other people's satisfactory guarantees of free speech or safety.

The only websites we're allowed to block are those that promote child pornography.

Mild censorship is in place to protect minors from depictions of rape, murder, ultra-violence, and so forth. This mostly means adult-themed shows don't broadcast in the morning and early afternoon when kids could be watching. While movies and TV shows have ratings, it's largely up to parents to enforce.

Other forms of media are generally uncensored, though good manners means actual, real snuff and extreme gore are never shown.

Some media sources self-censor to avoid litigation. Others seem to revel in libellous behaviour.

With the exceptions of such things like child pornography or government secrets, censorship imposed by the government of Aikoland is strictly forbidden, as that is considered a violation of the freedom of speech and is, therefore, unconstitutional.

Self-imposed censorship on the other hand, while not extremely common, isn't unheard of and is legal, same with censorship by corporations.

To a degree, yes. All "censored" material is only available through our library system and is not for individual sale. It is up to the librarian who is eligible to view the restricted section and allowing minors to view anything in there comes with a hefty fine. Once someone has reached the age of twenty, they are free to browse the restricted section of the library without a problem (they also get a special sticker on their library card). The Bible, the Quran, and virtually all forms of controversial literature are held within the restricted section.
