0, native Jamillans are all female. However, with humans emigrating to Jamilla, male immigrants are treated with equality, even if we do find their lack of curves and their body hair odd.

4 Women are legally equal with males, and domestic violence, sexual crimes and sexism are strongly cracked down on, but there are hidden pockets of sexism around.

De jure: 0. While our citizens have a biological gender, it is not registered, and pretty much ignored by all laws, except for those meant to prohibit discrimination.

De facto: 4. The constitution grants equal rights to all citizens, and discrimination of any kind, including against women, is illegal. It´s not much of an issue, actually. Most people respect these laws, exceptions are rare, and law enforcement against offenders is strict.

4.5.

Our government has implemented social measures to completely eradicate sexism. Women are totally equal; the glass ceiling has been smashed and sex has no influence on any matter of the like.

4- as gender equality is highly revered in Davao and Mati and the laws are quite strict about the topics of discrimination since 1920 when the reforms are pushed and faced no legal opposition alongside with high yes votes from the referendum.

Postby Enatai » Wed Feb 25, 2015 3:00 pm

Essentially we are a 0 on that scale. For a long time Enatai did have women, who were generally treated as though they were a separate society, and generally they only came together with men for purposes of procreation. For whatever reason, probably a mix of environment and cultural inertia, heterosexuality as an actual attraction gradually came to be seen as something of a rarity, and in time as a kind of foreign oddity, largely met with tolerance, though some--you might call them hillbillies, generally rural and more conservative (conservative in the sense of conserving older, more xenophobic notions than most, a kind of mirror-conservatism), consider heterosexuality to be disgusting or even immoral.

In time, most women in Enatai either moved to the cities or, more often, simply left the country. This kept Enatai's population relatively small and insular for a while until the advent of artificial wombs and rudimentary genetic modification ("designer babies," though the practice is still considered controversial even now, a considerable period of time after its inception), at which point the population promptly exploded. If not for a longstanding tradition of vertical sprawl, this likely would have eaten through Enatai's resources in a matter of decades, but so far the economy has been generally steady and strong.

In any case, legally women have the same rights as men, although as such a small minority, it would be very hard to argue that men don't totally dominate the culture, conversation, demographics, and personal interactions of Enatai. Gender is not considered an appropriate topic for legislative action--it simply isn't seen as the government's business--so legally speaking, gender is totally irrelevant. In practice of course, women are a rarity outside of the largest cities, and even there, they tend to have areas where they congregate the most, usually in rather insular heterosexual neighborhoods, where being straight is more generally accepted. That being said, the vast majority of native women are lesbian. Some cities are almost exclusively lesbian, and have been so for centuries. Women still struggle for more social recognition, since they make up only 5% of Enatai's population (a generous estimate, it must be said), and have government support on this, but only time will tell how much traction they'll gain as a group. It's been said that they're a culture within a culture; female Enataians tend to share their culture among themselves, and though there's areas of considerable overlap--they still consider themselves Enataian and fought for their rights and country just as men did--there is a distinct divide, not just culturally but even geographically, since many of their communities are along the coast and the mountains closest to them, while rural communities in Enatai's dense Southern forests and especially along its strikingly isolated Western mountain ranges are almost exclusively male.

Interestingly, this actually means that Enatai has almost no crime against women, mostly because there simply aren't very many of them. The average rate of rape against women by men specifically in Enatai is something like perhaps one in fifty thousand each year, sometimes even less. The country's unique sexual dynamics make it an odd mix of sometimes rather cold towards women, yet also remarkably safe.

Gandoor would be a 4.5 on the scale. Women in Gandoor are given the exact same rights and are considered equal to men and there are strict anti-discrimination laws in place that prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex (as well as race, religion, political views, sexual orientation, and gender identity). In addition, crimes of any sort committed against women are rare (for instance, there have been merely 23 instances of a woman being raped over the past 15 years in Gandoor), primarily due to the virtual lack of crime in Gandoor as a whole.

Numerically though, we'd be about a 4.5. There is a very small amount of sexism in the UNE, but it is quite minimal in the common culture.

Other cultures may be much worse, though. For example, Altanian immigrants are fairly patriarchal, due to the patriarchal nature of the Altanian Empire from which they hail.

Alizeria is probably about a 3.5 on your scale. Women are legally equal to men, and in urban areas can expect to be treated equally, however in rural areas more traditional roles tend to apply and in particular promiscuity is frowned upon.

4.

Sexism is seen as a sign of ignorance and lechery a social disgrace, it is not exactly illegal to proclaim the inferiority of women but it will get you ostracised fairly quickly. Physical harassment is vigilantly combated, carrying large fines and alternatively corporal punishment of caning.

4. Our country started off as a Oligarchy in 1368. Citizens, however, were not all too happy with this new government, and switched to a form of democratic republic in 1413 after a few violent protests. By then, there were so many female scientists, philosophers, business owners, ect. that a very large stink would be made if women didn't have equal opportunities, and they were granted suffrage along with men. Although there were very few political or social holdbacks for females, there has always been a small amount of sexism in Chloradian society. It faded away, and was mainly gone by 1756.

Women are treated with the same rights and freedoms as any male in Ravania. They are conscripted, and once that is over, they are entitled to the free education as with any citizen of the Imperium. What they then do with their lives is up to them, so long as it stands within the laws set forth by the Imperium. There have even been a number of female Emperors since the birth of the nation. One's gender plays no role in how one can Live, Lead, or Serve.

4. Kuzalesum is a progressive country with a strong history of women's suffrage and women's rights in general. The population, both male and female, have always been quick to advocate for the rights of females when they felt they were not met. There is gender "equilibrium" in Kuzalesum, without doubt.
