No one is saying carry a machete rather than more ammo, rather you can carry both.

What is with your obsession with swords and blades, anyway? Something of the Freudian persuasion?

So I never really got a good answer or critique last time I asked for people to look at the innawoods thingy I made for my troopers. Eternally ashamed of my 'art' and purged it all from my computer.

Soo anyway as a starter here's Trench and Tunnel Reconnaissance the informal name is Trent Rat.

I see that the super-shorty shotgun is on the belt slot. Do they carry it on their belt? Do they have some sort of specialized leg-holster?

Also, It's probably just the program, but did you intentionally put the sapper-axe and the e-tool on-top one another? Is it some sort of horrifying axe-shovel combination?

Yet on another note, why does he carry extra clips, as well as magazines? Does he also have an older bolt-action rifle that he needs those for?

Sorry, I'm not trying to sound overly negative. I like the way he looks, and the idea of trenches and tunnels being utilized to the point of requiring their own MOS in the modern setting is a very interesting idea.

The short shotty is carried in a small chest holster on top of the magazine pouches.
It's a fairly small hand-axe with a small digging pick/hoe thingy.
It's not really a Galil but an ak/sks clone thing that extracts from the top. Each clip has as much ammunition as a regular 30 rd. magazine because of the pouch's slightly larger than the 2 magazines it normally carries can fit 3 stripper clips.

Kheyot wrote:You have a one shot disposable rocket launcher with additional ammunition.

Lol yeah. It's just supposed to be a reloadable 15mm rocket launcher.

Start over, and this time ask yourself; "What do I need to clear a tunnel?" Omit everything else. That's such a niche thing you shouldn't really have it as an MOS to begin with, but oh well.

So, they're more speed-loaders than clips? Wouldn't be more practical to carry more magazines in their place, and maybe carry one for when you need to reload on the field in a slightly quicker fashion?

Think Lee-Enfield. You have your specialist speedy magazine and most of your ammunition is in stripper clip form. In this case a troopers will receive extra ammunition in the form of 2 stripper clips and 1 magazine.

Bah, Battle Cry of Freedom is more American.

The Union forever! Hurrah, boys, hurrah!
Down with the traitors, up with the stars;
While we rally round the flag, boys, we rally once again,
Shouting the battle cry of freedom!

Quite an awkward thing for someone posting in a gun thread to say, really.

Orvius wrote:I've been fooling around in MSpaint and GIMP and have started to become decently proficient in applying camouflage patterns to lineart.

A friend of mine requested that I do a gear config chart for his nation's infantry, and I'm pretty pleased with what I've got so far (WIP!). He also requested that it be in Rhodesian Brushstroke, which was a bit difficult for find a high-quality pattern image for, but I think the end result payed off.

Working on his infantry has also given me more confidence to draw more of my own gear and apply it to the templates, as he has very spefiec gear requests for his line-art. The FLYYE Armor Chassis with shoulder-pads and crotch-pad, Bijan knee-pads and elbow pads, battle-belt, helmet and goggles, helmet visor, and throat-mic are all made to order, so to speak. It's been tiring to look up and duplicate all these specific pieces of gear, but it's definitely becoming a learning course in the process.

I made it to my friends specifications. We had a discussion, and he settled on camo patterned boots.

I think the idea was that it's the same process as Multicam, as Crye Precision can more easily print it on a larger variety of gear (don't ask me how that black-magic works). But, you do have a point. While Multicam patterned boots are around I hardly see them in use. It's mostly single-colored boots.

I'll reopen the discussion with him.

Lol that's basically me. But would artillery be part of a infantry discussion?

Yes.

Oh on the topic on mortars and artillery stuff would it be reasonable to have a 8 gauge pump shotgun to act as in close-range mortar support. Not expecting to use in direct fire but just a small group firing toward a general direction. I kinda got this idea from slugs and expressive bullets I saw for .223 ars and figured why not.
