Immortals-They are crippled soldiers recovered from the field hospital, usually those with no living relatives and have no more reason to live. All that remains of their former human bodies are the head, neck, and heart, with the machine providing the rest of his bodily needs. They use side mounted 8 mm machine guns that are laden with corrosive acid that melts through skin and cloth. There are only 40 Immortals that exist, usually seen guarding the home of the president. The pilot is fused to the machine much like what they did with Robocop. (Eh, thats not a mecha, its a prosthetic machine)Image

The rest of my ground vehicles are exactly as the same the German army.

If prosthetic, then it would belong in IDT.
But they would argue it's a mech too, so it should be in the mech thread.

I would argue it's substantially closer to power armour and therefore valid for IDT.
Even a light mech would be valid for IDT now that, officially, the thread has broadened.

Trucks and jeeps are valid in IDT, to me.

First of all, acid bullets. Please nyet comrade.

Second of all, that isn't a tank. At best it's an overgrown exoskeleton. Whatever it is, it really doesn't belong in a tank thread. If anything it belongs in the infantry or mech threads.

Thirdly, if you only have 20 of them, they're basically a non-entity in terms of combat, because they're little more than experimental/prototype units.

Finally, the rest of your army being the same as the Israeli army is almost certainly just ridiculous. The Israeli military situation is heavily defined by their unique geopolitical status. Simply mimicking their equipment is likely to result in most nations ending up with incredibly out of place and tactically disadvantageous hardware configurations.

About how much steel should a light tank/armored fighting vehicle have to be resistant to small arms fire and heavy machine guns? I want to create a light infantry support tank for traversing difficult terrain.
Also, what's a good km/L fuel efficiency for a reliable 12 cylinder diesel engine in such a light 'tank'?

20-30mm resistant to the front, 12.7-14.5mm to the sides.

Always have additional armor upgrades and whatever.

"Light" tanks won't typically have 12-cylinder engines, you would usually have very large-displacement 12-cylinder engines in MBTs or other heavy vehicles. Much lighter armoured vehicles may frequently have six or eight cylinder engines.

A plate about 25-35mm thick will stop close-range penetrations of the M2 .50 BMG cartridge, though at ranges of 1500m (where a light tank will probably be facing most of its threats), penetration is nearer 7mm.
Slight sloping would help, but if all you're going for is .50 protection that's surprisingly little. Of course today, threats such as 14.5mm machine guns and 20-40mm cannon are all valid threats against "light tanks", depending on what your "light tank is doing".

most tanks irl have about 30-50mm of steel on the side, which is sufficient

take a look at this monstrosity

As far as I know this thing is real, it's apperently jet engines strapped to an old tank body and modified to pump water to put out intense fires. Looking to share (might help generate ideas) and looking for a confirm if it's real.
