Just a question regards to if we do this northern continent exclusive to new members, I myself have no mutual or shared history with most any nation RP wise specific to my plot so given that I'm exclusively nordic could I possibly move up farther north of a new northern continent was created?

But on those parts, in the map I designed (which I'm going to be putting more effort into soon), there are plots there. New members probably won't take kindly to your claiming their land is yours.

Seriously though - I've been in a region (Ixnay) that had colonies and territories - things got messy, real fast. I don't think it's a good idea for Atlas, especially with it being a region with 80 nations, compared to Ixnay's 35 (at the time).

Exactly. Once one nation wants a colony, everyone else will want there own colony and it will turn into a nightmare. You can have a colony or autonomous region within your existing region, but not have one plot be your main territory and another plot be a colony.

and the island masses

(so do all of the continents seperately, in their own groups, and then do all the islands together.
