What did you base your nation on?

The SCP Foundation web project. Basically, Earth is invaded by mind-controlling aliens from another dimension, and the various Men In Black agencies from around the world are the last cohesive human resistance standing. They gather up the remaining heavily armed, extremely individualistic and strong-willed survivors and pool their resources to escape to an alternate Earth. There they built a new civilization, putting their hoarded paranormal artifacts and knowledge to work for the good of mankind, because protecting the world from the truth didn't work out all that well.

I wanted to create a very alien (in both senses of the word) culture that is still relatable from a human perspective. What came out were biotech-using, nudist, anarchist space-furries. In practice, it resembles a less sappy version of Pandora and the Na'vi from Avatar.

As for fiction, I took various inspiration from Warhammer 40k's Imperium of Man, the Cyrodiilic Empire from Skyrim, the Greater Korean Empire from Homefront, the Galactic Empire from Star Wars, the Terran Dominion from Starcraft, Halo's Covenant Empire and UNSC, and the Federation from Starship Troopers (the movies; the Federation from the book wasn't militaristic enough.)

Sort of based off the Commonwealth of Poland-Lithuania, with only the Polish parts and a slightly more feudal system, but with more modern laws.

Based it on the Serbian Ethnic territory, both Serbia, Republika Srpska, Montenegro and Republic of Serbian Krajina. Lead by Milorad Dodik.

The flag is actually based off Norway, whilst the nation's laws and constitution are based off of my political views. The name, currency, and capital are all from some comics i drew when i was a little kid.

The Royal Black Institution, an appendant order of the Orange Order.

I (initially) based my nation on the work of an artist, who created the name and the original version of it (which was centered around a large railway network). This was essentially a giant fan fiction country located on an island in the Pacific Ocean.

The next version retained the name of the previous, but drastically changed things by locating it on another planet, adding more species, and redesigning all military equipment. City and town names remained the same. This version is based off Israel somewhat: it was at war with many nations all trying to invade it.

The final (and current) version (aka "The Republic") is a renaming campaign. All city names have been changed, the surrounding geography has been reworked, industrial companies have been renamed. It retains the multiple species, flags, and location of its predecessor. The name is still being worked on.
This final version is based off Israel and Canada: it is a relatively peaceful and calm nation (somewhat like Canada) but it retains a highly skilled military with advanced technology(somewhat like Israel), and is surrounded by a few unfriendly neighbors.

Recipe for Esalonian Mango Float:

1 tbsp Future Tech sugar
2 Murica all-purpose cream
2 Philippines mangoes
Democracy Graham Crackers
1 tbsp Lyras military-grade high-glucose sugar
Philippines condensed milk

Mix the FT sugar, Lyras sugar, and Murica all-purpose cream and Philippines condensed milk in a bowl. After mixing to the right consistency, put a layer of Freedom Graham Crackers, pour the cream, and put pieces of Philippines mangoes. You should end up with 3 layers of crackers.
