Your Nation's Music Taste

Postby Unisheya » Sat Oct 18, 2014 5:02 pm

Of course you cannot speak for everyone, but what music does your nation listen to? What is popular among what age groups? What are singers' voices like? Et cetera..
Also, give an example of a song from outside your nation that would most likely be a hit in your country.
In Unisheya, music is usually upbeat, fun, and enjoyed by lots of different people. Instruments widely vary, although percussion is the most popular instrumental group. Male vocalists are usually mellow while females have a somewhat nasal quality. Unisheyan music is growing in worldwide popularity gradually.
Example of a song from outside Unisheya that is a big hit currently -

Most music preferred here is the deep Reblian Choir, known for playing on all forms of musical entertainment in the ASR.
We banned all Rock n' roll tracks after the potential crisis of a revolt.
Well, another one anyways.

From a very early age, Themiclesia developed a love for melodic performances, and music theory was quite advanced in the region for some time. The classical musical instrument in Themiclesia is the set bell, which, as suggested by the name, consists of a set of bells representing increments in the musical scale, and is capable of playing complex pieces. The typical set contains just three modern octaves, but those in the noble courts are known to have 5 octaves. The legendary set in the king's possession spans 7 octaves.

Pipe organs are popular choices for major assembly halls or sports facilities.

Classical is the predominant musical genre enjoyed in the Republic, followed pretty close behind by Ragtime.

Rock, pop, and classical are popular genres. Most people have a 'refined' taste in music and nostalgic music is preferred over modern music.

Classical music is the dominant favourite of the majority.

Some also prefer Country as influenced by our neighbours the US hundreds of years back.

The Ovetenses prefer calm folk music, which due our Celtic heritage involve bagpipes and such. However, there has been a rise on Celtic punk, and electronic music.

1960s, 70s, and 80s music is popular, as well as some modern pop music. There are a whole range of species that sing. Dragons generally knock down everything in their path, and are great for live concerts, while ponies have nice, pleasant, sometimes magical voices. Humans are a little more gravelly, but okay-sounding.

Classical, choral and operatic works are the only ones considered "proper" music in Melvonia, and they are enjoyed with great passion and considerable connoisseurship by the population at large. Other kinds are occasionally played, but usually out of ethnographic curiosity rather than any genuine appreciation for any form of modern music. All types of 'rock' and 'pop', in particular, are considered hopelessly juvenile, and adults would be embarrassed to admit to knowing, let alone liking, anything about them.
