Saluting is highly uncommon among the civilian populace of the Dominion, but when wants to convey great respect without language that can be mistaken, you place your right fist over your heart and bow very slightly.

The military salute is identical to the US Army salute. Saluting superior officers can only be forgone in combat situations, to prevent enemy snipers from recognizing the command structure easily.

Not very, nor is it as classy, if you want my view. Lamington's soldiers just use the Anglo-American salute, developed from the days when a knight would reveal his face when meeting somebody on the road.

Having a nation primarily of turtles and mushrooms makes saluting in the Republic complex.

• In the turtle population, a "salute" is considered to be raising one's neck as high as possible and looking the person receiving the salute in the eyes. This is used by the military.
  
• Mushrooms lack hands or feet, and have major trouble bending. Their "salute" is to bow and say "we salute you" to the receiver, followed by their full rank/title and full name, whilst bowing. For instance, "we salute you, Chancellor Marvin Weirdidea, Head Turtle of the Republic of TurtleShroom!". Only when they finish addressing the other may they raise back up.This is used by the military and by civillians; they have no other way of doing so.
  
• Humans perform the traditional American salute, but they also put their left arm behind their back at their waistline, horizontally. This is only used by the military. Civillians put their left arm behind their back at their waistline, horizontally, and lower their heads down a bit. The military salute was brought to TurtleShroom by the humans andwholly accepted, the while civillian one has religious ties (prayer often involves looking down). The left arm thing started as a simple courtesy of the other species. Turtles walk on all fours and mushrooms lack limbs or internal organs. Putting your left arm behind you back like that is simply a respect to the other creatures, who don't have the same freedom of appendages as humans.

In the military, a lower ranking officer always salutes to the higher rank before speaking. The higher one responds with the same salute, normally coupled with a smile. Then, they converse.

Though not mandated, it is customary for civillians to salute to a flying battleship when it hovers by them. Yes, we have flying battleships. The military are required to do it.


It is considered very respectful to salute to the Chancellors if they pass by or speak to someone. It isn't mandated, though.

However, in a seated event (like a ballgame or meeting) when the Chancellor starts moving (in the case of Fugusamongus Lamepun, the mushroom) or stands up (in the case of Marvin Weirdidea, the turtle), it is respectful for all of the turtles and humans in the room to stand up along with him. The mushrooms should keep quiet when a Chancellor gets moving. If it's Fungusamongus, everyone can sit down once he leaves. If it's Marvin, everyone can sit down after a twenty second period passes (turtles are SLOW).
