Does your nation have a comprehensive public broadcasting service?
Yes, the Montesardi Public Television Service (Channel 9) , coordinated and operated by the Ministry of Communications are publicly funded broadcasters, also funded by donations.

Does your nation levy a television licence to fund public broadcasters?
No, there is no need to do so. All funding to Channel 9 comes from tax payer bits and from donations from national companies.

Public Broadcasting in Damukuni

Postby Damukuni » Tue Dec 09, 2014 10:55 pm

Television and video equipment in Damukuni is regulated by the Damukunian Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (DATAS). The original Holy Empire originally used PAL video and planned to transition to DVB-T digital television, but the January 31 Revolution saw a change with the creation of DATAS. Damukuni now uses the ATSC digital television standard. Analog video signals are not used for national public broadcasting, but the growing amateur television ("ham TV") community uses PAL analog video.

Damukunian television station operators are required to purchase a license to broadcast nationally, including government-funded television such as DPBS (Damukuni's version of the American PBS). Call signs are issued by the DATAS, are 5 letters long, and start with the letters G (national broadcasting) or S (local cable), such as GCNND-TV (CNN Damukuni) or SFOXA-TV (FOX 4, Atarashii-Damushuto).

All broadcasting stations in Nationale Einheit require the appropriate licenses approved by the Ministry of Information. The largest network is Cover Story News, which is a far-right national news network that supports and is supported by the government.

Most of the media in the FSAJ is public and government owned, though they do speak a lot more than expected.
The only one of its kind, the private-owned Tunis Advancement News Agency, is focused on technological advancement and undergoing research projects. Their founders were Technocrat party members (Now abolished) who were supported by the Belgrade Star Bio-technology Co., a bioweapon producer and researcher in the private sector. The TANA is the 3rd largest media group in the FSAJ, the 2nd being Tripoli Miscellaneous Broadcasts and the 1st being Glorious Path of the Revolution, both public media.

The state holds a monopoly over all public broadcasts as a way to make sure everyone is on-board with the government ideas and no wannabe dissidents get a chance to sow discontent among the masses. Private initiatives are, of course, welcome, but will still have to be approved by Ministry of Culture and carried out under the auspices of state broadcast enterprises.
Freedom doesn't mean being able to do as one please, but rather not to do as one doesn't please.

Does your nation have a comprehensive public broadcasting service?

Yes. ATV is owned by the government and the Minister of Broadcasting is the nominal head of the board.

Does your nation levy a television licence to fund public broadcasters?

No. ATV used to be government funded but has since moved to a commercial model in which it must rely on advertising, etc as would any commercial the network. The only difference is that the government receives the dividends.

Does your nation have a comprehensive public broadcasting service?
We have an extensive datanet service that is available to the public , and there are two connection plans.
Firstly there is the basic plan that is free but it is slightly slower and doesn't have access to various premium services such as view on demand media, the only media available on this plan is access to various media streaming services which operate on a timetable of what they broadcast. basic plan subscribers can also view media on demand from user generated source sites such as "neko neko doki" (Similar to RL YouTube), but the quality of the media on these sites is limited by the fact that most of it is recorded on consumer level equipment by amateurs.

Secondly there is the premium plan which operates at full speed and has access to all the view on demand sites as well as the services offered in the basic plan. This service costs 30 cr a month and most people upgrade to it.

Does your nation levy a television licence to fund public broadcasters?
The subscription fees go towards funding media companies and are supplemented by advertizing funds from major companies who pay for ads on the datanet. The official government media outlets are also funded by the ministry of arts and media using taxes but they are ad free.

Does your nation have a comprehensive public broadcasting service?
Yes, the Atlanticatian Public Media Authority, an independent publicly funded body, operates 7 public broadcasters:
- Atlanticatia State Broadcaster (ASB):
- Atlanticatian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC)
- Atlanticatia Public Radio (APR)
- Atlanticatian Radio Service (ARS)
- ABC Two
- ABC Three
- Parliament Broadcasting Service (PBS)

Each public broadcaster provides different types of content, with a minimum of 40% of content being sourced from Atlanticatia. The content is independent.

Does your nation levy a television licence to fund public broadcasters?
The Atlanticatian Public Media Authority is independent from the government of the day, and it is publicly funded, so it remains independent from politics. It distributes funds to the 7 broadcasters. The sources of funds are as follows:
- Grants from central government (60%) - funded by general taxation.
- Television Sales Tax (25%) - a 10% sales tax is placed on all televisions sold, and revenues go to the APMA.
- Public Media Surcharge (15%) - a $3 surcharge placed on all bills for private television (for example, a $3 surcharge is added to cable and satellite bills); revenues go to the APMA.

The budget of the Atlanticatian Public Media Authority is about $8 billion per annum.

Television licences in Minoa directly fund the domestic services of the public broadcaster RTM. It is legal to pay the licence fee on behalf of another household who owns a TV, by mutual arrangement. There are discounts for the disabled (even for the learning disabled too), and it is free when the owner of the house is 75 or over.

Licence enforcement relies on public tip-offs, rather than vans that detect signals: it's like how people shop-out their rivals for having an out-of-date tax disc!

All the media in the nation of Kannap is controlled by the government. The government-run Kannapian News Network (KNN) spreads the news that the government wishes and distributes all other forms of media: Newspapers, magazines, music, movies, and internet.
