I am not sure how much the guard would interfere with two handed technique. It might. But I really can't tell.

The only thing that really could is the quillon, but it's the same length as on many messers.

Is only difference between a Messer and a Sabre is that the latter is Two handed?

The guard evolved into those of early-modern sabres (the nail become longer and longer and the quillions became more and more curved until the basket hilt was a thing), the blades of sabres never really got as long or as heavy as the longest messers, the tang of messers where usually full unlike most swords which had rat-tail or push tangs, and the fighting styles changed completely.

The ONLY objection i have for this MG3 is that it is in Tan. A Proper German Machine gun should be in Black or grey.

Also found a Luger-based submachine gun:

Prototype 1919 Furrer submachine gun (photo courtesy NFC “Pattern Room”, Leeds, UK)

We have had very little success finding information on this submachine gun – there appears to be very little written about it in English. What we do know is that it is based around a Luger slide and toggle that are pretty much unmodified. The action is rotated 90 degrees to feed from the right and eject out the left, and the lower frame of the pistol has been replaced by a bulkier frame to support a stock and large magazine (most likely 30 or 40 rounds of 7.65 Luger). The barrel still reciprocates back like a Luger, and the muzzle has a gas booster built in to help accelerate the longer and heavier barrel backwards (much like a Maxim or Vickers).
