Tips are not mandatory, and if a company actually forces tips, and adds them to bills or takes them money anyways out of their accounts(ie use the person's credit card or such to put tip into their account) then it will actually be considered theft.

However, we do not say it is mandatory or not, due to if we said "hey, you don't have to pay tips to waiters" then no one would pay tips, and they need a source of income, so we kinda just keep our mouths shut on the matter.

So all in all, a TIP(see what i did there) to waiters and waitresses in our lands; have people skills, be nice, and do your job right, and then people will leave tips!
If you are bad at your job and bad with people, chances are they will not leave you a tip.
