What was the greatest disaster to ever happen to your nation? A plague? A natural disaster? A war? Famine?

Well, Single post OP, what's the worst thing that happened in your nation?

In Rephesus, it was probably the Unification wars, spanned 200 years and resulted in the deaths of nearly every non-ethnic Rephite in the Agoras peninsula, and over the course of these years Rephesus was found by Alkharanians who carried disgusting foreign diseases, which really didn't help because y'know, black death.

So far there hasn't been a big disaster in our nation. But if the biggest disaster that happened to our nation counts, probably the sinking of 5 warships and shooting down of 5 transport planes in one day (each ship carrying 500 sailors and each plane 30). Only one survivor.

Insurrection of Dragonia Re. It's still very painful to talk about. :( But.... some wounds must be reopened to remind us of both our failures and how lucky we are to survive.

The Insurrection of Dragonia Re started on January 18 and ended on February 7. It was a short but devastating war: Military analysts compare the slaughter to the Holocaust. The reason was simple; only 1 in 20 dragons managed to escape Dragonia Re alive. It gets worse, though. The human-supremacists who were behind the Dragonia Genocide (as it's now called) used ALL methods to clear us out of the region; Nero-toxins, nerve agents, conventional weapons, and even nuclear weapons (to a degree). At least half of the former region is now barren because of humanity's scorched earth tactics. Our previous leader, Grevok, was one of the casualties, using himself as a shield to protect a group of civilians from a mortar round. To this day, we still grieve and are still in pain from those dreadful 2 weeks. It's doubtful that we will ever return to our former glory. *bows head in shame*

The Xinhai Revolution was the greatest man-made disaster to befall the Empire of the Great Qing.

The greatest natural disaster is harder to pinpoint, many have been devastating to the Chinese nation and peoples and as we are an ancient land, that list is very long indeed.

The Worst thing to ever befall my nation was The Sumovian Civil War of the 1940s. It began when several provinces tried to secede in our Northeast. It killed about 10,000 people, 5,000 on the rebel side and on our military. It ended when our military troops stormed the largest city in that portion of the country. They then surrendered and peace and order was restored after several years of fighting.

Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in 2013. Next would be the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991 and then the deadliest one being the 2033 magnitude 7.6 Manila big one which killed more than 20,000 people creating a massive humanitarian crisis in Metro Manila that was resolved only by the following year.

Conspiracy theories all blame the American HAARP program.

The CMA Chemical Spill, when a chemical tanker carrying 34,000 tonnes of chemicals from China collided with another ship, releasing the chemicals into the sea a few kilometres from the port of Marseille. As well as affecting the drinking water supplies, the spill devastated the fishing industry of Marseille and the surrounding areas, as well as hurting tourism as the beaches around the area needed to be closed. The Provencal Government spent about €200 Million on cleanup, although the wider cost to the economy is estimated to be anywhere from €800 Million to €1 Billion.
