Is your nation based on your views and beliefs?

Postby New Sivonia » Wed May 21, 2014 5:03 pm

To what degree does your nation reflect your own views? Sivonia represents my views, which is why it has many liberal policies, is extremely tolerant of other cultures and religions, and most of the population is Jewish atheist.

No, my nation occasionally gives voice to my frustrations, and serves as a slight parody in a sort of reflective manner, but mostly it's just a thought experiment on what an anachronistic, personal empire of the type seen mostly in the ancient world, would look like in modern times.

When I make a nation I usually build it with an idea in mind to see where it goes. For example I'll make a country as capitalist as possible, or make a country based off of a fictional country to see how it would do. Then I see how that nation develops.

To an extent, yes. At least that's the case for this one. For most of my nations, I tend to take some oddball idea and run with it.

Partially. When I vote on issues, it's usually in favor of my actual views and politics.

When I RP, though, I prefer having a more balanced nation. Still left-leaning, but with a definite tinge of corruption, subversive elements, and a bit of oppression. Just a tiny bit.

In some ways, yes The Lunar Domain is based on my beliefs, and other ways it isn't. For instance, I entirely agree with the notion in The Domain that the elected officials are the servants of the people, and aren't wasting time doing what US politicians do by attending parties, instead holding session during a regular business day.

In other ways it isn't, because The Lunar Domain supports, and I disagree with this thoroughly, that all citizens who have not been convicted of a violent or similar crime can bear weapons that are below the grade the military uses. I do not believe that a person should be able to have, for example, and M16A1 just because there is a newer model used by the military.

At one point it would have been, but my views have shifted in recent times. It's still a reflection of my views when I'm being pragmatic (as opposed to idealistic). It's what a country would look like if I were to have my way as Prime Minister/President (as opposed to if I were God).

Eh. Yes and no.

If all of mankind were to somehow be united under one banner, this would be close to (what I view as) ideal as it would help mankind remain unified, and could potentially be the one state to last until the end of time. People would be rewarded for their merit, not for their birth. People would work for the good of the whole, and all would be well. It also can properly enforce its rules by repurposing those who disturb the balance. If they will not willingly help for the greater good, they will be used for the greater good in ways that will make Mengele flinch.

However, since I highly doubt that mankind will ever be united, my realistic views for an ideal nation are much, much different. For this case, I would say it's closest to regulated capitalism. Not at all like authoritarian regime of Nekronia.

So, in the realistic sense, no, not at all.

HELL TO THE NO.

In its current form, it is based upon and inspired by a multitude of things: the current political situation in East Asia, the nature of the pseudo-socialist governments there, the amount of nationalist xenophobia/racism prevalent with a number of East Asians, propaganda machines, genetic defects, North Korea's Juche, Democratic Koyro's Ohankaism, etc.

In short, I try my best to implement as many things I despise as possible into the background of the fictional continent of Lesrenadia.

(Don't ask, it's based on Papers, Please.)

It might as well not have from day 1.

When I first came to NationStates, I knew nothing about politics. So handily, the first incarnation is that of a socially conservative democratic socialist federal republic... thing. Then, I started slowly adapting myself to the premise that politics exists, and hence, it slowly grew into a de jure theocratic absolute monarchy.

While I do support a wise and benevolent despot of sorts, I am not a monarchist. Test results have shown time and time again that I am a Cosmopolitan (aka not Nationalist) and Social Democrat (which I might have accepted had I not promised myself to be ideologically neutral).

That said, I am still enamored to this fictional, fantastic regime - a random amalgamation of pretty much everything I like or find gloriously grandiose.

Not at all. It's based off a combination between Ireland and New Zealand, being countries I have lived in, but it's definitely a work of fiction. A country based off my own views would be the most boring country ever.
