Many citizens celebrate it by attending fancy masqurade balls, beach bonfires, and watching the firework show over the Vitrea de Valle River. Our national holiday goes by two names: Coup Day or Dictatorship Day, 20 March, where we brought down a corrupt, incompetent Democratic Republic without the slightest interest in caring for its people after a three year long, bloody Civil War. We celebrate in with fairs, fireworks, and cookout. Restaurants typically serve food at half cost on Coup Day, and/or they serve holiday specials. Fairs almost always have jousting competitions, swordsmanship displays, and talent shows, to say the least. And finally, the fireworks displays are said to be the envy of the world, especially those at the Capitol City of Gallifrey where the fireworks go off so rapidly, they can even be turned into animation. Specifically, animation that depicts major battles, the Fall of Washington, and the crowning of the Tsar.

March 25th, celebrating both the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary (we are THE birthplace of Christianity, after all), and the day Huswa Varanken completed his unification of the 80-some states that once made up Luziyca in 1863 (it was done from 1860-1863). Varanken timed the downfall of Bethlehem to fall on the Immaculate Conception, but contrary to popular, it wasn't fully united until 1868 (an Iglesian-dominated Kingdom had a treaty signed in 1860 keeping its independence but largely reduced in Kashira, but in 1868 was overthrown in a revolution by the peasants who sent the royals packing to Iglesiantis) when Kashira joined Luziyca.

July 22nd, "St. Jeff's Day".

St. Jeff's Day has been a religious holiday on par with Christmas and Easter in Alizeria since the 13th century and celebrates St. Jeff (who according to the Church of Alizeria was the younger brother of Jesus Christ), the Patron Saint of Alizeria. It has come to be accepted since as being Alizeria's "national day" and since the late 20th century has been less about religion and more about national pride.

It is not believed that July 22nd had anything to do with Saint Jeff himself, although July 22nd 1198AD was the date that the Church of Alizeria was founded and that Alizeria officially converted to Christianity.

December 9th, "Independence Day" is also a national holiday marking Alizeria's independence from the Cornellian Empire in 1868. Despite being blatantly a national day, it has not had as large a cultural impact in Alizeria as St. Jeff's Day has.
