Arkolon Foreign Policy Institute
____________________________________________________________
The Arkolon Foreign Policy Institute is a think-tank based in Kenswick, Arkolon. AFPI primarily provides research on countries around the globe, and advises members of the Arkolon legislative houses. On the odd occasion, the AFPI prints an open letter, or a lengthy article, in the Arkolon Chronicle. Founded in 1974 by Arkolon-German economist Lukas Sander and his colleague-and-friend Peter "Pete" Cheswick, the AFPI was used to get Sander-Cheswick ideas across to the political world. AFPI developed to hire over 300 researchers around the globe, and has been called "the number one source for international information and statistics" by critics.
AFPI provides information and indices on countries around the NationStates universe now. Previously, AFPI only offered its Freedom and Development Index in June-July 2013, yet now it comes back with a revised FDI, a NCI and has teamed up with the Kenswick Stock Exchange to trade currencies and stocks on a sophisticated grand scale.
Freedom and Development Index
The FDI was coined in June-July 2013 at the Arkolon Foreign Policy Institute by Daniel van Vroos, a Dutch economist-analyst. It takes into account the general development of humans in the country as well as how free the country is for civil and political rights.
National Comparison Index
The NCI is a less prominent index that is far older than the FDI. It is said to have been discovered by Lukas Sander himself, yet no one is quite sure. "It was most probably a product of teamwork", said Lukas Sander in a 1996 interview. The NCI compares any given nation to the nation of Arkolon itself, providing a final index which Sander called "Arkolons", even though it has evolved to lose its units and now acts as an index on its own. Previously, only Arkolon could be compared to, but any selected nation can be compared to any other nation using the NCI formulae.
Dossier
The Dossier, provided by AFPI's international watchdog branch, is an open letter directed at certain subscribed nations. Both criticised and praised for its liberal and pro-economy bias, the Dossier exclaims the common opinions of the AFPI analysts. Usually printed after a certain event or passed legislation, the Dossier has been described as a valid point-making paper.

Exchange Rates
In 2013, AFPI teamed up with the Kenswick Stock Exchange (soon open to all) to provide information such as currency exchange rates and the changes in the price of certain equity. OOCly put, if you don't RP with your actual nation's stats (and as such NSEconomy is useless) I'll do the maths for you to work out your currency exchange rate. For equity prices, you will have to apply in the Kenswick Stock Exchange thread which will not only contain pretty images, but a large array of stocks to trade.
