I've always used the special "invisible character" I found, placed before the first url code piece. You can copy it from this example.

Another option is to use the [.tab] tags like so:

Code: Select all
[tab=20][/tab] 3.1 History

Yeah, I do this whenever I need a large space in factbooks and forum posts. It's also how I get the two-column effect from WIkipedia info boxes.

Another question
How could I put Images in a box on the side of a table? sorta like this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_People's_Air_Force#Inventory

Also, see how above each section it says "Combat Aircraft", 'Transport, etc? How would I be able to replecate that? As in put a title in a single row above the table?

cheers in advance

For the first question, if you mean those images that are aligned to the right of that wikipedia page, you use the code below (while filling in the relevant spaces). If you want the images to stay on the left side of the factbook, change "floatright" to "floatleft".

Code: Select all
[floatright][box]
(Subtitle here) [/box][/floatright]

Not sure about how to go about doing the things described in the second question though.

On the gameside factbooks, it's not as easy to replicate Wikipedia as it is on the forums.

Here are three different ways I tried to get the same look.

The first is basic but the picture ends up on top or below the table instead of next to it. (table + floatright on image)

The second gets the image to float next to the table, but the table is really compacted. (floatleft on table + floatright on image)
You need to stick a [tab] (here I did [tab=100]) before and after the "Aircraft" cell so that the "Combat Aircraft" line fits on one line.

The third is a bit perfectionist, but here you can get the table to be as wide as you want. This time you use the [tab] before and after the text in the first row of cells, and use whatever number (I used 100 for the Aircraft and 50 for everything else) to get the table as wide as you'd like.

Here's the code, so you can either copy/paste or replicate what I've done

I centered each of the cells in the top row for the second example; you don't have to do it if you don't want to.

Hope this helps!

Hey, firstly I would like to thank you for doing this it looks really cool!

A question though, how did you get borders around your largest cities pictures? And what size (pixel wise) did you use to fit your four photos?

Thanks again for doing this in the first place, my factbook is actually starting to look nice! Lol

He started a new table for the pictures, because in factbooks, the first row is always shaded like that. After adding in the pictures, it makes it look like there's a border. As for the pictures they look around 200-240 pixels wide.

Thank you very much for your clear guide to a wiki-style factbook. It has been very useful to me. I have now made my own wiki-style factbook, and it looks much nicer than all those loose bits and ends that you get when you put everything in separate articles.

Is it possible to make a wiki-styled list of rulers, with a frame, like in this random example? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_rulers_of_Duklja

If you're talking about a table, then here's an example:
Code: Select all

ReignMonarch

1450-1499King Arthur I

1499-1536King Albert XX

1537-1588King Harold II

Would give:
ReignMonarch
1450-1499King Arthur I
1499-1536King Albert XX
1537-1588King Harold II
adds rows and adds columns.

Thank you! :) Does it work to put in images in there too? Is it so simple as to put [img] between ?

Absolutely, images, links, you can simply put regular code in there.

I suppose you could add a little more information about each of them, describing any of their accomplishments or historical events during their tenure. You could also talk about their backgrounds and how they came to power.

The first one does seem oversized, I think the Queen Victoria I picture is about the right height & width
