This is mine, which is coming along very nicely, if anyone would like to take a look at it.

You're welcome! Your factbook looks great, too, for a WIP (like mine is).

(in case anyone is confused, Daskoxian is my puppet that I used to be more active on for RP, but recently I've been focusing more on my main nation for RP)

This is my provisionally complete Core Factbook

https://www.nationstates.net/nation=pos ... ok/id=1394

It isn't quite finished (nor will it ever be), but I will not however be adding significant portions to the factbook due to the fact that I have hit the character count limit.

What limit?

You get an image of your nation and then save it to your computer. Go to a photo hosting website like TinyPic or Photobucket. On TinyPic (don't know about Photobucket), you will see a button which says 'Browse'. Click it. You will need to find your image and open it. Then select the size of the image (I think I chose either 'Website/email' or 'Message board'. You can experiment to see which size is good for your factbook. Then click 'Upload now'. You will get several URLs for your image. I believe you need to copy the 'Forum' URL and paste it into your factbook. And voilà!

Hope that helped.

What limit?

The massive factbook character limit, which he has hit by including a massive amount of information.

@Post War America: maybe you can make each (or just a select few) categories more like a short description, and elaborate on it in a separate factbook that would be linked just under the heading?

For example in Wikipedia there would be a link that says: Main article: [link] just under the section heading.

There's a factbook character limit? How much is it?

After some testing, it seems that there is no character limit, but there is an upload size limit. Not exactly sure how it works, but making a new line/hitting "Enter" counts as more than adding another character to an existing line. Using Post war America's factbook as a template, it would be around 91160 characters. If you don't bother making new lines, it could be quite a bit greater.

I have considered that, but linkage was part of the reason for my complexity, trying to get some workarounds to that problem.

That's the US policy for diplomatic immunity, meant as a guide and is not meant to be used as a template.

If you're making your own version, you can just hit the quote button and copy the table formatting.

Ponderosa, thank you so much for making this thread. It's been a major help. I'm currently working on a wiki style factbook. It's incomplete, but any constructive criticism and comments would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest that you use the [float] tool to allow text to wrap around images, and make it look more professional.

Do try to mix it up though, given your appearing high picture to text ratio, so instead of all having it on one side break it up a bit.

As an example you could use the

floatleft tool
to float left. That tool is available through this code.
Code: Select all
[floatleft][/floatleft]
.

Or you could also center align a picture if you've got a bar of three to create a row of pictures.

The largest cities list would look nicer if they were in a table format rather than a list; it probably would be easier to read as well. Overall it looks like you have a very promising start :)

I have a template with that, you can just copy and paste the relevant parts.
