Oale buttdevastated a raging xeno/homophobe in the Ukraine thread. Mods overreacted and DEAT'd him :/

The Corparation wrote:1) First off as Estovina said, this is hardly a serious design,

Well duh.
But yeah, I know what you mean. I was trying to make it a bit more lighthearted.
The Corparation wrote:2) Reactor is shown as spherical primarily because that's the way the CL-1201 Diagrams I've seen have show it's reactor, and there's other airborne reactor designs I've seen that have a spherical shaped core.

Admittedly, my expertise is PWRs. Anything else is... eh. I can figure stuff out, but I've been corrected by NSers before.

I still maintain that spherical chickens reactors are stupid. They just look stupid, with all their Hollywood sphericalness. If nothing else they should be an oblate spheroid. I generally just cringe when I see a spherical reactor because it makes me think of people thinking reactors are just this big hollow ball of magical-technoblah. Or the reactor from X-Men: First Class.
Which literally happened when I was on watch, literally not two hours ago. Shaft-Alley Patrol watch came in and started asking if we flooded the reactor when we shut down. The Log Recorder and I were like "Dude, we always keep that thing flooded. If it's not it's like really freaking bad, man." And I got to relive my first day of Power School as we gave him the rundown on how reactors work. No, he's not a Nuke, obviously.

The Corparation wrote:4) With regards to the space the other systems take up, I've allocated roughly the same amount of space as the CL-1201 has. Although I may lengthen the reactor compartment a tiny bit.

Trying to find schematics of the CL-1201. Needless to say, it looks silly. The reactor compartment size is fine, it's everything else everyone always forgets about. All of the equipment you need to be able to service in the air when the reactor is critical. Like pretty much all electronics, which tend to not operate well inside of the lolhotasballs reactor compartment.
The Corparation wrote:5) 3 Month Airtime is actually the expected max endurance I was going for. I mainly put Unlimited because as mentioned previously NS-Lol design pretty much requires it.

Right. I just start getting eye-twitchy when people say "Nooclur Raptor = UNLIMITED."
If you want a longer flight time, go with two smaller reactors. You can extend the systems further out into the wings, if needed. One-reactor operations would be limited to low-altitude operations and very slow speeds, but it'd be in case of emergency. On the other hand, I'd suggest at least an emergency fuel-reserve if you maintain one reactor.
The Corparation wrote:6) Reactor coolant system is liquid metal which in turn transfers the heat to the air in the engines, On the ground I figured I'd be able to hook the metal coolant loop to a shitload of external equipment to cool the reactor pre and post-flight (Via the magic of NS-Handwavium). I wasn't expecting a turnaround short of a a couple weeks at any rate, so requiring all that extra equipment isn't unexpected

Liquid metal reactors is where my knowledge gets a little sketchy. I know the basics, obviously.
On the NS Draftroom I have a work-in-progress for Naval Reactor suggested considerations, and Liquid Metal Reactors are one of the ones that would be feasible. This is a case where you do NOT want a PWR, BWR, or SCWR. A liquid metal reactor IS probably the best idea, or something of a design that doesn't involve a water-level requirement.

I made a silly thing. Forgot to prune away the empty space, though.

Also not sure why I added the foregrip.

@Advaria: I suggest moving the forward sight closer to the end of the barrel. It will help improve accuracy.
The farther apart sights are, the more accurate you'll be - generally speaking.

Pro-tip: Ironsights four inches apart is a bad idea.
Do not assume I may have tried this. That would be silly. I would never try such a silly thing. >.>

I have, on many occasions, very much considered getting shirts for my fellow 1 Plant Reactor Operators of a stick figure riding a velociraptor with the tag "Raptor Operator." Whenever I'm especially worried about something the Reactor is doing or I notice something that's caught me by surprise, I stroke my panel and whisper "Clever girl..."
We regularly do verbatim repeat-backs with quickly saying "Raptor Operator, Aye."
Only one watch officer has caught me saying it. Everyone else just assumes I'm saying "reactor."

For similar antics, Two Plant's Reactor is the "Tractor." Or at least all one plant operators claim it is.

WIP PMT tank with rail canon. Started by throwing together a Leopard, Abrams, and Challenger, then slowly sculpting them all down to this shape.

And I'm a noob in PMT. If it looks like I don't know what I'm doing...then i don't know what I'm doing.

Might want some kind of RWS mount though, unless it's there but folded away.

RWS? I feel like I should know that, but I can't remember.

I agree that it looks like a Crusader. The chasis was longer, and it looked just like one, so I shortened it.

Remote Weapons System, a miniturret with a secondary weapon or two (usually light autocannons or MGs), controlled from inside the vehicle. On modern AFVs they're replacing commander's guns that require the user to open the hatch and stand up to use them.
