If so, what do they wear? Varies widely (depending on region/climate/parents); more often than not the "uniform" consists merely of a color scheme to be followed, although a few specify clothing type- a blue (unisex) shift, for example. (Colors have important symbolism in Fvaarniimar.) However, any school which does mandate a uniform is required to include indigo grayed to between 2/5 and 3/5 saturation- this is a reference to the branch of the government responsible for education. (Some schools may be permitted to use a higher saturation.) Shade (darkness/lightness) is variable.
Additionally, such color schemes legally cannot contain red (red-orange is iffy; pink, while uncommon, is fine), the uniforms in MT and later Fvaarniimar are typically unisex, and schools (including those which don't mandate a full uniform) often include some manner of identifying at the least a student's year, and more often than not first syllable of first and last names, all classes, etc. (A common means of doing this is inlaid (typically with colorful and durable but cheap material) bracelets (often rubidium or rhodium plated to resist corrosion; during early PMT students can opt in to having such bracelets contain ID microchips, and from late PMT on they can opt out of the same. (Another common means is the belt for the uniform; in this case a pattern easily adjusted to reflect change or in very cheap material indicates info.)) If uniform composition is completely mandated, down to the exact shade, hue, and style of at least one piece of clothing, the school must either provide half of the cost of said clothing OR provide a clean uniform (or just said clothing) which will be returned to the school. Schools receive a stipend for ID items, sufficient per student to plate one bracelet, buy safe base metal, and buy cheap inlay material; it's very common for schools to try to scrimp on this a little, making narrow bracelets (occasionally only sightly wider than bangles) and either asking students themselves to bring in inlay material or taking field trips to locales (eg seashores) where such can be found and turning students loose to find some.
