Most of qualitative agricultural land is located in the south Slovak and south Czech parts of republic, along the Danube river.

Despite its extent, it is one of landlocked countries, although the river danube is widely used to get to the sea.

Highest mountain is Stalin's peak in High Tatra mountains, having 2665 metres.

Natural resources include important uranium and coloured metal ores in east slovak part, and massive deposits of lignite and brown coal all over the state.



Economy:

Agriculture employs around 20 % of the workforce with remaining 40 % working in heavy industry, mining and construction 20% in light industry and engineering , 15% in various services incl. bureaucracy and 5% being army and security related.

Industry is fully collectivised, although small scale enterpreneurship is not banned,

Income tax rate is around 60-70% with income above a threshold of 5000 St being taxed by 85%

Currency is Stredoslovansky toliar (St) shortened to toliar (T) generally.
The exchange course is about 20 T to a dollar.

Unemployment rate is kept very near 0 by the state, as it guarantees jobs to every citizen, and voluntary unemployment without an objective reason constitutes the crime of parasitism.

Natural gas - 10% is locally produced, the rest imported through border with Ukraine.

main export are heavy vehicles (civilian and military), industrial machinery, concrete . wood products . and agricultural produce, although electronics is slowly increasing in importance

main imports are iron, zinc, aluminium ore ; gas and oil ; and although not the largest, microprocessors have yet to be imported from Bulgaria

OOC: i wanted it to be contentful, so it can be quite long and boring, as i need to remodell certain parts of WWII to make sense with the scenario.


1938 - munich agreement allows fascist germany to take over Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia.
President Benes agrees and declares a ceasefire despite the general staff suggesting otherwise.
This has led to an overturn in Czech lands, as army takes control of the govt. and with massive people support, fascists are met at the borders with full fire and determined resistance. As predicted by the germans, the attack wave is utterly destroyed.
Stalin sends a tank batallion to aid Czechoslovakia. Western states remain passive.

Spring 1939 -

Germany regroups, and attacks through austria and hungary, using the slovak's ruling HSLS party discontent with involvement of USSR in their defense, drawing them into a secret agreement in return for security both from soviets, czechs, and hungarians. The clero-fascists accept, and blitz through the slovak border. Most slovak soldiers are taken by surprise . Independant slovak state is declared at the same time

During the year german+allies forces attack and defeat polish forces, taking poland and encircling the czech part of czechoslovakia , attempting to take it from inside.
With the boost of resources from this surprising sucess, germany rapidly takes over france - it is only at this point that the western countries declare war. but as hitler is busy fighting resistance in poland and slovak soil and the rest of czech and soviet army , they are not eager to act.

The soviet union faces many problems in army leadership and logistics, not to mention problems in ukraine - as poland was entirely taken by germany, some ukrainians show pro-german tendencies and resistance against soviet govt. forms in some parts, which germans exploit, decreasing supply of food in the USSR.


1941 - The last city of Liberec falls, czech, western ukraine , poland are under german control, Slovak state is an ally. All the generality is in illegality, and repressions take place. With the new power base, estabilished hitler attacks in two directions , west finally responds.

(onwards, the war goes similar to the real course of events, except that the progress t o east is not as rapid since soviets are expecting attack and the west is not under such heavy assault either since G did not take central europe as rapidly, but eastern front is the important one in the history.).

1944 fall - due to reports of losses on eastern front in czech and slovak lands, an uprising occurs with help of soviet materials. Due to the coordination, use of hidden supplies prepared during fight earlier and a timing when most german forces are located to the east, it suceeds and eastern german forces are cut off.
Home traitors are shot and after yugoslavia it is the second land to liberate itself

1944 winter. Soviets break through poland and western ukraine and prop up czech and slovak army before it falls to germans trying to get to their forces.

January 1945 - germany signs peace agreement to other parties.

In division, czechoslovakia gets a part of polish, hungarian and austrian land, as well as getting to keep subcarpathian ukraine, as that is where they met with soviet forces.

February 1945
A new government is formed. It consists of mostly left wing, and made of war heros and communist party, but due to less ability of control from the USSR , nationalist communists rule the party under new president Vladimir Kamenicky, a member of the illegal slovak communist party, and plk. Josef Kotek, a general of the old army as the first minister. Nationalisation is carried out, but small scale private enterprise is left , and generally, the govt. keeps a slow, steady stance
The country is renamed to Central slavia since Czechs Moravians, Slovaks Ukranians Polish and Ruthenians have similar population percentages and it were national arguments which caused the fall of the country before. The sign representing the fires of partisans in the mountains is adopted to represent the state's birth.
Opposition either local or truly paid for by western forces is dealt with in an authoritarian fashion though.



1950s on - Due to ideological differences, the relations with USSR are shadowing and diplomatic relations with Jugoslavia and Romania are becoming greater. Due to cold war , no open conflicts happen because the west is prepared to exploit disunion between socialist states
