The Mercatorum have a mixture of attitudes.

While nudity in most circumstances is frowned upon, not for the least of reasons that if one is naked they are necessarily not in accordance with the high fashion standards of the Mercatorum. Should a man walk stark naked about in the streets, he would only illicit strange looks, not any legal action. Of course it is near universally legal for a people to remove said naked people from their private property or stores.

However if you went to the beach or to a public pool, nudity would be quite normal, as it is considered rather silly to the Mercatorum to wear clothes in the water.


As to public sex, it is likewise technically legal, but highly disapproved of culturally. Still it happens, and generally we don't make much of a fuss. As long as it is between married couples.

Have all the sex you want, wherever you want, as long as it is out of the way of the authorities (who will order you to move on), out of sight of those who will become offended and that you disinfect the area if it is in public or on someone else's property.

As for nudity, it is prohibited and generally considered illegal due to the fact that it is unhygienic. Sapient species who have exposed genetils (humans, orcs, elves and most anthropomorphs) and required to wear underwear at the very least in public, but private properties are allowed to force people to wear more. Creatures with contained genetils (equines, draconids/reptilids and some anthropomorphs) are not required to wear undergarments, but are urged to.

Nudity and sex are considered private things. It is illegal to walk around in public with the genitals showing at a fine of $250 and $1000 if children are nearby. Walking around a private residence or a business where such behavior is accepted is seen as a personal choice. Laws and attitudes toward sex is similar however penalties for public sex is harsher. Depending on the context and situation you can get from 1 month to 5 years in prison for having sex in public.

In the Allied States of New Edom, technically public nudity is compulsory except for soldiers, government officials and clergy. However in practice there are waivers that can be obtained for a number of things, and the practice is highly corrupt. Because it is related to the Edenist Movement which has enormous political power, in many ways the practice is governed according to where in the country it is being enforced. For example in the city of Glasstower it is so strictly enforced that even government officials practice it, while in the city of Reme it is not really enforced at all; people wear clothing of various kinds almost defiantly, caring more for fashion and status than they do for religious zealotry or patriotism. Nearly everyone carries a waiver for something.

Sex on the other hand is another matter--as in many countries public sexual mores tend towards only approving of sex within the private context of marriage. Adultery, homosexuality, and other non-adult heterosexual practices are illegal. Re-Education for homosexuals is an official practice. However in actual practice a general 'don't ask don't tell' is carried out, and the government is too busy to peek into bedrooms. As long as sexual practices are discreet and done generally between consenting adults, people are unlikely to be scrutinized. Public sexual acts will get you arrested--generally. This is not to say that some private clubs or resorts don't allow a certain amount of such things of course, but this is not publicly known of.

In Bolden, sexuality is viewed as a private thing and is enjoyed privately - in other words, unless it's a health related channel or radio station or so, sex and sexuality is not often thoroughly discussed on television or any other media. Since we're considered to be a Christian nation, we encourage that sex is to be enjoyed Only within marriage. We try to make things as easy as possible for our citizens, so we do not have any mandatory marriage laws within the nation - in other words, the government doesn't "recognize" marriage and views it as a personal decision and covenant between two people.

Pornography is illegal in Bolden. You will be fined and arrested if you create pornography and make it public (like posting it on the internet / any other kind of media or so instead of keeping it to yourself), or attempt to create "midnight" (strip or brothel) clubs. Of course, if you're with someone, it wouldn't be illegal to send them videos / photos of yourself or so..But don't post that crap on the internet or anything else popular for everyone else to see.
