It wasn't named after the Kalos region in Pokemon X&Y however as far as I know both names have the same origin.

I honestly couldn't think of one until sometime after establishing it on NS; I tried summing up the quality of selfless, benevolent people in one word, but I ended up with the word "genuine" for some reason. I ended up with the word embál, which is an Ithkuil word meaning "country".

I got it from the word for water in the the ancient language in the inheritance cycle; I've forgotton what it was originally for but I looked in the back of one of the books for a cool name and that sounded alright. Then I remembered it again when I found this site and there you go.
