Parliament convenes tomorrow to renew SADIARA

Parliament of Hippostania will renew SADIARA tomorrow

WAVERLEY - Hippostanian MP's won't be enjoying this new year's day with together their families; instead, the Parliament will convene in an extraordinary session that has taken place every ten years on January 1st for the past nine decades. The purpose of the session is to renew SADIARA, officially known as the Subversive and Dangerous Ideologies and Activities Restriction Act or the Anti-Communist bill, a law that limits the rights of dangerous far-left radicals to undermine Hippostanian principles of liberty and democracy that was created nine decades ago in 1923.

The bill has been renewed every 10 years, most recently in 2003 when it was unanimously passed by the entire Parliament with no abstentions. No MP has ever voted against renewal of the law and no MP has stated his intention to do so tomorrow either. Regardless, voting against renewal of the bill would be political suicide as support for SADIARA varies between 78% and 96% depending on the survey.

Once the law is renewed by the Parliament, High Chancellor Colin Townsend is expected to sign it on the same day. Townsend has already stated that he'll "be more than glad to follow High Chancellor Nicholas Callahan's footsteps and proudly renew the law that has safeguarded the liberty and integrity of all Hippostanian people for almost a century."

Left-wing terrorist organization PGSPFH has issued some insane ramblings condemning the bill, but luckily these slightly sad ramblings have not been taken seriously and have been dismissed as irrelevant by pretty much everyone. PGSPGH's leadership consists of mentally unstable terrorists who believe that they are the legitimate government of Hippostania even though they are not Hippostanians at all. How silly.

Nevertheless, as sun rises tomorrow morning and the Parliament convenes to renew the law, it is the duty of every Hippostanian to be proud of the fact that Hippostania has a government of the people, by the people, for the people, that has taken these great, extensive measures to make sure that we can live without fear of left-wing aggression and tyranny. Most nations do not care about the fears and worries of their citizenry and let communists run wild, executing political opponents and creating tyrannical laws which violate the basic rights of man. So when you're out today celebrating new year's eve, remember to celebrate the fact that at that very moment, thousands of people are working hard so you don't have to suffer from communism, socialism or other left-wing ideologies!

The Social Commonwealth of Gorgashia, Blackstone; Premier Alexander Javick's Residence.

The town of Blackstone was an unremarkable fishing and trading post as it always was since its founding on June 7th 1955. The bright blue sea of Blackstone was dotted with dozens fishing boats and the odd trading vessel. Near the coast of this quiet town stood a humble, one story, house, painted in a dark shade of red with a black roof. At the wooden porch of this house sat a man wearing fishing gear and was just putting on his boots.

The man had an aura of the kind of experience that only age could bring around him. He had tanned, somewhat wrinkled, skin, grey hair that was whitening in places and deep brown eyes that reflected almost everything they gazed at. This was Premier Alexander Javick and he was going fishing.

Javick stood up to stretch his aching back and shoulders a bit. When he was done he paused to take a breath of the cool coastal air and gaze at the bright blue horizon and the ships that dotted it. Becoming the Premier of the Prople's Republic wasn't the best move Javick made in his life; he had no real power in what went on in the country, his job involved playing referee for a meeting room full of deeply opinionated councilmen and the pay was, by law, equal to the lowest pay the unions currently offered, a measly 30,000 Zephs a year. Still, it could be worse and today was a break from politics and debating with the members of the national council and representatives of the community councils. Today Javick was going to go sail the beautiful sea before him and fish for his labour union like he had since he was of working age, and he was going to enjoy it while it lasted.

Javick had just gotten his supplies sorted out when he heard the phone ring in his house. Javick rushed in as fast as his aging body could carry him and picked up the phone. "Hello." a familiar voice said through the phone "Is this Premier Javick's residence?"

Javick took a moment to remember the voice. It hit him like a truck. "Jerry?" Javick asked in a confused tone. Jerry Warwick was the head councilman of Foriegn affairs in the national council and this was his break day as much as Javick's. This must be a national emergency or something. Javick thought to himself.

"That's me." Jerry responded in a cheerful tone "But enough pleasantries, Javick, we've got work to do! I'm sure you've already heard the news."

Javick took a moment to think. He furrowed his brow, scratched his head and tried as hard as he could to remember whatever the hell Jerry was talking about. "Uh, the the Telvick Trouts lost to the Swahili Swordfishes on the ice again?" Javick guessed.

"What?" Jerry said in a confused tone "You haven't heard? Those Hippostanians are repealing their ban on 'dangerous ideologies' including leftist ideologies. Now, I think-"

"Wait, who?!" Javick interrupted Jerry

"The Hippostanians." Jerry said flatly "Y'know; blue, white, orange flag, their national personification is a nice looking red head, they're part of the Anti-Communism Alliance. You must have heard of them!"

Javick took a moment to remember everything he knew about a 'Hippostania' and eventually he found a memory, a big one. "Wait, isn't that the reactionary pit that spawned Callahanism?!" Javick stated in a tone of horrified realization.

An awkward silence came from the phone before Jerry spoke again.

"Maybe." Jerry said as softly as possible.

"And, what?" Javick asked in bewildered tone "You expect the Hippostanians to actually repeal an act that appeals to Callahanism, while a Callahanist part holds the majority?"

"Well, I was wondering if we could find a way to convince the Hippostanians that not all forms of leftism are THAT bad and if we-" Jerry said before he was interrupted by Javick again

"No." Javick said flatly "Firstly, the Hippostanians have a right to make their foolish choices, all we can do is offer homes for the leftists escaping Hippostania. Secondly, they won't listen to a damn thing we say and will just point at us and laugh. Lastly, there's a good chance the government of Hippostania will respond to our attempts at educating their populace by bombing the hell out of us, I would like to avoid a war if I can. Now, Jerry, I have some fishing to do. You have a good day now."

"But-" Jerry squeaked as Javick slammed the phone back down. A few seconds later it ringed again, but Javick payed it no attention and walked out of his front door and towards the harbors of Blackstone where his boat was anchored. Like hell Javick was going to spoil his day over the Hippostanians re-banning leftism for the ninth time.

HNN is the second most popular foreign news channel in Zokoria, ahead of AITV 24, and behind Fox News.

Whilst the Commonwealth of Morrdh can understand the Hippostanian government's stance against extremism, but at the same time is concerned by the restrictions of Political Freedom that SADIARA represents.

Even though the Commonwealth is a constitutional monarchy it is also a fair and democratic nation that allows parties from either side of the political spectrum, preferring instead to use a cross-party effort to discourage extremism. Because of this we have fair elections and extremists get pushed to the sidelines.

We are not suggesting a complete repeal of SADIARA, rather suggesting the consideration of an amendment to allow more moderate left-wing parties to stand at elections.

Having seen both my own nation and others emerge from political darkness into new light, it disturbs me to notice that the people of Hippostania still live in an age where they must live in fear of their government, where people who share ideas are oppressed.

It is not tolerable for a nation to oppress political feelings and it has put a sour taste in my mouth when I try to enjoy the New Year with my family.

HSM Parliament of Gordano-Lysandus has voted on providing a proposal to the WASC on condemning the nation of Hippostania. I can confirm that all sides of the chamber agreed that Hippostania's actions are a monstrous spectre of a by-gone age of the Red Scare. Communism, socialism and associated ideologies are, by a large part, completely nothing to fear and the government has no right to oppress those minorities in order to consolidate its own power.

The Royal Commonwealth of Gordano-Lysandus firmly opposes this bill and it firmly opposes the practices of the Hippostanian government. It is a disgusting and bitter shame how a nation parading as a republic is so staunchly anti-democratic.

Dear leaders of Hippostania,
First of all we would like to wish you a prosperous and meaningful new year ahead. Let me start off by bringing the attention to the renewal of the anti communist bill. For the Mapletians here, it might be viewed with suspicion on the restriction of the expression of a certain belief, as Mapletish has always been an open country when it comes to political beliefs and there is a level of freedom in the expression of such a need. However instead of putting on a protest over the matter without learning the root cause of the problem, we feel that the previous experiences faced by the nation would have accounted for such a law to be signed in the first place and such a measure would be nessecary in order to protect the interest of its people and this is commendable. It will be wrong for us to be judging a nation by such a law in place. Shit, call up the Congress Romeo, I hate to get them up on New year's eve morning but it'll give them more time with theior families once we get this vote over" Cha said. "But Sir, we just offered..." Romeo replied " Dammit I know what we offered "Cha snapped, get them up here." "There's one more problem the Representative from Opaateer Is back home." Che responded "good then we'll actually get a vote in this for once." A few hours later the vote passed 13-12, "Damn Traders, and Dawnites" Cha said, "hopefully they'll be out after the election tonight."
