The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Federation of the Apathetic Auteurs welcomes other nations to establish embassies and diplomatic missions within its borders.
The Federation is a small and friendly nation of some 45 million, split into 14 states or 'Auteurs'. The country is headed by the Federal President, Marcella Thompson, although the position is largely symbolic and effective power is held with the Prime Minister, James Erikksen. There is a parliament consisting of 280 MPs and a Senate consisting of 60 senators.
There will be initially 12 sites for embassies, all located on Embassy Avenue, in the Parliament Hill precinct of the capital, Strathfield. As those spaces are filled, more will be made available. As the precinct's name suggests, the Avenue is located close to the Parliament building, as well as the MFA and other governmental offices. Most buildings are modern townhouses, with high-grade internet capabilities and direct links to the Prime Minister's and MFA offices as well as emergency services. The land on which the embassy sits will be considered the sovereign territory of the embassy's home nation, and subject to their laws and statues, but we also ask that the laws and statues of the Apathetic Auteurs are respected by all embassy staff, including security personnel.
Regulations
- We kindly ask that there is a maximum of 25 diplomatic staff at the embassy, although we will make exception if it is requested, within valid reason. We also recommend that there are no more than 30 assistants and support staff.
- Diplomatic Immunity is guaranteed, but if an official is found guilty of a major crime, they will be asked to leave and (depending on the severity of the crime) the embassy in question may be asked to close down for either a period or permanently. Any cases will be handled by the Grand Federal Court, the highest court in the Apathetic Auteurs.
- Up to ten security staff are allowed. We ask that the security staff wear ceremonial uniforms whenever on duty, that means no combat gear please. If requested, we can offer our own Federal Guard servicemen to aid security details. We prefer as little weaponry as possible - we prefer that non-lethal weapons are used (such as batons), and at the most handguns are acceptable. Anything more is at the discretion of the Foreign Affairs Minister, and only if the situation requires it.
- No more than 5 vehicles are allowed. Use of public transport is encouraged, the nearest subway station is at Metropolitan Plaza, about 5 minutes' walk north of Embassy Ave, and discounts are available to embassy personnel. One small aircraft (i.e. a helicopter or Lear Jet) is also allowed, these can be kept at the Strathfield International Airport about a half hour's drive south-east of the central city. We ask that environmental concerns are taken into consideration when choosing your vehicles.
Motorcades are provided by the Federal Guard by request.

Process
Applications are handled by the Federal Committee on Foreign Affairs. They will consider each application on a case-by-case basis, and is also dependent on the type of nation - overtly far-right and Fascist nations are rarely accepted due to Auteurian dislike of far-right ideologies. If an application fails to meet criteria, then the committee will let you know what is wrong and give you one opportunity to correct these changes. If a resubmitted application still fails criteria the application will not be accepted and nations will have to reapply again. The Minister of Foreign Affairs has the final say on all applications. Once the minister has notified successful applicants, they will be free to set up their operations.
