Your nations laws regarding gun ownership.

Postby Cronatian » Thu Jul 05, 2012 9:59 am

What are your nations laws regarding the private civillan ownership of firearms, or other weapons similar to firearms. Are you like America and Switzerland, with free and lax laws, or like England, and want everyone to have their right to shoot things banned.

Here in Cronatian, we have almost no restrictions on firearms. You can buy pretty much any weapon you please, as long as you are mentally healthy and have a clean criminal record. Automatic weapons are very common and extremely popular, and big companies like FNH, Steyr, Heckler & Koch, Izhmash, and numerous other American arms manufacturers have recently set up shop here and developed their own line of products tailored to the need of our people. This has established Cronatian a centre of the arms industry, and gave our economy the boost it needed.

As long as you pass the permit, of course. Can't have mentally unstable people with weapons.

If you can afford to buy it from the previous owner, the manufacturer, the military surplus dealers, the pawnshops, the internet dealers, or anyone else who might be selling whatever item you desire, then it is yours.

Novan gun ownership is legal.
There used to be mandatory gun ownership and able bodied citizens were actually required to attend a monthly local meet, this has since been abolished.
Those issued with a licence to own a firearm have such indicated both in paper, and electronically attached to their passport. Licences are relatively inexpensive.

We don't have any weapons restrictions in Fatatatutti. Period. You can be mentally unstable and/or have a criminal record as long as your arm and you can still have any weapon you want. But there is almost no demand for civilian weapons. Even our craziest people don't need weapons.

There was an armed robbery once. Some foreigners bought a couple of handguns from a pushcart and tried to hold up a bank. The first police officer on the scene sent a boy on a bicycle to get her pistol from her desk drawer at the police station, then told the criminals that they were attempting to rob a bakery, not a bank. They got away with a big bag of doughnuts before the boy returned with the pistol. They are believed to have left the island.

Anyone over 18 years old can hold registered firearms with a licence, the measures are there to reduce gun crime, and an unspent criminal record does not instantly entail disqualification.

If you have the cash and the permit you can buy all the guns you want. With a higher level permit, you can buy effectively anything, from grenade launchers to main battle tanks and fighter airplanes.

Dating back to the colonial period, there have never been codified laws in the Dominion in regards to the private ownership of weapons. Therefore, many citizens of the Dominion generally own one if not multiple firearms.

Only open carry is allowed. Generally - any citizen who owns a gun license may own as many guns as they want. There are restrictions of course - they're in the national factbook.

In Demirysis, gun ownership is compulsory. Anyone over the age of 14 found in public without carrying at least one loaded firearm is breaking the law, and is fined 1000 credits on the spot. Every household is also required to keep at least 6 firearms with sufficient ammunition.

In Beiluxia, it is illegal to own any sort of firearm without a gun permit. Persons upon reaching the age of 24 and taking a certified gun ownership class may request one of the two available gun permits: Personal Protection or Hunting & Recreational.

The Personal Protection gun permit allows said person to keep a gun within their household or property (maximum one gun in each household/property) as a safety precaution. The gun must remain hidden in a safe location away from children and unloaded until an emergency arises. The gun cannot leave the owner's household/property except with explicit permission by the National Polise and/or Government. The Personal Protection gun permit allows said person, upon threatened by a trespasser who enters his/her property, to point a gun at the trespasser. The person can shoot the trespasser in life-threatening situations only, and each situation will be looked upon independently as each case is handled by the Justise Branch (National Polise & Judiciary).

The Hunting & Recreational gun permit allows said person to keep a gun within their household or property (maximum one gun in each household/property) for hunting or recreational purposes. The gun must remain hidden in a safe location away from children and unloaded when not in use. When transporting the gun, the owner must conceal the gun within a provinsially or federally approved gun case. The gun must remain within the gun case outside of the owner's property/household and outside of a hunting reserve or shooting range. The gun may only be used for hunting purposes in hunting reserves, and may only be used for shooting marked targets in shooting ranges. As long as the gun stays with the owner and concealed outside of the allowed premises, the owner can technically travel with the concealed gun (but never remove the gun out of its gun case, even in places such as a hotel room or another person's property/household).

Persons upon having owned one of the two gun permits may apply for the second permit after having owned the first permit for at least six years. This technically means the earliest one can own both permits is at the age of 30.

In the United Planet Gun Ownership is massively regulated. You need to be over 25 years of age to own a lethal weapon. You need a permit which the form requires you till fill out much more than general information. The can only be used for Hunting Purposes and can not go into any towns. Default sentence 25 years. If you do not have a permit 50 years in prison. Constant background checks and so on are required. Therefore less than 1% of the population owns a gun.

Firearms ownership is effectively banned in Makaar. Only one form of firearm is allowed, a .22 calibre issued by the government to farmers to allow them to fend off pests which threaten their crops and livestock. The firearm is specially designed; it is capable of holding only a single round in the chamber before needing to be reloaded, has no detachable magazine, and is built with a proximity chip which communicates with its base station. The base station (which also serves as a lock-box for the rifle and its ammunition) alerts the police if it loses contact with the proximity chip.

Obtaining such a rifle requires membership of the National Farmer's Union, and a detailed psychiatric evaluation for every person living at the address where the rifle is to be kept. Once a rifle is obtained, it must be kept within a certain distance of the base station, and only 30 rounds of ammunition may be possessed at any one time. Licenses to own a firearm are issued by the National Police Service on a may-issue basis; the police have final authority on whether to grant or refuse permission to own a rifle, and no appeals can be made against their decision (though applications can be renewed once each year).
Makaar is ranked 323rd in the world for Most Dedicated Public Healthcare.
Makaar is ranked 272nd in the world for Largest Welfare Programs (per capita).
Makaar is ranked 408th in the world for Nicest Citizens.

Legal to an extent. Assault Rifles and heavy weapons require training and a permit. Pistols are easy to come by.
