Introduction

The United Socialist States of Phrozen Core is a huge, socially progressive nation, notable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 250 million are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Defence, although Law & Order and Social Welfare are secondary priorities. The average income tax rate is 100%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Military geniuses responsible for brilliant campaigns are drummed out because they have close same-sex friends and an interest in interior design, heavy industry must go to expensive lengths to dispose of waste, pharmacies close down as medicinal drugs are sold freely by the government, and public footpaths are being slowly eroded by the burgeoning number of ramblers. Crime is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Phrozen Core's national animal is the Satanic Pony, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the core.

History

Phrozen Core was founded in 1962 by Viktor Yaroslav. During its first years, the government struggled to maintain order, and public executions were common. As Phrozen Core moved into the 1970's, its unemployed rate skyrocketed as the market fell. By 1978, the country was in a deep depression, and many urban-residing citizens starved to death. This period was known as The Great Purge (1978-1982). Out of the misery and rubble from that campaign rose a socialist party, bent on bringing prosperity to Phrozen Core.

Carbon Zorak was born in 1965, Lester and Karol Zorak. During his childhood, he was forced to work in the factory beside his parents, in the polluted Phrozen Core City. In his twenties, Zorak began the Proletariat Movement (1986-1990), where he urged his fellow workers to unite, and overthrow the capitalist government. Gaining support, he founded The United Proletariat Revolutionary Army (1990-1998), which he led to fight against government forces in Phrozen Core. Although his troops suffered many losses, they pushed on, eventually overthrowing the corrupt leadership of Viktor Yaroslav.

A devoted Marxist, Carbon Zorak vowed to bring social and economic equality to everyone in Phrozen Core. He socialized every aspect of his country, destroying private enterprise. All pirvate property was seized, and Phrozen Core became a single-class society. In 2000, Zorak moved the capital to Revan bay, along the Southern Coast.

Although he has yet to step down from his postion as Great Commander, Carbon Zorak is deeply invested in his people, and the country has remained peaceful, up until 2009, when a brutal civil war erupted. Revolutionaries under the command of noted libertarian socialist Noam Lyson began an uprising against the government under Carbon Zorak, who they claim is "A fascist hiding beneath a communist veil." The war is ongoing.

Geography

Phrozen Core is roughly the size of Mongolia, shaped like modern-day China. It is bordered by 4 countries to the north and west, and The Great Ocean to the east and south. The southwestern corner of the country is known as the Phrozen Wastes, an icy tundra devoid of any life. The country is split down the middle by plains, and on either side, are two mountain ranges. To the west are the Ghaitsghas Mountains, which end at the border, and The Retslas Mountains, to the east, which end 75 miles from the coast line.

The largest city is Revan Bay (pop. 10 million), on the central southern coast, then Phrozen Core City, in central Phrozen Core (pop. 6 million), then Bordersole, on the northern border (pop.3.5 million), and finally Port Marx, on the northeastern coast (pop. 1.2 million).

The largest highway, Highway 77, runs between the Ghaitghas and Retslas mountains, Providing a direct route from Revan Bay to Bordersole. It runs on plainsland, which makes up 45 % of Phrozen Core. Coastline makes up 15%, while mountains make up 25%, and tundra makes up 15%.

Economy

Phrozen Core's economic history is tumultous, hitting an alltime low during The Great Purge, and an alltime high just before the current civil war. During the Capitalist Period, Phrozen Core remained a two class society: the wealthy, and those living below the poverty line. This changed after the Worker's Revolution, where every aspect of the economy was socialized, abolishing unemployment and creating a classless society among Phrozen Corites.

Great Commander, Carbon Zorak

Phrozen Core is completely Communist, under the supreme command of Carbon Zorak. Under the Commander, all executive decisions are made, but many are appointed to serve below him. Such positions include:

In rural areas (mountainous, plainsland regions), the governing body is made of autonomously set villages, comprised of a popular-voted council, who are elected every six months. They can preside over 100-2000 residents, and contain 12 councilmen.

Provincial Government works in the same fashion, except on a larger scale. The Council can preside over 20-75 million, and are residents of the specific province. They can assume no executive power, but rather keep the economic and social balance among residents. Provinces include:

Phrozen Core has a long and glorious military history. Commander Carbon Zorak himself had been a general before he assumed command, and becoming a soldier is a sought-after occupation among civilians. All branches have a 65% dropout rate, as training is quite rigorous. During times of extremity, a draft is issued, conscripting all eligble males between the ages of 18 and 28. People's Army
The purpose of this branch is all warfare and national security on land. Typical infantrymen are recruited from plainsland villages and cities, and are trained in local bases. Army poplution has reached 3.5 million.

People's Navy
The purpose of this branch is all warfare and national security in the sea. Typical Sailors are recruited from coastal villages and cities, and are trained aboard naval carriers and controlled islands. Naval Population has reached 1.2 million

People's Airforce
The purpose of this branch is all warfare and national security in the sky. Typical Aerial troopers are recruited from moutainous regions, where the air is less dense, with the exception of paratrooper forces, which are recruited from the Tundran Province. These soldiers are trained in Aerial Bases, located in rural plainsland and cities. Airforce Population has reached 1.7 million.

Foreign Campaign Commandos
The purpose of this branch is all warfare concerning the aid of foreign countries. These soldiers, direct, fight alongside, and lead foreign troops and mercenarial forces. They also train and equip all foreign militias, and are recruited from the Specialist Forces Branch. Other information on this branch is withheld at this time.

Specialist Forces
The purpose of this branch is all warfare containing special operations and objectives. Typical Specialists are recruited from the top classes of the People's Army, and are trained in secret locations in Phrozen Core. Specialist Population is withheld at this time.
