In CEV service, the Arleigh Burke-class is known as the St. Dominic-class. The lead ship is named for St. Dominic de Guzman.

This is the principle behind the Just War.

CEVS St. Lawrence of Manila -- Usa ka Libo ka Kinabuhi
Visayan for "A Thousand Lives," referring to the defiant last words of San Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila.

CEVS St. John Bosco -- Ascende Superius
Latin for "Come to a Higher Place." Often understood to mean "Ascend to Greatness."

CEVS St. Thomas More -- The country's Good-Servants
A reference to St. Thomas More's last words.

CEVS St. Josemaria Escriva -- Never Idle
A reference to the statement "Idle hands are the Devil's workshop."

CEVS St. Paul Miki -- Hangtud sa Kamatayon
Visayan for "To the Death;" St. Paul Miki was one of the 26 Martyrs of Japan.

CEVS St. Augustine of Hippo -- No Unjust Law
A reference to the Augustinian treatise of the just law: An unjust law is no law.

CEVS St. Michael the Archangel -- Defensores Patriae
Latin for "Defenders of the Country."

CEVS St. Arnold Janssen -- Strength, Valor, Defiance
A reference to the order founded by the eponymous saint.

CEVS St. Thomas Aquinas -- Lex Naturalis
Latin for "Natural Law;" this was what St. Thomas Aquinas put emphasis on.

CEVS St. Jerome -- New from the Old
From St. Jerome's Preface to the Gospels, a letter from him to Pope St. Damasus I.

CEVS St. Joseph the Worker -- Terror Inimicorum
Latin for "Terror of Enemies." A reference to one of St. Joseph's titles: Terror of Demons (Terror Daemonum in Latin).

CEVS St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe -- Nie Wieder
German for "Never Again." This is the only motto not in any of the official languages of CEV.

CEVS St. John Fisher -- Piscadores de la Verdad
Spanish for "Fishers of Truth."

CEVS St. Benedict of Nursia -- Non Tyranno sit Mihi Dux
Latin for "Let not the Tyrant be my Overlord," a reference to one of the inscriptions present in a Medal of Saint Benedict.

CEVS St. Ferdinand III of Castile -- Firm of Purpose
A virtue demanded of lawmakers under the Visigothic code, which San Fernando Rey had Cordoba adopt upon his taking.

CEVS St. Louis IX of France -- Tig-balantay sa Hustisya
Visayan for "Watcher of Justice."

CEVS St. Albert Magnus -- Praemonitus, Praemunitus
Latin for "Forewarned, Forearmed."

CEVS St. John Chrysostom -- Bane of Herodias
St. John Chrysostom had denounced Eudoxia as another Herodias. In the modern context, Herodias refers to despots.

CEVS St. Henry II of the Holy Roman Empire -- Crown of Glory
The eponymous saint is the only canonized King of Germany.

CEVS St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori -- Da redemptionem
Latin for "Give redemption." A play on the order St. Alphonse Liguori founded, the Redemptorists.

CEVS St. Edith Stein -- Unforgiving Legacy
Like her sister ship the Kolbe, this destroyer was named after a Holocaust martyr.

CEVS St. Barbara -- With Great Reach
The eponymous saint is the patron saint of artillerymen.

CEVS St. Peter of the Visayan Islands -- Valor amid Hatred
The eponymous saint (Pedro Calungsod--his origins are somewhat ambiguous) laid down his life as a martyr.

A reference to how the eponymous Don Gothong managed to keep his company standing throughout history.

Spanish for "Law and Service;" Francisco Enage was a lawyer and a Philippine Senator (1919 AD-1925 AD).

CEVS Genaro Visarra -- My Honor is Service
Genaro Visarra was a lawyer, mayor of what is now the City of Tagbilaran (1939 AD-1940 AD), and a member of the antebellum COMELEC (Commission on Elections; 1960 AD-1962 AD).

CEVS Jose E. Romero -- Enduring Service
Jose Romero was a former lawmaker who eventually served the antebellum government in different capacities.

CEVS Celestino Gallares -- Enduring Legacy
Celestino Gallares was a former governor of antebellum Bohol; his legacy lives on in most of the two provinces.

CEVS Judex -- Nil Inultum Remanebit
Latin for "Nothing shall go unpunished." Part of the Dies Irae, it is often translated as "None shall go unjudged."

CEVS Imperator -- Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes?
Latin for "Who Watches the Watchmen?" A quote attributed to the Roman poet Juvenal.

CEVS Paterfamilas -- Utrinque Paratus
Latin for "Ready for Anything."

CEVS Vindex -- Ultima Ratio Civis
Latin for "Last Resort of the Citizen."

CEVS Parcae -- Sic Volvere Parcas
Latin for "So spin the Fates."

CEVS Pontifex -- Sua Sponte
Latin for "Of their own accord."

CEVS Centurio -- Pax per Potens
Latin for "Peace through Power." This is often translated as "Peace through Strength" among the younger generations.

CEVS Lux Vitae -- Harbinger of Judgment
This refers to the ship's role as a part of CEV's nuclear deterrent.

CEVS Umbra Mortis -- Grim Resolve
A reference to what the ship's duty demands of her.

CEVS Gloria Lucis -- The Unforgiving
"Unforgiving," as she deals with nuclear retaliation.

K-Väsby-class SSGN

In CEV service, the K-Väsby-class is known as the Altair-class. The lead ship is named after the star Altair.

The ship class was originally an SSBN class initially considered as a replacement for the Ohio-class, but eventually it was decided that the class would serve as SSGN's in the CEV Navy, loaded with 24 UGM-109A TLAM-N missiles tipped with variable-yield W-80 warheads apiece.

CEVS Altair -- Let None Stand
A reference to the nuclear burden it carries.

CEVS Vega -- What Duty Demands
A reference to the letters of last resort all nuclear-armed submarines carry.

CEVS Deneb -- Cursed with Power
A reference to the SSGN's role in nuclear deterrence.

CEVS Betelgeuse -- Eternal Vigilance
The point, according to JSAC, of nuclear deterrence

CEVS Orion -- Hand of Judgment
Often completed with "...and the sentence is a nuclear strike."

CEVS Sirius -- Hounds of Wrath
Sirius is known as "The Dog Star." The titular hounds are W80-tipped TLAM-N cruise missiles.

Visayan for "Never forgive. Never forget. Never again." A common rallying cry among genocide survivors.

CEVS Srebrenica 1995 -- They shall never be forgotten.
A common consolation to the bereaved.

Common CE Visayan practice in dealing with genocidal governments.

Zeal is often portrayed as a fire.

In CE Visayan military culture, war criminals are seen as cowards--offensive to the CE Visayan sense of honor.

To a determined mind, giving up is a guarantee of failure.

In CEV service, the Virginia-class is known as the Tres de Abril-class. The lead ship is named for an event which took place on April 3, 1898 AD.

CEVS Tres de Abril -- Libertas!
Latin for "Liberty." On April 3, 1898 AD, Cebuano revolutionaries led by Leon Kilat fought the Spaniards during the War for Independence.

CEVS Sandugo -- Brotherhood
Named after the blood compact contracted by Datu Sikatuna and Miguel Lopez de Legazpi in Bohol, the motto is what said blood compact symbolizes.

CEVS Dagohoy Rebellion -- Tyranny demands Rebellion
A common adage in CE Visayan culture.

CEVS Battle of Leyte Gulf -- We have returned
When American forces under General MacArthur left the Philippine Commonwealth in 1942 AD, they vowed to return, a vow that was fulfilled in 1944 AD.

CEVS Battle of Mactan -- Leverage
Lapu Lapu's forces defeated the technologically superior forces of Ferdinand Magellan by taking advantage of the battlefield terrain.

San Antonio-class LPD

In CEV service, the San Antonio-class is known as the Baybay-class. The lead ship is named after the city of Baybay in Leyte.

The San Antonio-class has replaced decommissioned-at-this-point Harpers Ferry-class dock landing ships in CEV service.

CEVS Baybay -- Strength in Serenity
The "Serenity" portion is derived from the titular city's motto.

CEVS Guiuan -- Stepping-stone to Liberty
The titular town was home to one of the largest naval bases in the Far East during the final year of the Second World War.

CES Moalboal -- El Pescador
Spanish for "The Fisher," a reference to Pescador Island, a popular tourist destination under the titular town's jurisdiction.

CEVS Panglao -- To the open sea
A translation of the municipality's old name of Panglawod.

CEVS Jagna -- Defende nos in proelio
Latin for "Defend us in battle;" Jagna celebrates the feast day of the Archangels, more specifically, St. Michael.

CEVS Sibulan -- Two lakes, one flight
Sibulan is home to the Twin Lakes eco-site as well as the Dumaguete Airport.

CEVS Palompon -- Hang them high!
Palompon was once known as Hinablayan (from the root word sablay--to hang) because of the locals' historical penchant for hanging the corpses of (Moro) raiders.

CEVS Macrohon -- Living off the Seas
One legend states that the the name came from the root word manhaon (removing cooked food), coming from the historical practice of Moro raiders removing the food left behind by fleeing residents.

In CEV service, the Nimitz-class is known as the Kali Pulako-class. The lead ship is named after the leader of Mactan known more commonly as Lapu-Lapu.

CEVS Kali Pulako -- Onward, brave warriors!
Lapu-Lapu is best known as the leader of a victorious force that repelled the Spaniards in the Battle of Mactan.

CEVS Katuna -- Brotherhood begets Alliance
Sikatuna, as he is better known, made a blood compact and forged an alliance with the Spaniards under Miguel Lopez de Legaspi.
