Walosians are known for having a huge interest for politics and nationals affairs. As a result of that, protests are a common sight. On average, about 340 protests take place every year and most of them are non violent. However, protests turning into violence are not uncommon either. Of those 340 protests, abut 75 of them turns into violent clashes between protestors and police. Despite this, no protester has been killed in a clash between police and protestors since 2000.

1 500 protestors clashed with police in Forum Senatoria in downtown Walosia. They protested against the war with Khelshar. 750 protestors where arrested and four was severely injured. 30 police officers was injured, 2 of those became severely injured.

21 000 protestors took to the streets of Walosia to demand lower taxes on low income families. Just prior to this, the low income tax (for those who earn between 10 000 and 50 000 denaris (15 000 - 75 000 dollars)) was raised from 25 to 30%. The protestors saw this as an attack on the families with low income and demanded the tax to be reinstated as 25%. 34 protestors were arrested and 43 was injured. 22 police officers were injured.

Nobles in the Traekun Realm derive a majority of their income from "defense tithes", where the inhabitants of a territory will pay a certain amount of something the Noble wants in exchange for a promise of military support and defense. Most often the Nobles tithe a portion of the territory's exports, be they manufactured goods or agricultural goods, and sells them for profit or uses them for personal gain. Some Nobles simply tithe a portion of the territory's profits, but this is considered inefficient. Much of the tithe is then used to pay for the Noble's military forces.

Lands paying a defense tithe to a Noble are considered a part of that Noble's domain, though they are in almost all ways completely self-controlled. For example, the County of a Count would encompass all territories paying him a defense tithe as well as his own personal estate.


Note: It should be noted that the term Noble in this usage does not refer to all members of the aristocratic class, but rather to a specific subset of the aristocracy that owes its power and prestige to its relationship to the Royal Family as well as its hereditary magical power. Other members of the aristocracy fund themselves through other means, such as renting out parts of their own territory.
