Praetorian Guard

The Praetorian Guard is the oldest and most elite unit in the Walosian Legions (Walosian armed forces). Its legacy stretches back to the days of Gaius Lucius himself (1200BC). For decades, this unit was tasked with the protection of the consuls, kings and later, Emperors. This unit was handpicked by the Emperor and consisted of the best soldiers of the Walosian Legions.

Today, the Praetorian Guard consists of the 500 most elite soldiers, handpicked by the Legate himself. The 500 are handpicked from thearmy, navy, space force, homefront and air force. The Praetorian Guard is not governed under any other legion (Air force, army, homefront, space force and navy are called “Legions”). It’s directly governed by the Legate, Emperor and President of Walosia and can be called in for any operation where it is necessary.

The primary objective for the Praetorian Guars is to protect the capital; royal family, president, legate and senators in times of war, but it can also be used for regular operations and military missions.

The structure of the Praetorian Guard goes as follows. The Praetorian Guard is split into 50 unitas, which consist of 10 soldiers. Of those 10 soldiers, one has the command and he/she is called Praetorian Prefect (praefectus praetorio). The Legate then governs the entire guard, but both the President and the Emperor can govern it if that should be necessary.
