Fatatatutti wrote:Public support for the Air Cavalry Brigade is already "through the roof", according to commanding General Marie-Louise Castro-Stalina, because of the frequent raids staged on playgrounds and beaches. That support is expected to increase even further with the announcement of a major movie about the Air Cavalry. The brigade will cooperate fully, with camera crews going along in gunships and troop-carrying helicopters as well as mingling with the troops on the ground. Although few details are available about the production, it is believed that the movie will be about the recent "incursion" by a group of foreigners who intended to "free Fatatatutti from communism".

Vulfyr Rites of Passage

PostPosted: Sun Apr 20, 2014 6:04 pm
by The Babelite-Eresqukan Co-Hegemony
Vulfyr rites of passages (into adulthood) almost always involve either hunting some sort of predatory animal or navigating some form of maze. There are usually three rites of passage, the first at the age of 12, the second at the age of 16 and the third at the age of 20.

The first is essentially a preview and is purposefully easy and simplistic, mostly to give a sense of what a rite of passage is. This first rite is also almost impossible to fail, regardless of what form it takes. It could involve hunting a small and slow predator that is no match for even a naked Vulfyr, or it could involve navigating a very simple and linear tunnel. Failing this rite indicates very severe stupidity.

The second rite is much more difficult, though the individual taking the rite will have trained for it for quite some time and it will greatly resemble the first rite. Essentially, it is the first rite with added difficulty. It might involve hunting a tricky and hard to find predator, or it might involve navigating through a tricky-but-nonlethal tunnel. Regardless, unlike the first rite there is also a time limit. If this time limit passes, scouts will be sent out to retrieve the rite-taking individual. Failing the second rite usually indicates that you have to train your mental faculties more, but it is not uncommon for Vulfyr to fail on their first try. The second rite may be repeated eternally until you succeed, and it is expected to take 2 or 3 tries to succeed.

The third rite is optional and is similar to a college degree, in that it is not strictly required but is extremely beneficial. (Actual Vulfyr college degrees are of higher priority though.) The third rite is extremely complex and very dangerous, with many that attempt it failing and dying. For this reason, only about 10% of the population actually attempts the third rite. Of these, about half succeed. The third rite usually involves hunting a very dangerous and vicious animal, or navigating a treacherous and convoluted maze. It may be done alone or with a teammate, with both approaches considered equally honorable and correct.

Lemmingtopian Fact of the Week.

Around 16% of Lemmingtopians are members of monastic orders. These order consist mainly of monks and follow the traditional lemmingtopian nature-based faith. The largest Order, by far, is the Order of Lomax - over which His Holiness the Lemming Sage, the Head of State, is leader. Interestingly, the Lemmingtopian Government does not consider the traditional religion to be the official religion, nor does it even recognise it. Strange.

Cultural fun facts from Walosia

Different flowers have different meanings
Red flowers means love, friendship and happiness
Yellow and white flowers mean congratulations or proudness.
Blue (Inc. purple) and green flowers means sorrow, death and passing on
Other colors than those given above represent generosity and celebration

In Walosia, it’s normal to discuss business trades and various meetings in a quiet room. Taking your time at such meetings is also a sign of reflection and experience.

Don’t eat before the host has taken his seat and “opened” the meal. It’s also a sign of enjoyment if you clear your plate after eating. The host will take that you enjoyed the meal and the company.

If you cause a bump or a small damage to someone’s parked car, motorcycle or any other vehicle, always leave your insurance number and cell phone number at his or her windshield or steering wheel before leaving.

If you win at a sport when you are out with your friends, ought it be tennis, golf or any other sport, the winner always buys the entire gang a round at the bar. (if you go to a bar afterwards)

If you are in a business meeting and you are offered a glass of whiskey, vodka or any other liquor, its rude to pass unless you have a valid reason to why not. However, feel free to pass if the bottle comes around for a second time.

Always shake hands and meet the eyes of the new person who you are being introduced to. Not doing so is a sign of disrespect and carelessness.

If you are seated at the buss with an empty seat besides you it’s not unusual for the person who chooses to sit next to you to make small talk to you. However, if you are wearing a pair of headphones, air plugs or any sort of music listening device, sits with the newspaper or reads a book it’s a sign that you don’t want to chat.
